Elegant Backup Camera solution

I've just installed a Pearl backup camera vision/sensing system. After a couple of days use, let me tell you it is both simple and impressive. If you can change your license plate frame, you can install this yourself. (I did try a camera system once before, and it needed an expensive install, had an inconvenient display and failed 'way too soon. No distance warning either, b/c only one camera.)
How well the Pearl works is impressive, with a simple app on my phone for the display, and easy and smart software that works. The double camera unit communicates with my phone's bluetooth/wifi, and a module attached to a diagnostic port of the car. All the tools to use it come with the package, so there's nothing else to find. This is such elegant technology to get a backup camera with real-time distance awareness and the 'eyes in the back of my car' I've been wanting.
The Pearl app was easily downloaded and installed. It immediately called in the latest updates and was ready to use in less than 5 minutes.
When I get into my car, a message comes in for Pearl, as it has sensed my phone. I can swipe it, unlock my iphone, and the app is up and ready to go faster than I can buckle up. I enabled the backup guide lines capability with just a simple measurement and that feature simplifies judging distance. Even before I set that up, the Pearl has tones that tell me when it senses an obstacle. The wide vision view shows me what is out to either side, and the view can pan to see more..
Once we are moving, the app lets me move on to other phone functions - or keep the camera working, though since I'm going forward I'm not using that, so I can follow imap or waze or listen to music, etc. I'm still learning though what I'm seeing is great. This lady is loving the new backup camera system!

I was surprised at how easy Pearl was to install. I was literally using it within 10 minutes. It provides a high quality camera resolution and many options for customization. I highly recommend this product. Wish it was a required addition to all trucks and cars. The more that are sold the safer the roads are for all pedestrians and drivers.

Good first try, but doesn't work well

Poor communication with phone. I had hoped to put it in reverse and have it show on my phone. You have to click a notification on your phone first in order for the image to show. Which also means you need to unlock and "open" your phone each time you get in your car. NOT seamless at all. For $500 this just simply won't work for anyone hoping to hop in and put it in reverse. It's unfortunate as the camera/plate is built well. And the idea is there. This should have had far more research done to make this work before bringing it to market.

This backup Camera was easier to install and produces a much better picture than advertised! I completely recommend this. The software works really well, and the solar cells keep the camera charged even though I park in a mostly shaded area. Plus, and this is a big plus, the camera and system are beautiful and seamless, and they only add to the astetics of your vehicle, with no loose wires, no installation headache, no annoying external screen, just a simple, beautiful, backup camera. I also love the sound warnings, and look forward to the other applications that will be added to this technology!
