In less then a week the clip broke off. Audio quality is good but navigating the menus takes some getting adjusted too.

I usually go through digital recorders about once a year (mostly from drowning them in sweat during the summer). I do a lot of documentary interviews, so I hoped this would be small enough that it would stick up out of my pocket enough to get good sound. I've done about 10 hours of recordings under different conditions and have found it somewhere between good and adequate. You WILL need to use an external speaker if you really want to hear the audio. I wish it had a jack for an external mike for those times when you want to get higher quality recordings. If form factor isn't important, I'd opt for the recorder one step below this one for price.

I bought this as I had misplaced my older Olympus V.R. Good points: it's smaller and easier to clip to my pocket and therefore don't have to hold it. It plugs directly into my USB port (avoiding having to look for a cord), and it has plenty of memory. Downside is that it isn't as intuitive to use as my previous unit. This is partly due to the smaller screen, making the menu system a little more difficult to navigate. Overall though, an excellent recorder.

Great size, really clear recording, I record lectures at school in a bit lecture hall and the play back is pretty clear Love the fact that you can store multiple files and switch between them very easily

I use a pocket recorder in my professional work environment on a daily basis. There are a lot of good recorders out there, however their sizes are not to my liking. This one, has a good form factor but poor features. It is lacking the ability to pause when recording. This necessitates making a new recording even when pausing to gather your thoughts. I was incredulous and couldn't believe that this feature wasn't present. I communicated with tech-support and they assured me that there was no way to pause during a recording. Sound quality was excellent but again features lacking. I returned the unit and purchased a smaller model for $16. Great little unit at a fraction of the price.

I had two of these. I used them while I was an EMT. The recording is great, though the functions are a little involved, it gets the job done. The great thing about this little thing is if you are working on a novel, in class recording the lecture, you will easily forget this thing is in your breast pocket and still recording, no indicator lights (don't know about the legality of that), so you can really get some unfiltered thoughts down. USBing into the computer is seamless and the screen is lit, wish the buttons were backlit. Now for some reason I have two unusable units that have corroded, though they were kept in the house, and when not in use for a long stretch, batteries taken out, so that's $200 I won't get back. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this product is because if it corrodes in a house after a couple of years...that's too much money for something that my Sony - BX Series Digital Voice Recorder($40) never had a problem with.

This recorder is the size of a pen with a clip to attach into a pocket, shirt or notebook. Google your state tape recording laws. You can keep it on standby and activate with one touch. Clearly picks up a conversation and even a crow chattering at a distance away in the background. Easy to download to computer to listen and keep. Extensive hours are possible and battery is easy to charge. Can be listened to directly from unit with proper earbud.

This is a very positive recorder, and holds a lot of voice recordings Has excellent battery life, and is super small for easy take along

I wish Best Buys didn't stop selling this recorder! Arrgh! Please RESTOCK this item since I only trust Best Buy products. I LOVE this little Olympus VP-10 recorder!! I have literally bought5 of them over the years. Either they stopped working or I got liquid in them but still worth it! I think this recorder used to be used by the government 20 years ago and now they sell it to the public. It's saved me in so many ways.

If you are looking for something that is high tech, best reasonably priced, and with easy to operate features... this is the one! This recorder is perfect and very convenient for college or work. It is sleek and can be used from your pocket or notebook. It holds up to 4 GB and you can silently and quickly activate to record in just one touch. Never miss out on a recording opportunity with this digital voice recorder. The microphone is so sensitive, it has the ability to differentiate between voice and noise, and records great audio with low distorted noise.

This unit records in PCM (wav), WMA and MP3. PCM is my preferred method of recording so that was a plus. It is very quiet from handling noise which is common in tiny recorders. Built in USB connection and rechargeable batteries are also a plus. Only downside is the record switch can be flipped on by accident even with the lock engaged. You could drain the battery without knowing it was on if it was in your pocket (the record light is about halfway down the device. The small LCD screen makes menu navigation hard but once you have it set up to your liking, it is not a problem.

Husband needed a recording device for a meeting with the HR department. Other options seemed bulky and awkward, but this one is essentially the size of a pen and easily concealed in a shirt pocket or just alongside a standard notepad or binder etc. worked great, the battery life and storage is good. I’d always recommend doing trial runs with this stuff so you understand how it works and it’s limitations for hearing/muffling. Especially when being covert is key.

I like the small design, I can use it anywhere, put it anywhere on me or set it somewhere, but yet the recordings sound great and clear. I can put it several yards away and still here the recording. This is easy to download the recordings via computer. The recorder is also very easy to charge and lasts quite awhile. I have recorded several hours and the battery was still going.

I'm reviewing a wonderful, handy tool. I bought my first one and promptly lost it the same day I started using it . The price is high for a recorder, so it took a few days to get up the gall to purchase another one . But it does become a part of your arsenal because of the easy recording you can do with it. The rechargeable battery is cool, but it didn't always charge. Encountered that a few mornings and got flustered, it did charge once, just don't really know what was different that time. It's a quick fix though, just throw in a regular alkaline battery and you're good. Have had one in now for a little under a month now, still full. One last thing, female/male USB that comes with the device IS necessary, the ONLY way to get the recordings off. Mac/Pc compatibly easy peasy.

Very discrete and alot of rexord time, good price easy to use and battery life excellent

I was very pleased with this product – The price is reasonable and the sound quality is good. I had wanted something with a lanyard to wear around my neck- but was unable to find any products with a lanyard. With this- I used a braided lanyard and the "pocket clip" as a good facsimile and was able to hang it around my neck to take memos. (women's shirts often do not have a front pocket)

I have had the recorder for a few months now and found it very difficult to set the time and date in the beginning. It does work fine and is very well constructed. It's recording is vert clear and able to be set for several different settings. I have made several recordings and I am able to use either a Mac or PC to listen to the recording and save it. A good machine but there should be a way to set the time, date etc on a computer so that you don't run into the difficulties that I did.

Easy to use. Small enough to fit in a pocket. Good battery life.

This recorder is easy to use as well as it's easy to put in a pocket and not be noticed.
