When Flat Games Get Dimensional Good Things Happen

Paper Mario is a good mix of traditional Mario gameplay, with RPG battle elements that require planning and specific attacks on enemies that are only vulnerable to specific elements. The game is very easy early on, but this sticker based attack system requires not only timing, but also many trips back to town to purchase specific attacks, otherwise certain mini bosses are virtually impassible. The game is fun and looks great. Seeing the flat sticker characters on a 3 Dimensional plane is very cool looking. A cute fun game for kids with a little side helping of challenging battles for us RPG fans and bigger kids (adults).

I enjoyed the first 2 paper mario games for the N64 and Gamecube the most. When they strayed away from that in the wii one I didn't enjoy it as much. This one is closer to the first 2, which I was happy to see.

Paper Mario's 3D effect really stands out. The game is different from other Mario titles, but is fun enough to keep you entertained. Great value!

This is a decent game in the Paper Mario series. I do enjoy playing it, but the pacing is a little slow. Worth a shot if you get a chance.

    Tarnishes the Paper Mario name

This looks like a Paper Mario game. It even acts like a Paper Mario game, somewhat superficially. But compared to previous entries in the series, which had companions and alternate protagonists in addition to Mario, and dozens of original characters, this one has only one original character who serves as constant companion. Battles are annoying due to stickers that disappear on use, but you can walk past pretty much any of them without penalty since there's no level up or experience system. Special "Thing Stickers" are highly effective in battle and needed for puzzles and boss battles, but are expensive to replace, and you never know which one to use on a boss going in. The hint system is near-useless. Puzzles are challenging, however, and there are lots of collectibles to find. That was enough to keep me going for 30-40 hours, but I won't be re-playing this game anytime soon. If you haven't already, play Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, or Super Paper Mario instead.

The series is fun and this one does the Paper Mario idea good yet somehow not as fun as the home consoles. The stickers thing is a pretty brilliant addition, though. I bought this at $8 so it was a great bargain for just a fun-loving and different Mario experience. Highly enjoyable, not groundbreaking.

I bought Super Paper Mario on the Nintendo Select titles on the Wii. I didn't like the game at all. I was under a bad impression of the Paper Mario Series. The only reason I picked up a copy of Paper Mario Sticker Star, was because this game was for sale. 14.99 plus tax. What a great game, this game makes you think and it's really fun. This game is way better than New Super Mario Bros 2 and Super Paper Mario Wii. You better buy this video game before it's gone for good. Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven.

35 hours into my first playthrough and I've finally finished this excellent "rpg-lite". The story is enjoyable for all ages and the combat system is more active and engaging than other recent RPGs. Completionists should be aware that getting 100% on this game requires a lot of backtracking and grinding, but it remains fairly enjoyable all the way through. Having some strategy in your use of attacks helps to make the game easier, but it is not needed all the time. Overall, great experience!

I've played a little bit of past Paper Mario games and although this one is fun I'd say it's one of the weaker games in the series, but still worth getting for a fan of the series, Mario, or RPGs if you can get it under 20 bucks which it goes on sale for quite often it'd be worth grabbing.

I got this game when I bought my 3DS XL and I am so glad I picked this one up. I am a big fan of the Paper Mario games and this one is just as good as the others, although plays differently. In this game, stickers are everywhere you go. On walls, trees, fences, under carpets, etc... they are everywhere. You use these stickers to fight. For example, use a hammer sticker to hit the enemy on the head, while a jump sticker will make Mario do a jump attack. I really enjoy the sticker battles. I think they add something new to the franchise. Throughout the game you collect special sticker stars as you advance through the game. You're goal (as usual) is to save Princess Peach. There is a lot of content in this game, so expect a lengthy game to keep you entertained. Overall, I highly recommend this game! The only negative I can think of is the boss battles. Bosses usually need a special sticker to be defeated (not always, but some do) and the game doesn't hint enough at which particular one to use. This can become a little frustrating.

I found this to be a surprisingly good addition to the Paper Mario series. The gameplay is actually quite challenging, and the humor is top-notch. My biggest complaint is that the story, like in most recent Mario games, is very unoriginal.
