Being that my it had been 20 years since the purchase of my last Receiver/Surround System I was due for something new. Needed the HDMI through, it had it, didn't need the 4K but I'm now ready if I upgrade my TV. Needed the ability to hook up audio through Optical connections and It has it. Then there's the ease of setting everything up which took less time than it took to pull all the old stuff out entertainment center. The only difficulty I had what getting it to play the Blu-ray through the system without turning it on, so I went over the instructions one more time and got it going. Everything works good, everything plays clear and sound clear. Plenty of power and Full in sound. Would I suggest it to a friend looking for a new Receiver? You Bet Ya! Good product and easy to set up.

If you're looking for an affordable entry position into the Dolby Atmos experience at home, this is it! Pair this with Onkyo's SKH-410 Atmos add-on speakers and you're ready to go. It should be noted that this receiver is 7.1, but does not have separate channels for the Atmos height speakers, so 5.1 will be the best you can manage in the Atmos format with it. There are 9.1 and 11.1 receivers available to support the "full" Atmos experience, but at a considerably higher price. That said, I find the 5.1 Atmos experience more rewarding than the 7.1 DTS experience. I'm utilizing my PS4 for Blu-Ray playback. If you're using something else, please ensure that it has bit-stream direct in its audio options as the audio decoding will need to be done in the receiver for Atmos. I attempted to utilize my XBOX One, but as of this writing it currently did not have the option to utilize bit-stream direct to the receiver. Overall, this is a great receiver at the entry level price and a great way to get yourself into the new Atmos audio format, and if you're even remotely interested, pick this up!

I was not in the market for a new receiver, but when I saw this Onkyo on sale on cyber Monday, I took the opportunity to upgrade my home theater system. After hooking everything up and strategically placing my speakers, 7.1 surround is definitely much better than 5.1. This receiver is loaded with features and all are simple to use. So far, the only negative I've come across is the sound cut out for a split second a couple of times during very loud concurrent explosions while playing COD on my Xbox. Wasn't able to determine the cause. I figured I might need to adjust a setting, but it hasn't repeated the issue, so it might've been an issue w my Xbox, not the receiver. Other than that, I am really enjoying it.

Great sound once setup for your room the automatic calibration is a nice option but I still needed to tune it afterwards. I have a Dolby 5.1.2 setup with this unit using Bose Acoutimass 15 surround and Bose 161 speakers. If you plan on getting 5.1.2 sound from this unit be sure to use Dolby Surround sound mode. Only have one HDMI connection going to the TV as this unit has many HDMI inputs and also includes a connection for HDMI dongles (Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Stick, etc). One downside is the Wii will only connect at 480i and is not showing widescreen on my TV, I don't have this issue if I directly connect the video to the TV (I am using component video cables). Overall this is a good unit.

I had a Yamaha 5.1 that was nice but just wasn't wow. I was thinking about upgrading to Atmos but pretty expensive. I read about Onkyo and had previous experience and loved their amps. Could not believe the price of this amp with Atmos. Onkyo's Discrete Amps make a huge diff. I don't have the Atmos speakers hooked up yet and it already sounds way better. The center channel is so crisp and clear and surround effects are amazing. It now has the Wow factor. I have Klipsch speakers and now they sound like they did in the store. I did a lot of research and you would have to spend a lot more to get a receiver that delivers like this one.

Love the atmos. Wish I would have known that Onkyo made a reciever and speaker kit the kit had the next better reciever and came with atmos speakers. But for even a lower end amp it sounds great! I just pointed two speakers upward at a 20° angle from the ceiling. Sounds superb! Great entry level atmos system. Easy to set up with supplied calibration mic.

If you are on a tight budget but don't want to sacrifice good sound quality then this receiver is a great choice. It has all of the modern features like Dolby atmos and 4k pass thru Plus its 7.1. I bought this as a replacement for a Yamaha v575 that fizzled out on me, twice! This onkyo is a much better fit for my speakers. The sound coming out of the speakers is cleaner and there's more punch coming from the sub. Set up is easy and straight forward. If you are looking for a replacement receiver or a new one a at great price with modern features I highly recommend this onkyo.

