Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the 8-Outlet Surge Protector's surge protection, quality, and ample outlet count. Users appreciate its ease of use, suitable size, and neat appearance. The slim design is also a plus for fitting into tight spaces. However, some customers find the front light to be undesirable.

    Peace of Mind

I'm glad we got this surge protector...we had a smaller plug in protector with our previous tv, had a surge and the tv is now toast. I like that there is just one cord going to the plug now, and there is an actual breaker in the unit. Plus, it fits in our vintage italian 80's tv stand perfectly...was a bit concerned about that! All over a good buy, especially since we got it half-off.

It's slim and helps organize all the plugs as well as protecting all your devices. What I do not like about it is the power indicator light it way too bright and it's always on. If you like to watch TV in the dark it can be very distracting.

If you have anything of importance plugged into one of those surge protectors that you see sold for ten dollars or so at hardware stores, just replace it with a cheap extension cord! They do indeed break the connection if a surge happens. At least at first and at least a small surge. Most of them work one time then the powder inside gets burned up and they will fail the next time. That is when your new 3 thousand dollar TV gets zapped! A few of those are slightly better but not much. The full line of Panamax protectors work with a high speed breaker which will protect your equipment repeatedly and accurately and lightning (no pun intended) fast! Panamax has a video on their web page demonstrating the difference where the cheap one actually begins to smoke and may possibly cause a fire. I recommend watching that, then see if you believe this protection is worth it. I did and I bought a couple of these afterword. The biggest difference between each Panamax model is how many plugs there are. So figure how many items you need to plug in and add two for the future and buy what you need. Every outlet is protected by the way. Some other companies offer multiple outlets but not all the outlets are protected. What is the point in that?

Trusted Protection For My Valued Equipment

Did I really NEED this, probably not. The power delivery in most countries provide stable electricity, and most power supplies in devices can handle the minor fluctuations that do occur. On the other hand, my computer equipment holds a lifetime of memories, my sound system is a decent investment, and I really like taking care of the gear I have. Panamax/Furman is a trusted name in power protection, and the MR-4000 had the slim profile I needed for my computer desk. The 8 outlets were more than enough for my desktop audio and other peripherals that didn't need a UPS, but I also use small APC UPS for my computer and internet devices. The only con I can think of is that the Power On light in the front of the unit is very bright and can be distracting. But extremely minor, and can be remedied or ignored. Conclusion: Slim profile. Solid build. Great value when you don't need UPS or other advanced features, but just want trusted power protection.

This surge protector was easy to install and takes up minimal space. The flat plug allows furniture to fit close to the wall without interfering with the plug. It is sized so that it fits in a stack with the Blu Ray player or other components and quietly does its job in the background. I have not experienced a surge or power failure since its install, but I feel confident that both the power and cable lines will be protected. The only caution that I have is that some larger power cords (power packs) may actually cover two outlets, so you may not get o use all 8 on this device without some creative engineering.

I like that it looks like it belongs on the shelf without exposing the wires . The power on the front is a bit bright, other than that it seems to do what it's suppose to do.

A normal serge protector will not condition the power. this looks great a preforms well. at my house due to wiring we have dirty power, and you can tell when you see the power feedback in the TV image or humming in the sound in extreme situations like i was in. with this, it works great and would recommend it to any one upgrading a tv and/or sound

I highly recommend Panamax products for those who have invested a decent amount in their AV equipment. I have a couple of these units as well as an older version and have not had any issues with surges with any of my equipment hooked up to them. I have lost other equipment hooked up to cheaper surge protectors so I believe these work as advertised.

I took the plunge and stepped up to 4K during the President's Day sale. I wanted clean power management from a reliable brand that could protect my new gear. This fit the bill perfectly: great quality, easy on the eyes (a plus) and reasonably priced. Best Buy also matched the Amazon price and that saved me some big $. Thanks BB!

When we were upgrading our TV, computer, and network we were not planning to add this unit. We are glad we did. It allowed us to deal with our shortage of outlets in that area and eliminate the nest of cords and cables we use to have. It greatly simplified things and gives us surge protection to boot!

So far, so good. I like the outlets in the back and in the front. Makes it easy access versus the panel type of surge protector that was placed behind the tv (this one sits in the entertainment center). We seem to get a lot of power “bleeps”, so I will say it’s been good so far (3 months).
