so it seems to be a common problem with the headset is the mic is way too sensitive. No matter how low I set it in windows or VOIP applications when you shut off the headset it would manage to turn the gain up I'm assuming inside the headset and you would be annoyingly loud. I put in a support ticket and they actually told me to return the headset.
Outside of the whole mic issue the sound quality is great and battery life is long. I didn't want to give it anymore than 2 stars only because 80% of the reason I use a headset is for the mic.

These are my first gaming headphones so I didn't know what to look for. I knew I wanted something that I could use for everything so the fact that the Afterglow Prismatic were universal headphones certainly caught my attention. The sound quality is amazing, they are very comfortable to wear, the mic works great, and they are one of the best looking headsets out there. And at $100, I challenge you to find me a better deal. The bass boost setting works amazingly for Halo.

The not so great part of these is that they are heavy and very uncomfortable. They make my head hurt and I've only had them on about 30 minutes. I've tried to move them around, but they're just really bothersome. I adjusted them a larger so the top piece is not pushed so hard against my head, but they still bother me, they don't go any larger and now the headset is very loose now. If you headbang or even turn your head they slide around and fall off sometimes.
Every time you turn the headset on lose your color.. it's back to blue. I don't think you can turn the color off. I don't want it at all. More battery life please. Someone elsewhere said you can turn the light off by holding down mute for 2-3 seconds.. LOL that turns it off.
Every time I turn the headset on the mic is back on. How annoying. I'm not even going to use the mic 99% of the time.
The good part.. sound is good. I don't really have anything to compare them to, but my previous $60 set of Logitech wireless, these sound a lot better.
I'm going to return them and hopefully go with a set of Astro A50's.

I bought this headset for the primary use of listening to music, and they don't disappoint. The sound quality is amazing, these sound 10 times better than my beats and there half the price. They're very comfortable and don't weigh a ton either. I also tried them in my Xbox and the sound is perfect. And with the three different sound modes it makes it perfect to find your comfort zone of listening. I would definitely recommend getting a pair of these.

I bought this mainly to replace my PX5 (I had that for awhile now and decided to go on with something else). 1st of all, the game volume are awesome, nice and crisp. My only complain is these have quite a uncomfortable fit for me (especially wearing them for a long period of time). Overall, I'm still impress on these headphone.

I got this headset simply because I wanted to go wireless. after having the Gears of War 3 headset for so many years (had them replaced 3 times for different issues) I just wanted something different. I can't begin to tell you how much I love these headsets. The biggest thing for me is, I can turn my TV down to zero and get all the sound into my headset from my XBOX and from watching regular TV. Now my wife can stop nagging me about turning the TV down while she is trying to sleep! The surround sound and bass is great, the individual volume controls for game sound and voice sound is great, the microphone options are great, I even like changing it to different colors based on my mood, LOL! Hopefully the design will only get better over time for this headset, it's a tad bit bulky, but who cares when you have all of those features! Getting COD Ghost today, can't wait to use my headsets with this game.

I bought this for a 10 year old and thought for sure he would never wear them because I thought they were too big, but he loves them. He never plays his PS3 without them and he really gets a big kick out of hearing other players talk to him while he's playing.

I ordered this headset because my turtle beach x12s were breaking down. got the headset today, 1/31/2015.
lets start with the good.
Pros
-lovely LED colors and changeable colors
- mute button/power button, jacks and volume all on the left earphone
-Sound was pretty decent.
- walked to my kitchen with the headset on. made a sandwich while listening to music.
now the cons...
- After a bit of wearing it my ears starts to hurt, roughly 30 min of wearing it
- Mic quality is low and WAY to sensitive. I could hear myself gently rubbing my face with the mic on...
- setting wont save after you turn the headset off, lighting and volume ect.ect.
- heard buzzing/humming sound when the usb was plugged into my xbox AND PC. I even tried a USB adapter, still continued. very annoying.
- insanely difficult to set up on your PC. had to switch all other spear drivers off to make the headset work and even then after getting the mic to work, when i switched sound modes the mic stopped working...
In short, this is not a good headset. It looks beautiful with the LED lights and head casing but thats all it has going for it. The sound quality is nothing special.
I'm buying some headphones and a separate headset for my 360 and returning this headset.

