Got these for pc gaming the other night. The sound is like listening to a tin can. They aren't compatible with some voice chat programs on PC. Fit was good and they were neat looking though. I don't recommend them for PC gaming, probably great for console though!

    Uncomfortable, Poor sound quality

I was shopping for a new headset to replace my old Sennheiser PC 150's which still sound great but the mic started having issues after 10+ years. I would have gone with Sennheiser again but this time I wanted a wireless headset which they don't make at this time. I picked up a pair of these because they got decent reviews here and on Amazon (for the old model) and wanted to try out a new brand. I ended up returning them after 1 day. 1st - I had issues getting the microphone to get detected by Windows. For some reason, when plugged into the rear USB port, only the headphones would get detected, but not the MIC. I also didn't like how you had to plug this into both a USB port and the Analog Audio Line out. 2nd - when plugged into the rear USB port, the wireless signal from this headset interfered with my Wireless NIC card which I have connected to a 802.11n network. Turning on the headset would cause the connection to my router to fail. I managed to work around both of these issues by plugging the USB into one of the front ports on my desktop, the microphone was detected here for some reason, and there was less network interference but the headset still caused my wifi internet to act finicky. Beyond the setup issues, I found this headset to be extremely uncomfortable. They're advertised as circumaural headphones which means they should completely cover or go around your ears, except the opening is awkwardly shaped and not that big so unless you have very tiny ears this headset will squeeze them uncomfortably! Lastly, the sound quality paled in comparison to my old Sennheiser set. They also seemed to lack directional sound support. There was also a constant and very annoying low buzz whenever there was no sound coming out of the headphones. Might have been feedback from the MIC. I returned these to Best Buy and picked up a pair of Logitech G930's from another retailer - they installed painlessly, are comfortable, sound good and have not caused any issues with my WiFi network!

    Disappointing Headset

In a nutshell I hate this headset! I was very excited to get this headset so I'm suffering a huge disappointment. My cheap corded gaming headset sounds just as good. Due to the bulkiness and weight of the headset my head and ears hurt while wearing them. Due to the positioning and large size of the USB wireless receiver it could easily damage the USB port it is plugged into if bumped or bent. This almost happened to my laptop. As soon as I got the headset I attached the wireless receiver to my laptop. Only a few minutes after being attached to my laptop it was barely bumped and the wireless receiver bent upward. My laptop is brand new so I was not happy that my USB port was possibly damaged already! As far as I can tell, and thank goodness, there was no damage to either objects... If I use this headset with my laptop it has to be placed on a flat surface with lots of room to keep the wireless receiver safe. So I might as well have a desktop if I plan to keep this headset. Very frustrating! I really don't want to take this headset back because I don't want to have to pay a restocking fee but this headset is not cheap (to me anyway) and most likely will sit in a drawer. Not sure what to do at this point. Bummed!

Very disappointing, heavy static, poor quality

Heavy static since I hooked it up... Within days the audio chat cable connector fractured deep in my controller jack, rendering that jack worthless. PDP took a month to send replacement, and only then I realized that the static problem was unrelated to the low quality chat cable. By that time it was too late to return. The glitzy features can't make up for design problems (static#, poor quality #e.g., audio cable) and surly customer service.

This is the one headset you could ever need. Everything about it is just amazing. Drawn to the futuristic lights at first but discovered that it has an amazing sound and it works with everything and does it from far far away.

    Not comfortable and CONSTANT buzzing

    Posted .

For the price I paid I expected a headset that was functional and comfortable. The headset is very uncomfortable with respect to the amount of pressure it is putting on my head, and the fact that it compresses my ears in a very uncomfortable way. There is a constant buzzing sound that makes it hard to listen to lectures and is excessively noticeable if you are wearing them when no audio is playing. I tried returning these today but I had exceeded the 15 day return policy best buy has. They didn't offer to exchange the headphones either and said I have to contact the manufacturer with any problems. I have a pair of Fatal1ty headphones and JVC which are extremely comfortable and have comparable audio quality with no discomfort no matter how long I keep them on. My primary reason for getting these was because they are wireless but that seems to be the main problem besides the discomfort. Huge waste of money, Ill be looking to buy from companies who have a 1 month return policy from now on.

This headset was very heavy for my 12 year old so I returned it right away and bought a turtle beach headset.

Get the Turtle Beach PX3 instead

    Posted .

I had a Turtle Beach PX3 for years that I used on both my Xbox 360 and my PC. I decided after the headset broke 2 years later, to try something new. Bad choice... This headset is easy to setup, pairs easily, is sturdy, and the lights are subtle, and look good. BUT... the headset can't handle the volume being all the way up, it started giving a hum like the speakers were gained up too high. At any level of volume, sound playback when opening chat clients (vent, teamspeak3, etc) was distorted. The worst thing for me, however, was the headset fit itself. The headset gave me a massive headache due to pressure on my head within 5 mins of having it on. The "over the ear" cups are more like an "on the ear" cup. They don't cover your ears at all, the faux leather is like it isn't even there. I boxed it back up within 10 mins of opening it and drove it back to Best Buy to get another PX3. Since the cost of the TB PX3 has come down ($99 at the time of this post), it's the same price, is a solid headset, audio quality is excellent, controls are fantastic, setup is easy, and it's durable as long as you don't rage quit with the headset. Get the PX3 instead. It works for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC/Mac. To change, you just disconnect the USB, slide the switch to the needed console setting (on the transmitter), and reconnect the USB. Couldn't be easier.

Not quite over the ear headphones so hurts to wear longer than an hour. Could also hear some buzzing unless game sound was on. Took a while to get mic to work. All my friends said the mic was ok but could hear static. Returning them for something more premium, maybe the A50???

My afterglow was quite good, however after a week or two the thing started to act up. Meaning not turning on, staying charged, staying on, and the colors started to stop working.

    Worst Headset

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have been playing video games for a long time. I have a pair of Astro A50's and they are by far the best headset ive came across. The Afterglow headset is by the far the WORST headset made. I have a friend that has it and I absolutely hate hearing it. The microphone is so raspy and picks up every inch of sound in the house. Even the air conditioner blowing. ITS IS VERY LOUD!! This headset is not worth the money. Save yourself the money.
