Since the front rim of the case does not curve in towards the phone, grabbing the phone with case feels awkward.

Wrong, this thing is cheap, cheap, cheap. Not worth +$30. The clear acrylic back came already scratched, there was nothing there to protect it during transit which is disappointing. The rubber around the edge was jagged and sticky and appeared to be made of foam rather than a vinyl rubber. All in all, try to avoid this if possible.