Good headset with a major flaw

I got the Afterglow headset based on other reviews here and I will say that they are pretty great. Good, full sound, clear audible voice quality, straightforward controls and easy to use. What caused these to only get 4 stars though is that when on a call (like Skype) and the mute button is pressed, everyone can hear the physical button being pressed as well as a high pitched beep... the same one the wearer hears when the button is pressed. I'm not a huge gamer, but I am on conference calls a lot and thought these would be great for calls and listening to music in-between them - but other people hearing when I go on mute is a deal breaker unfortunately.

The sound quality was great at times....other times it wasn't so great. They were an ok replacement for a 3 year old wired headset, however I wouldn't do ANY audio recording with them. Lasted me a good 8 months however the battery has gone belly up and I'm forced to use my protection plan today (always get a protection plan).

It's my pleasure to write the first review of this awesome headset. Originally went to buy the Pulse headset from Sony but came home with this piece instead. Changed my mind at the store because the Afterglow headset is universal and I can use it with my PS3, 360 and PC. Also, the manufacturer cared enough to put the frequency response chart on the package. I'm a musician and glad to see that the manufacturer thought some consumers would understand the sound tech of the product. You got to experience this headset's sound; it is just beyond incredible. You wouldn't expect such full, crisp sound from a headset at this price point. Puts headsets at much higher prices to shame. Don't miss this great buy.

Excellent but not for us!

Bought two pairs of headsets for the girlfriend and I. It lasted a few days before we returned them. The sound was excellent! The chat quality is average. It sounded like if there was no game or chat going on, when switching panels, there was static in the earphones. The headsets were too uncomfortable for our little ears.
We also have two 360's, ps3 & two TV's set up. The transition to set up two headsets was too complicated. The newer LG TV we own does not have an audio out or headphone jack, so the headphones couldn't even be used.
Everyone's different, so I would suggest giving them a shot. But this set was just not for us! We made the switch to skullcandy where the sound is perfect and the headset is more comfortable.

This is the only headset I could find with full wireless functions for XBox, mobile, and PC. I unboxed the product and first noticed the extreme number of cords. The dongle had a cord sticking out, as well as a seperate cord for the XBox and mobiles. The manual was confusing and made key functions like Power ON by holding MUTE hard to find. The colors are cool, but to change or disable them, you have to hold a MODE button on the side and wait patiently for the thing to cycle through the colors. If it remembered my preference, that would be fine. But no, I must reselect the color in that long process every time.
I quickly saw how much cord swapping you must do for this. For the PS3, you need to swap the AV cord. Same with Wii. For the XBox, however, you must swap the cord AND plug a green cord from the headphones into the 2.5mm jack on the controller. For PC, you plug in the dongle AND the 3.5mm headphone plug. No wireless for mobile, you must use the included 3-ring cord. The fact that the dongle can't run on batteries, has a somewhat lacking range (I couldn't walk outside much at all, although inside worked great!), and required a USB port but couldn't transmit sound both in and out from it for any device, it's not the best.
The quality is probably the best thing. The raw audio impressed me, but cycling through the modes (raw, bass, surround) stunned me even more! However, the headphones got uncomfortable after just 20-some minutes of use. Adjusting didn't help much, it still was forcing into my head/ears.
After all of that, I would conclude that for $50-75, I could put up with all of this. But at $100, I'm looking into other options. I would recommend this if the issues listed above are fixed.

