It started the series off in DC with an unimaginable feat... Terrorists taking over the White House, But Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) Saves the day in this action packed assault on the senses... Wow! don't I sound like a jacket copyrighter.. (if you don't get the watch more movies ;) ) great movie, got both this one and London Has Fallen at Best Buy for great price for both Blu-ray and Digital combo pack...

My family and I really enjoyed this movie. It made us wonder what really goes on concerning and within the White House.

One of the best action packed movies, that actually has a purpose and has a great diolog! I love Gerard Buter, as well Aaron Eckhart, so it was a no brainer for me to see this movie. The interaction between Butler and Eckheart was trully amazing and I hope to see them in other movies. For men, they had amazing chemistry between them and that pulled me more into the movie. The movie was easy to follow, even though it was loaded with action and things blowing up. A real survival movie! I have actually purchased this for my movie collection. That's how phenomenal this movie was! I give this movie 5 stars hands down.

Olympus has Fallen is one of the newest great Patriotism movies to see and how the government can come together in a true crisis and above all one mans mission to save it and an old friend. This movie is packed with action and some heart wrenching moments that makes this a must see patriotic films.

First, let me say that I truly enjoyed this movie. It was fun, fast paced, and overall filled with some fun twists and turns. The characters are interesting, and decently developed (i.e. they won't win character development awards but they are believable in the movie's context). The film features a low-frequency heavy DTS-MA audio track, with solid explosions, 360º range of bullet fire, and generally clear dialogue (a bit low on the volume scale for my tastes but with "night mode" on my receiver, it brought this a bit more in line). The movie was fun and kept me interested, whether as I was ducking under my coffee table with the sound of a bullet flying by or my breathing slowing as the character sneaks. The video was good, presented in a well saturated 1080P. It was generally a dark movie though filled with some bright moments. For this reason it may be best to watch the movie in a dark room or at night so that the textures in the darkness aren't washed out by sunlight on the TV. Overall, while enjoyable this movie isn't something I would go back to. The movie was good, and features a Die Hard-esque plot (one man vs. incredible odds) which is predictable once you get a quarter of the way into the movie. The characters are fun and they had my interest, but I never found myself truly "routing" for any characters. I couldn't get behind them fully as I never felt I understood the villains motives. The plot just kind of drops the motive on you and keeps going without any build up or solid explanation. While the plot had it's weaknesses, it was fun, enjoyable and a fresh action romp that will keep those looking for a fun action movie without too much depth satisfied.

We saw this movie in theaters so no wonder the day this came onto blu ray we made sure it was added into our collection. Since purchasing it on the 13th of August, I am sure that we have seen it at least a dozen times. This movie is fast paced high adrenaline action from start to finish. The special effects are amazing and if you have surround sound, it's one of the best experiences you'll have with a movie in your home. This movie makes you sad, happy and brings back your love for the US. It's a great movie and should be seen immediately, once you see it, you'll buy it.

Gerard Butler is perfect for the part. He is the last hope of all involved in this drama that could have ended into a nuclear disaster and possibly the end of the real world. From the start to finish, it was very exciting, full of surprises which put you on the edge of your easy chair expecting for the worse to come. Excitement builds up from the moment the President's wife was killed when her car fell off the bridge but the President was saved. The sequence of events when the terrorits attacked the White House from a plane, the slow response by homeland security, the final takeover of the white house by the terrorists, their cruelty to the hostages, the betrayal by one American, the dramatic excape of Connor, son of the President, taking of the hostages, Mike's ability to win against all odds, the final triumph of good against evil. These all lead to the dramatic conclusion and a feeling of satisfaction for those watching this movie. This is a feel good movie but I also felt sympathy for those who died and destruction of old landmarks in the movie.

Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) excelled in this role. Morgan Freeman should have had more active parts. He is too good of an actor to play the passive leader. Angela Bassett was ok...nothing outstanding compared to what she can actually do in front of the screen. Rescue team completely wiped out...and one man saves the day...give me a break. The ending scene was just too predictable and borderline boring.

Gerard Butler continues to shine in this suspenseful action tale. He is assisted by excellent acting from almost everyone. I was disappointed in some of the plot flaws (SPOILER ALERT): 1) Only three people have a portion of a nuclear missile code and the president tells the other two to give the code up to terrorists rather than risk torture. No one would do that - not to be callous, but they knew the job was dangerous when they took it. 2) When this code was created to destroy rogue nuclear missiles, no one thought that it could be used to prevent US nuclear response OR that nothing prevented the missiles from being destroyed in their silos - turning America into a nuclear wasteland.

