Also the pen is held further way from the tablet (1/4 inch) so the magnetic hold is slightly weaker and sometimes falls off the tablet (easy to lose pen).

Worst Otter Box Ever

The Surface version does nothing to protect the screen. It will not protect from falls or screen scratches. The case has to be partially removed in order to use the kickstand. It is overpriced and protects nothing. Out of three Surfaces, two have cracked screens from minor falls. My Kindle Otter Box took much bigger falls and the Otter Box protected. Not this one...

The cover is built with that in mind and there's no option to protect the screen without it. Provides sufficient protection for the back but the screen is really the most important part so without that, it's 50/50 for me.