I must say I'm very happy with the purchase I made. I really enjoy the versatility. Being able to use it on the Xbox 360, Ps3, and Computer, really gives you the freedom to listen to your activity without interrupting others daily functions, and/or sleep, whilst still enjoying the crystal clear sound. The 50mm speakers offer deep low ends, yet high sharps; the perfect headset for gaming, music, and movies. The dials on the back of the headset are very easy to use, such as the game to chat function, and the volume function. There's a mode button on the side, which has 3 built in presets you can choose from, from a bass end sound, to a higher sharpened sound. The thing that really caught my eye was the L.E.D. lighting embedded into the headset. Why not listen to music, or game, within fashion? You have the option to change the color to your liking, and thus giving you the opportunity to look in the mirror and see how cool you truly are(A little sarcasm intended). The main thing that didn't give me a 100% liking to this product, is how tight it is on my head. I wear a 7 1/8 hat, I wouldn't consider my noggin the biggest, yet, this headset seems like it's made for a 6 3/4 head. I also wear glasses, so it crams the frame of my glasses into my temples, and I often need to adjust the set on my head. Overall, I truly enjoy the headset, and would definitely recommend it (unless your head is 500 lbs).

Not Worth the Money

I was initially super-excited to get these in the mail, picked them up during a Cyber Monday sale in 2013.
After a little over a month of owning them, though, definitely no where remotely worth the money.
The sound quality is OK. Only "OK", to me. They're great at cutting out background noise, because they completely cover my ears, but they also cut off my circulation because of how tight they are (even at the largest setting).
The biggest gripe I have is when connecting these to any mobile device, you have to use the "Line in" audio jack. I've had $5-$10 headphones from Big Lots that sound better. The sound cuts out randomly if you happen to accidentally bump into the cord at all.... even if a soft breeze touches it. It's ridiculously sensitive. ALSO, the headphones don't seem to stay lit up while the audio jack is in... they turn off after about 5 minutes or so.
Aesthetically... I typically wear headphones that wrap around the back of my head, or ear clips (like ear buds, but with a headphone attached), which are great for doing most cardio workouts. With these... not so much. They're massive. Looks like a spaceship has landed on your head, so when wearing them outside, 90% of the population just stares at you lol. Maybe it's my inexperience with this style of headphones, but I just didn't consider how silly they look when worn out in the public.
Overall... I'd be happier with a $5-$25 set than blowing $100+ on oversized, so-so sounding headphones. I'm very disappointed in my purchase, and if I could send in for a refund, I would today.

The mic is too sensitive

I've had this mic for about a month or two and mainly used it for sound, the sound is great i can hear footsteps and everything in the game. Although the mic is way too sensitive, recently I've been talking to friends online and they say my voice is too loud when the mic is pushed farthest away from my mouth. They can also hear a pin drop from 2 feet away. Overall this is a great headset and i would recommend it to anyone, but I can't speak to anyone without them saying i need a new mic.

My wife bought these for me for an anniversary gift,as play a lot of games online and they get tired of hearing me blowing things up(in game). i was amazed that they would connect to the computer,as i have found they are the only ones that would work on all gaming systems. the sound quality is rich and deep, and was very easy to set up,just plug it in and away i went submerged into a new gaming experience. and the 3 different sound settings really made a huge difference in what i wanted to (game music tv). loved the lights to..a lot of choices as far as color! Great buy!

This by far has got to be the best headset I've used. The 3 different modes make it very easy to adjust to your level of hearing. It is well worth 100 bucks. It's universal so you can use it almost on anything. The lights don't work though when I plugged them into my all-in-one Mac. I was really satisfied with the quality of the sound it produced, and listening to music got 10x better. If this were to compare to Beats, it would be better tenfold. There is one thing however that troubled me first, but actually made me enjoy it better, is apparently when you speak into the microphone, you sound like a person in outer space or it sounds like you're talking into a walkie talkie. You won't be dissatisfied.

I had purchased this headset for my PS3 in my man cave. Unfortunately, for it to work, I had to run the PS3 composite cable from my PS3 to the surround sound. If it was just hooked to my TV, this would have not been an issue at all. The projector is on the ceiling, so running the cord there would have been a nightmare. I had to return them, but ONLY because I needed a simple USB plug in. I then purchased the Sony Pulse Elite and I can honestly say, the Afterglow has better sound and bass. If you are looking for a good sounding inexpensive headset for gaming, these are the way to go. They did work for my PC by just plugging it in the USB.
