I bought this game without playing any of the old persona games. I went into it blindly.
The game is amazing in every aspect, one that must be played. The uniqueness of it will have most gamers addicted from the very first minute. The game tackles many of today's problems in such a way that evokes catharsis.
This is a line that I saw in Metacritic, a website that aggregates reviews of media products, which exemplifies and clarifies what I am trying to say: "At its core, this is a spectacular work of contemporary young adult fiction, one with a strong moral core, angled yet never didactic, expansive yet always focused." -From a Metacritic reviewer.

Amazing story...compelling characters. Cooky JRPG elements...talking cats with superpowers...bad guys in a crown and pink underwear and hairy legs. This game has me fighting to squeeze more of it into my personal time. Very much enjoying it. Great anime sequences. There is a lot of reading...good story. And no screenshots allowed to avoid online spoilers. The photos are from weeks ago when I first got the game. :-) No spoilers!

If you love role playing games this is a wonderful game to play. You do not have to play the entire series to pick up this game and play. It is an amazing game. I love the premise that you collect personas from demons that you battle throughout the whole game. I am 36 hours into the game and totally hooked.

I purchased this online during Black Friday and was overly excited since it was on my child's wishlist. As a bonus, it was supposed to have came with a Sticker Decal for the PS4 controller. Once i received it however, the cover made no mention of the controller decal that was supposed to have came with the game. I opened the plastic wrap, took a look inside, and the decal sticker was no where to be found. Therefore, buyers beware. This product does not come with all the parts promised in the item's description.

I've tried to play many JRPGs like Final Fantasy multiple times over the years, but I always found those games boring and frustrating. So when the hype surrounding Persona 5 started prior to release, I didn't expect would I buy the game. One month later and it's one of my favorite games ever. I can't say enough on what makes Person 5 great, because there is so much to enjoy and so many facets to it's unique gameplay. I also don't want to spoil anything, so all I will say is Persona 5 is one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have ever had in my life. Unless you're a strict bro-shooter type of gamer, I highly suggest you give Person 5 a try. I'm glad I did.

As a fan of the PS2 era Persona titles, Atluss has come back to give fans exactly what they craved. Wonderful story and gameplay elements with an awesome soundtrack gives anyone familiar with the series the feels.

If you followed the Persona games Atlus just has been getting better and better and this game is just amazing from story to side plots, to the small humour that japanese manga and tv shows are known for. Persona 5 is long and grueling to grind through but it is one of the most rewarding in that aspect. For those who have never played think of it as a turn based rpg based on monster acquistions with a school/life sim, more to it of course but thats the base at least. I loved it, and as proved it won rpg of they year at the VGA! Thank you Atlus!

This was my first Persona game. I really like the fact that the main theme is to change/steal the hearts of the corrupt instead of just killing them. The premise and game play are a bit Matrix- and Inception-like, which I also really liked. The graphics and music are quite polished and stylish. But the combat model is pretty tired (Ni No Kuni-esque, I suppose), and progress is slow. It helps to have insight into Japanese culture as you navigate the dialogue options (or you might gain some along the way). There is not a lot of free time or exploration so you have to choose wisely on those rare occasions when you are not on rails. I would like to play through to the end to see how the story all fits together, but it seems like that may take more time than I am willing to dedicate. Already getting tired of Ryuji blurting out the first thing that pops into his thick head, and Ann is too precious/girly-girl.

This game is so amazingly well made. There is enough content to keep your busy for 100+ hours easy. The story and cast of characters keeps you engaged the whole time. The fighting is turn based, which I love. It reminds me of the good old RPGs from back when. This is a must buy if your a PS4 owner.

The latest entry in the Persona series is by far the best. The story is amazing. There's plenty to explore when it comes to main and side characters. Combat system is satisfying. Soundtrack is top notch--found myself humming to it even when I'm not playing the game!

I haven't finished the game yet but what I can say from the 30 hours that I have played is that this game is incredibly flashy/artsy with everything in the game between menus, battle, and it's animation. The soundtrack is definitely amazing as well, very catchy all the time and often times I found myself getting more hype for enemy encounters than other RPGs I played simply because of the soundtrack. The story is solid from what I played so far and it to summarize it simply it's about a teenager (your main character) who is a Phantom Thief, people who change the hearts by stealing the treasure within their dimension, which is like the mind of their alter ego. I would go into it more but it's simply better for you to play it instead for maximum enjoyment but be prepared for a 60 hour plus playthrough.

This game was no surprise to anyone who knows anything about the Persona Franchise. This is one of the best JRPGs to come out this year, and will go down in time as one of the best JRPGs available for the PS4. The game is absolutely gorgeous, and as usual fun to play. It is a pretty long game though, it took me 96 hours to beat it the first time around. This is the case of those games that one usually plays more than once, perhaps not back to back, but definitely one should come back for a second play through in new game plus. I loved my time with Persona 5, and a great many people will find lots of joy and depth in this game. This is a no brainer, anyone interested in JRPGs, or meaningful story telling with deep impact and character development should pay Persona 5 on the PS4.

All I can say is: if you like RPGs then buy it, full stop. Turn-based RPG combat with a great story and fun (though sometimes annoying) characters with plenty to do and seemingly not enough time to do it.

Persona 5 is the fifth mainline entry in the series. The plot behind the game is somewhat similar to the prior game, whereas instead of working with the Midnight Channel from Persona 4, you're now exploring palaces in Persona 5. With all that said, Persona 5 will give you a very long story. Expect over 100 hours of game play. Coupled with a flashy UI and catchy soundtrack, if you're a fan of the JRPG genre, you have no excuse to not play this title.

One of the Best Games Ever Made

This game is phenomenal. I get sucked into games every once in while but rarely for more than a week. Persona 5 is different. I put in over 135 hours into it in just over a month. I have a full time job and try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night so almost 100% of my free time during that month was dumped into this game (in case you are wondering, I'm single so it didn't ruin any relationships, but it could have). I just couldn't put it down! I think one weekend I played for 16 hours straight and didn't even realize it until I checked the clock at it was 6 AM.
The characters are very well written and fleshed out, with unique personalities that evolve as you get to know them better. It's amazing how entertaining doing mundane things like studying and taking a bath are in this game. These type of activities are how you boost your social stats, and you need social stats to build character relationships, and relationships are how you unlock battle perks and abilities. It's a wonderfully balanced system that encourages you to explore every aspect of the game.
The time progression is also interesting and refreshing in this game. The battles are turn-based, which is common with JRPGs but the out of battle time is also turn based. You have a "block" or two of time per day where you can do things. Should you study and boost your knowledge skill? Or hang out with one of your friends and see if you can raise your friendship with them? Or do you craft items for your dungeon crawling adventures? The choice is yours, but you can only do one thing per block (with a couple of exceptions). This is a great system because it creates tension and urgency without being stressful or panic driven. And as the days tick by the story marches on, whether you have prepared properly or not.
The art in this game is also very well done. It's polished, beautiful, and consistent. Even the menus feel like they are straight out of a high quality comic book. Music in this game is also great. Some of the songs are very catchy and there is enough variation and variety that even after over a hundred hours of playing I wasn't tired of the music.
Bottom line:
This game is amazing! If you have a PS4, BUY THIS GAME. This is one of the this generation's must-play titles.
Bonus Fun Fact:
Even though it was released April of 2017, when I popped it in to install it, no patches. Zero. This is so rare nowadays with multi-gigabyte day one patches and patches that are larger than the game install itself. I never encountered any bugs, either. Atlus made this game right the first time and deserve praise for that.
