OtterBox, as you may know, is considered one of the best phone case manufacturers out there. After putting this case through its paces, I can see why. The case is a total of 3-pcs. A 2-pc plastic shell lined with some thin foam matting that encases the phone itself, and a rubberized case to surround the plastic. The rubberized case makes it easier to grip than the bare phone. The headphone and charging ports have a rubberized cap that can be put into place when not in use to prevent dust and other foreign objects from getting in there. The case makes an already big phone seem a bit bulkier -- but this is the price you pay to protect your investment. Screen Protection -- In terms of screen protection, the case comes with a built-in screen protector. For me, I found this to be a nice feature -- no need to purchase and separately install a screen protector (and have a bunch of annoying bubbles show up). The screen remains sensitive. Because the screen protector isn't stuck onto the screen itself, some dirt may slip through the openings to between the screen & screen protector (I've been using the case for about a week now, and already there is some dirt trapped inside) The rubberized case extends approximately 0.4cm above the screen, offering a fair amount of protection from the occasional bumps and scratches, as well as scratches from laying your phone face-down. My biggest gripe with this case would be that the protective rubber edge makes it difficult to slide down the notification menu on the Note5. It sometimes takes a few attempts with various fingers to get that menu to slide down -- this may be something that I'll just need to get used to. All in all, this is good case that offers excellent protection from drops and scrapes. However, since dirt is able to get beneath the screen protector, and the rubber edge makes it difficult to slide down the notification menu, I am unable to give this 5-stars. Nonetheless, this is worth a look to protect your investment.

You get what you pay for. Overpriced, but you do get a high quality item with best warranty. Quite protective and easy to assemble. Holds up solid in phone drops.Wanted to give it a 4.5 just due to price, but since there is no 1/2 point credit, won't dock it a whole point. All the slots line up perfect and there is no untucked seam expeosed. EVerything fit perfect when done.

I really like this case. Its very protective and sturdy. The design is a little plain. I was worried the case would be too bulky but its no bulkier than others since the phone is already large. I didn't like the built in screen protector because I felt I had to push harder on the touch screen. I removed it and applied my own. The clip is convenient. Otherwise, great case.

I've always had otterbox cases on my phones, built in screen protector and belt clip is a major plus for me, it's a little on the expensive side and it adds bulk to your phone, however you know that your investment is well protected.

I had this case for my previous galaxy s5 and it was great. It always dealt with the drops and kept my phone from getting damaged when it was raining. The thing I like the most about this case for the Note 5 is that it's not that bulky. The only downside is the fact that the bottom right corner isn't 100% protected due to the pen in the bottom of the phone. I actually dropped my phone yesterday and it, of course, landed on that corner. However, it didn't mark up at all. I think the case could have benefited from an open/close piece similar to the charger to protect that corner of the phone.

I've owned Otterboxes before and they've never failed me. Nice double layer protection with rubber inside for absorbing falls and it also has a screen protector. Fits perfect on my phone. Overall good quality case.

I have used the Defender series for the past two years on my Samsung Galaxy 3 tablet with great success. Now that I bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 phone there was no question that it goes into a case before I walk out of the store and no question what kind. I have dropped the tablet and now the phone from heights as much as 8 feet off the ground with the only "bad" thing happening is that the cover for the case flys off when hitting the floor. I give this case 4 3/4 stars with only two cons. The first is price. The OtterBox Defender Series is pricey but well worth the expense. The second is weight. These cases are heavy! and my opinion is they "double" the weight of your device. It is very protected and I recommend it.

This is our second OtterBox. We have one for our Note 3 and one for our Note 5. It is the most protective case available and very easy to assemble. Some external accessories may be difficult to plug into the charging port at the base due to the nature of the design, but most cables and charging plugs fit fine. OtterBox has excellent customer service and if you ever scratch the screen cover or have any other issues, they will replace the entire thing for a very small fee. The first time you drop your phone, you will be so happy you have an OtterBox!

I've been using Otterbox for years. i just bought the Note 5 to replace my Note 4. It boggles my mind why they haven't made the screen protector more compatible with the S Pen. There is way too much resistance when using the S Pen and leaves highly noticeable marks that really need pressure to remove. I'm not surprised because it was the same way with the Note 4 Defender. On that one, I removed the Defender screen protector and went without (which is likely what I will do this time). On my Galaxy S3, I removed the screen protector and installed one on the phone itself, which was much better than the one Otterbox provided. History has shown that they don't put enough time and research into the screen protectors. Especially for phones with a pen/stylus, Otterbox shouldn't advertise the screen protector because it's a hindrance. Remove it and quit charging for it. Other than the screen protector, it's a top notch product with excellent customer service.

Great case for protecting your phone. Lightweight and not a bulky design

This case is like all the otter box cases i love them everytime i by a new phone i buy one of these cases i dont carry any of my phones without one because im very hard on them i love this case fits the phone well just wish there were more color options for this device

Otter box is great. My last one I dropped more than once and one time on a slippery gravel road. The screen protector was scratched up a bit but the phone was fine. Could not ask for more.

The protection is outstanding on this and I have had a Note 3 that had the same case. They have improved the plastic cover to be more easily responsive when using the stylus and the case is lighter but has already proven itself as I had dropped the phone pretty nasty one time already and no problems!!

This case has protected my phone on so many occasions. Buying this phone case will most certainly keep your phone from getting cracked screens or scratches if you just so happen to drop your phone. However, this does NOT water proof the phone or protect against water damage, so be aware of that.

Have tried all other cases mainly cheaper ones and this is truly Superior.Gives great protection and is not overly bulky!.Was skeptical at first but can honestly say this is the best case even though its fairly expensive.Worth the money to protect my phone which is a galaxy note 5.

I've owned an Otterbox on every new phone I've purchased since 08. This was my first defender case. It was a little bulky for my taste so I returned it for the commuter series. I'm sure if your rough on your phones or work outside this phone case would be ideal for you.

This case may seem expensive, but when you drop your $800 phone from a ladder and it breaks, $60 doesn't seem to expensive anymore. This has great grip and although it makes your phone a little bulkier, i have such a better time and sense of security with this on.

This case is one of the toughest out there, its easy to grab not too heavy and i like the fact i dont have to buy a separate screen protector.

I've tried other phone cases and always go back to Otterbox. I had the Commuter series for my previous Galaxy S phone. Then switched to the Defender series for my last 3 Note phones because of the expensive cost of these phones. They are definitely not as compact, but worth the cost and more bulk considering the cost of repairing or replacing the expensive Note phone. I dropped my previous Note 4 face down on concrete, and no damage. So, there was no question that I would get another Otterbox Defender for my Note 5. The only problem would be in using a dual usb flash drive. The bulk of the Defender case prevents the flash drive from fully attaching into the phone usb port. You would have to remove the entire case. That is disappointing, but still worth having the Defender for an expensive phone.

This case fits my Samsung Note 5 very well. It clips solidly into the belt clip. I have used Otterbox Defender case on my old phone and the phone looked like new when I passed it on to other person. Excellent protection.
