Best media player device. It runs fast and smooth. No issue so far. If a very responding remote control is an issue :-)
Ordering another piece for my sister.

This is the King of the Hill for media players. One major selling point is, the player will upscale the picture quality on older, inferior recorded media. That means movies (for example) which is playing in 480 or 720 will look like 1080P.
This is well worth the money.

I’ve had the 2015 and 2017 shield tv. The 2019 shield tv pro is an excellent upgrade in that it has dolby vision and atmos native from Netflix and other apps. The best part is the AI upscaling which is as good as the tv can do for that content that isn’t 4K. Also, nvidia is constantly updating the firmware of these devices making them practically future proof.

Wish I could browse network shares

I got this in hopes of replacing my much larger Windows 10 media center PC for my home theater system. I use the media center for my 4K and Atmos MKV files, but the interface is awkward on a 4k TV for hitting shares with Explorer. Not to mention the size of the box.
Unfortunately, this has no way to simply browse SMB shares. I did try setting up Plex, since my 8 bay Synology DS1821+ can run Plex server. And it worked, mostly, although sometimes I'd have issues and stutters using this on the exact same movie files that had NO playback issues on the MCPC. I'll not I was NOT using this wirelessly, but plugged into a Cat-6 gigabit network.
The video quality was excellent though, as was the support for dolby vision.
I don't stream from any services other than Amazon prime maybe once or twice a year, and that worked fine as well, although just for that I would've used the built in TV app, my Fire TV cube, or my media center PC.
My biggest problem is that I have such a huge collection of digital media now over the years, that Plex just doesn't cut it. That worked fine for my movie share and TV show share, but I have a "videos" and "cartoons" share that are just the files organized in folders, and Plex doesn't work well at ALL with, say, a folder called "Looney Tunes" with 400 individual files in that one folder. Hence my need to browse by SMB share sometimes.
I ended up returning it, but that was due to my particular needs, not any massive failure or fault in the hardware. If I was a more "normal" person, this would've worked pretty well.

Excellent for emulation. I also have a Shadow PC and it's amazing to see it/work off of a 75" screen when I have to do "Windows" stuff. Can also play games installed on your Shadow on the Shield though with latency YMMV depending on a TON of factors. Storage is expandable a few ways (I have 500GB adopted storage which becomes "a part" of the Shield - can't be read by a computer any longer - and 1TB NVME ssd which is removable that you can add whatever you want to). Can use many different controllers with it. Again, YMMV. Having good luck with the PS4 dualshocks both bluetooth and wired. The remote is very well constructed. The app has a "find my remote" feature wherein the remote will beep so you can find it. Have used this already a few times in a month. This model has 2 usb ports (the tube does not) making adding a few peripherals a bit easier (mouse, keyboard, controller, or the like). Product has a great support system on Reddit for any questions, so not sure what else I could add that can't be found there or Youtube. Price may be steep for some as a pure media center considering other options, but this is great for gamers. Glad I made this purchase.

I was skeptical at first of how much I would use this as I had a chromecast and fire tv previously and never really used them. I was wrong, the nvidia shield just does everything I need it to and more. The remote is super simple, the apps are fluid and up to date and the streaming capabilities are second to none.

OK, so it's a shame that there really isn't much storage within the device (unlike the previous model) but you can add a nice 'n fast USB3 drive to it and the darn thing is silent!
4k really shines on an OLED display and I don't think anyone would be sorry for purchasing one of these media players.

Definitely the best streaming device out there. It can stream, do DVR recording (with added memory), cast form devices and play games. All without breaking a sweat. With this device you never have to worry about the software on your smart tv being outdated. Other streaming devices are still trying to catch up with this one.

This newer model seems to operate smoother than my old model that stop working. That's why I purchased this pro. It gives me accouple updates that I did not have with my 1st Gen addition. Nvidia Shield is still the best streaming box out. Love the new remote I hated the watch battery on the older model.

Started out with a couple Rolu sticks. When it was time to graduate, I went with nvidia. The AI Upscaler is amazing! The backlit remote was a nice touch. I purchased a second device for my bedroom. Was a little intimidated by the technology at first, but nothing google cannot teach you.

Just picked up this version as an upgrade for an older unit. It works great, as expected. The Shield performs above and beyond any other streaming device I’ve seen. Aside from a performance bump, the most noticeable upgrade is the remote. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design and functionality.

One of the nicest streaming devices available in regards to technical specs and features. Fast response, excellent video quality. However it is overpriced and does not include a controller. Limited storage if you play any of the games available or use a DVR. Also the GeForce Now steaming service is unavailable. You can request access but the service is in beta and has been for years.

This is an incredible device. I have switched to using this for all my entertainment. I watch every show and movie I desire. Every thing is available. I’m also amazed at the gaming that is available, I’m not a big gamer but any title you can think of is available. Also very easy to use. Setup was easy.

If you like Google TV a $50 Chromecast 4k will probably work. But if you game (especially with Nvidia) or want to run Tivimate, Kodi, or Plex server, this device is the best bar none. The ability to add storage plus great video processing really make this the best streamer out there. I have tried Apple and it's pretty great but doesn't have the full Google Play store or a great backlit remote. Yes, it is almost a 5 year old device but it still produces a better picture than the native upscaling on a lot of premium TV's. Of course, low quality sources and low quality TV won't benefit much. Also, it still is Android and every now and then it does something weird and needs a reboot.
