So, it's late at night, lights are off, and hubby and I bundle in for a horror movie. And then it begins. Half way into this movie, I swear I hear things moving in the hallway, and suddenly, I'm asking hubby to stand guard over me as I go anywhere in the house, despite having every light in the house turned on, mind you. Yup, it freaked me out that much, this movie. Slow paced, but creepy as all h*ll! FYI: I highly DON'T recommend watching this with your foot hanging off the edge of the bed. I say this because my foot lazily dangled over the edge, and only after a breeze hit my foot did I finally pull my foot away from the edge, certain things were waiting to grab me from under the bed. It was really distracting.

This is the one that started it all. In a time when big budget movies fail to thrill they brought us a low-budget masterpiece of horror. Cameras capture the invisible and impossible. Don't watch it alone in the dark.

As usual, the 1st movie out of the lot is usually the best. It’s scary through and through. It will leave you creeped out for many nights.

This movie is great! The first of a few installments and the original is far better than the other following sequels.

Not What It was in The Cinema

Paranormal Activity' is based around a couple living in their house who are being haunted by a poltergeist so decide to record the events unfolding in front of them. Despite the hype the film received in.the cinemas, it isnt the best film at home due to the atmosphere of the cinema being lost. The story has been done before, the characters are typical of this genre and the sections in between each main event break the tempo of the film. Overall, the film was made for cinema and doesn't suit the small screen although the ending gives your a very nasty surprise. If you have seen it in the cinema, don't bother watching it on DVD/ Blu-ray but if you havnt seen it, its worth a watch on a dark friday night.

    Suspense, not horror

This really is great movie. Filmed on a single camera which is handheld during the day, and mounted on a tripod for the nighttime scenes. It has a very "Blair Witch Project" or "Cloverfield" feel to it, and is VERY suspensful, but I wouldn't classify it as scary. A few parts will make you jump right out of your seat, so it isn't completely lacking when it comes to being classified as a horror film. I really enjoy the small cast; they suck you into the story, but with that said, it's not the greatest acting...no Oscar winners here. The length was a little short at only 86 minutes but the story moves quickly and really doesn't lack plot or substance. A great pick for turning the lights down and curling up on the sofa with your girl or guy.

Original Horror flim not the same old tired stuff

So, is it worth all the hype? Is it in the same league as The Exorcist, or little more than a pale shadow of Halloween 4? The premise of the story is simple. A young couple, seemingly terrorised by an unknown entity, decide to set up a camera to record the action whilst they sleep and effectively document a haunting from the inside. But is it scary? Paranormal Activity is one of those films, much like Blair Witch, that will divide movie fans across the globe in to two distinct camps. One camp will be convinced it is a truly terrifying and disturbing experience, the other will be completely un-impressed by the scares promised through the intriguing viral campaign and Internet hype. Whichever camp you fell in to for the The Blair Witch Project, will probably designate where you will sit for this movie too. Essentially, this will be based on whether or not you buy in to the world that is being portrayed by the central characters. There are next to no special effects, no haunting soundtracks, and no signs of people wearing their innards on the outside. In order to get something out of the film, you really have to put something in - to empathise with the characters and experience their trials alongside them. A serious investment in how it would really feel to be in the couple's shoes, rather than sit there and wait to be scared, is how this film will impress. I did just that, and to me it was one of the most truly original, chilling and nerve-jangling movies I have ever seen. From the moment the characters are introduced and you are slowly brought in to their world, so the empathy for their increasingly disturbing experiences rises. Even now, when I think of scenes from the film, I can still feel the goose-bumps rise. If I had one criticism, it would be that there was little evidence of the terrorised couple searching for help from outside themselves; but, considering the budget of $11,000, I can understand why the director had to make that choice. If you fall in to the lust-for-gore camp as highlighted above, I can't say it's really going to be your cup of tea. If you are in the 'Blair Witch' camp then see it, 'enjoy' it, and carry it around with you for long after the credits roll.

Loved the whole idea of a creepy ghost trying to get Micah's girlfriend. Loved him in the movie, he made the whole thing so enjoyable, besides there being a creepy crawler in the house lol. I didn't like the actress she complained and screamed waaaay to much for my liking. Other thing i didn't like was not being able to see the demon in its true form before it took over the girl's body. Besides that is was a really spooktacular film lol.

I think that this was a pretty good movie. I think that the story line of all the movies could have been better. With this being the first film of the paranormal activity series i would say a its a great beginner. looking from the movie as an individual it lacked information that could have been put into the film. Over all the film was great and i would most definity watch this movie again.