I bought this on sale during black Friday, I replaced a 15 year old one and man how technology has changed. It does everything and more than I could ask for, setting up the surround sound was a breeze with the mic. Sounds just fine for my room set up. The one thing that I could say I didn't like was when using your phone with Bluetooth, the phone has to be close, or in front of the receiver. Perfect receiver for my use, surround sound is awesome, Jurassic world had a VERY good sound, as did American sniper!

All the features you need. 2 zones, 7.1 surround, ATMOS, Bluetooth, and plenty of inputs. Power is good too. It could look a little more polished--the volume knob looks cheap, but it does everything you need it to do for less. The only comparable receiver was a Sony. I chose to stick with Onkyo and I haven't been disappointed. Decent selection of Audio modes with good sound quality.

Very very good and powerful easy to set up Bluetooth work well with my iPhone I love it and definitely recommend it!!!!

So far so good. I bought the unit a week before Black Friday Sale and love the unit. I haven't gotten to mess with it too much yet but it deff does the job. Replaced my old Harmon Kardon receiver, was skeptical at first but most of the reviews and price helped me decide on it. Running it at 5.1 and have the ability to upgrade to 7.1 and atmos later on.

Onkyo receiver is a good buy. The price is adequate. Sounds great with my speakers. The option of surround or regular listening is a plus. Wish this model had a phono hookup but are able to work around this. The output is great.

I owned Onkyo many years back and it was great, until it smoked itself. I bought a Sony 1040 and was horrible. Tried as I could it never worked right. Finally decided on this Onkyo and could not be more pleased. I'm using the Onkyo speakers from years ago, 7.1 setup. Read the manual, read online where to set your speakers. Then do the automatic setup with the included mic. Put the mic where you will be seated and let it do its tests with each speaker. Again, I couldn't be more pleased with the system or BestBuy. It's fun hearing things rustle behind you of beside you. I really can't say anything discouraging about it. One thing perhaps is its set on volume 41 for a medium sound level, need to crank it up for more sound. But for me this is fine. It does pass through great, a little delay as it cuts over.But you can turn the amp off and it transfers back to tv speakers. I'm totally pleased. I only have an LG dvd player connected via HDMI. I just select dvd on the Onkyo and it plays, rather than select anything through the tv..

Purchased this on Black Friday as my surround sound receiver to push my Klipsch setup at home. I am thoroughly pleased with its performance thus far. It has more than enough power to handle any size set up. Plus the Bluetooth option is great for when your trying to get stuff done around the house.

I moved into a new apartment and decided to treat myself with this bluetooth receiver. WOW! What a change of life! All i do now is listen to music streaming through my phone with Google Play. I am my own disc jockey! SO much fun. I can still search and do thingson my phone, but obviously incoming phone calls and messages interrupt, but so much fun and so easy to use. As long as the phone is in the same room and not way down the hall, I can stream music anywhere. The other features are great too, the CD player I hooked up to it and the power is great! I highly recommend this receiver for anyone that wants some upgraded technology sound!

It is my first receiver. I am really happy with it. Connections are simple to use and atmos sound is at its best. Got it for a deal on Bestbuy store only. It is very simple to setup just go on YouTube and type the model all the intial setup will be there in the video. Also the sound is amazing and the labels at the back of the receiver is simple to understand. I attached the receiver with Energy take Classic 5.1 and I was amazed by the sound it produces. I am really happy that I bought this receiver. You can have banana Plugs for front speaks only.

Bought this as a family Christmas gift to replace an older receiver. Easy hook up of all accessories with hdmi ports. Included mic did an excellent job of tuning power to each speaker in surround system. Kids are now loving their x-box one.

I bought this for my man cave in the garage. I use it for tv and movies and for listening to music. It has great power and the sound quality is excellent. Now I need to upgrade my speakers to really bring it all together.

I bought this on Black Friday to replace an old Sony receiver that I had for 10 years. It was very simple to set up, it automatically calibrated the speakers and sounds amazing. It will shake the whole house.