This is a very good action thriller with Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, etc. It's the first of two movies (the second one being White House Down with Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx which is a remake of this movie). It's got lots of action and suspense. But, I would strongly recommend anyone who is under the age of 17 to wait to see this movie or see White House Down instead because this movie is too intense for audiences under the age of 17. If you are an adult or 17 or older, it will be fine. This movie is rated R for a reason and it's not just the language.

This movie is one I wanted to see in the theaters, but it came off before I got the chance. Nowadays I always try to buy the Blu-Ray/DVD/digital combos so I can play the Bluray in my living room, the DVD in my office and the digital copy in my gameroom. The extras are REALLY cool; I love all the "Making Of..." extras. The walk throughs are pretty good, too. Be aware there is an expiration for the digital copy, but once it's been used it's good "forever."

This two disk set is an excellent value and has an added bonus as the ultraviolet downloads and streaming are included in the purchase price. There wasn't even a price premium for the added disk which makes this package a significant deal. There is some heart pounding suspense and some thought provoking moments in the film. The leads are outstanding. The opportunity to watch Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart and Gerard Butler acting together is well worth the price of admission! If you are a fan of any of these actors, don't wait. Get your own copy.

Still on the fence about whether you should see White House Down or Olympus Has Fallen? Choose the latter. While we all know it's far-fetched to attack the White House with so much military hardware (apparently, you can just jump the fence nowadays and walk right in the front door), it's much easier to believe in Gerard Butler as American's last defense than Channing Tatum. The action is loud and preposterous and quite good fun in the end. Hardly classic, but well worth a couple of hours on a Saturday evening.

I was pleasantly surprised when I bought this movie. It was everything I had hoped it would be and more. It's a great movie night action flick! It's more realistic then some to come out recently...I wish there would have been and unrated cut. I'm sure they could have squeezed a few extra scene's in... all and all it's a great action film that never slows down and keeps you hanging on... Only goes to show what a great cast and awesome director can achieve...

High-adrenaline, fast-paced intense action, a victimizing, threatening enemy, and a strong, heroic lead character - Olympus Has Fallen succeeds where A Good Day to Die Hard miserably, miserably failed. On the other hand, it can also be said that Olympus Has Fallen succeeds where the original Die Hard also succeeded. However one wants to look at it, if you like any form of Die Hard, you are sure to like Olympus Has Fallen.

Ok so this could happen but probably won't. It's one of those films that's so far out there you hope terrorist don't get any bright ideas-though they probably already have thought of it. Solid premise with character conflicts built in in the first 10 minutes which will play out later on. Great way for movie goers to care about why this character does that. Along with solid action it's hard to find movies I don't mind watching multiple times. This is one of those.

It is a bit far-fetched to think that terrorists can not only invade the White House, but that they can fly helicopters in and large caliber weapons as easily as they seem to in this film. So, OK, it's not supposed to be reality. With that said, it is FULL of action and heroics. And, of course, the good guys win in the end. I have not bought or seen "White House Down: as yet, so I do not know how it compares. But for the fun and action, it is well worth the price. Go get a copy!

I dropped the ball on catching this in the theater. It came out when white house is down did. I made the mistake of seeing that first. So it kind of threw me off this one when I saw the trailer. But then it came on one day and I was like whoa! I need to buy this so I can up convert it at hone. This movie will keep you on the edge of your seat. And now with a sequel in theaters. I think anyone who likes action with a little bit of a plot twist should own this.

If you're looking for a fun "guy movie" with lots of action, this is it! Some of the special effects are obviously CGI, and the writing isn't Shakespeare, but that's not the point. At face value, as an over-the-top action-fest, Olympus Has Fallen does what it was intended to do: take the viewer on a non-stop thrill ride with copious amounts of gun play and action. (Did I mention that there's action..?)

This movie stars Gerard Butler as a secret service agent removed from the white house for failing to prevent the death of the first lady. Koreans come to the white house for a meeting with the president and proceed to overtake the White House and sucessfully kill most of the secret service agents. The president has the entourage join him in the bunker, which proved to be a very big mistake. A lot of death and gunfire in this movie seems to overwhelm the plot.
