This is horrible
The only thing good about it is the laser. When I go to view the camera from the app to check on my dog it goes live. I tried calling the company several times and they don't care to help. They told me it's cuz I have it set to public, I then screen shot it showing them I have it set so no one but me can see it . After I sent that they just kept telling me the same things over. Then they kept wanting me to send them screen shots but I sent them several . I added screen shots to this review so you can see what I mean when I say when it's public it's green and when it's Not public there is no light
I have it set to private but still goes public
I know when it's live because it says
Also gives message you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can view your camera from the app, it says cuz people are ahead of you in line ???
I have other cameras in my home that I view from app and none of them give me these problems etc.
So basically I find this camera very invasive and they should advertise it as a social media camera. I see other people's videos that have a lock on the pic ??? I think that means theirs are set to private too even though I can see lol
It is some kind of like Facebook for pets kind of thing
I'm afraid to use it cuz I know it goes public if you try to check on your pet from the app

What this product does well is have a way to interact with your pet via the laser pointer (fun!) not sure if other pets respond to the voice speaker, mine doesn't. Camera quality is ok as long as lights are on (HD model is better if your scene is not well lit).
Not good for people, it's a privacy issue waiting to happen. Not everyone will understand the social media style app, which allows you to enable it to be viewable by anyone in the world! Some people are well aware and create fun scenes that don't show off their home, but others don't seem to understand that they turned the feature on and have a live camera running in their living room 24/7 (CREEPTASTIC!!!)
Finally, they really try to sell you on their cloud service by automatically enrolling you in their cloud video recording. Trial is a month long, and basically records every time motion is detected. Motion notifications can be useful, However, it seems to be too easily triggered and you just get notifications of movements all day.
All-in-all, if you need a pet camera solution on the cheap, this product works. Just keep abreast on how you are using it, or else be watched by the world while you are eating a whole tub of ice cream on your couch.

I've been in the market for an IP camera to monitor my puppy, who we sometimes leave at home. She's getting to the age where we want to be able to trust her alone... (except we don't 100% trust her yet). After some research on quality and price, I settled for the Petcube.
The packaging is very simple and the design is sleek. Installation is quick and easy: plug the camera in, download the app, connect to wifi and voila!
Notable features:
- laser point which can be controlled via mobile app. My puppy actually enjoyed chasing it
- 2-way sound system which is very clear. You can not only catch your pet in the act, but stop him/her too!
- ability to download recorded videos/photos from Petcube to your mobile phone
I highly recommend this product for anyone in the market for this type of product. Well worth the price.

Overall, I think the idea behind Petcube is a great idea! My dog suffers from a Heart Condition, so I needed something to be able to monitor him while I am work. Both my mom and I purchased the PetCube for our homes. It worked great for her, since her dog is usually in one room,However, for me, my dog has a little bit of an open area and due to my house being dark even during the day, and the not being able to get the right angle, I need a camera with Night Vision. Plus my dog wasn't really into the laser as my moms dog. I opted to get a regular security camera that has the 2way communication that I love but has night vision. The PetCube does offer an upgraded version with night vision, the PetCube Play, but it was more expensive.

Although it occasionally disconnects from network(probably wifi issue not box) it is a great item. We have so much fun checking in our cats and dog. We use the audio feature to get their attention then use the laser beam to play with them. We use this probably 4 out of 5 days of the work week. Our only complaint is the laser beam, it really does not track as accurately as shown on your screen. We hope this gets improved on a future model. Even with this we highly recommend and this is only reason it does not get 5 stars.

Hi, thank you for your feedback, we're glad to hear that you and your cats and dog are enjoying your Petcube experience! You're correct and the connection significantly depends on your wi-fi so the better and faster the Internet connection is, the better is camera performance in general. Speaking of the laser, you can try to perform the laser calibration in Petcube app. If you have any questions, please let me know at [email protected] and I will be happy to assist you. Thanks! Cheers, Yulia, Petcube Team.

I have one, and love it, so I bought one as a gift. Easy to setup by following the app instructions, and it does exactly as described. The camera quality isn't the best, but I think they make an HD one now. Voice comes though fine, and you can hear what is going on from the camera's end as well.

Hi there, Thank you for your review, we really appreciate it! We are always looking for ways to make our products better and easier to use and we already have our second generation camera Petcube Play available in the US. Petcube Play has all the same features and, in addition, Full HD 1080p a close-up with 4x digital zoom and night vision feature that allows the camera to perform in low-light or no-light conditions. It is also smaller in size than a Petcube Camera.
Please contact us at [email protected] in case you have any questions, we will be happy to help.

Great that u can see and talk to your pets. The downside is whenever I turn it on to talk to them, they get scared and run out of the room. They think it's a ghost. Wud really like t have a swivel feature whereby the camera can move sideways and up and down or 360 for more coverage

Great camera to watch pets while away. The laser pointer doesn't interest my pup that much & is probably better for cats and the sound on the camera isn't great. But for simply checking in on your pets to see what they do during the day is a great feeling.

The Petcube has proved to be very easy to use. We have enjoyed being able to see and interact with our pet cat, when we are away and traveling. It was very easy to connect the Petcube to our internet. I enjoyed seeing our cat respond to my talking to her. We saw that she still went to bed in her favorite spot on our bed, even in our absence. We appreciate being connected to our cat, even when away. It is great to be able to connect in to other Petcubes as well. I like the various levels of security that are available with those connections, too.

Piece of Mind

So I have tried all the features of the Petcube, and they can definitely be entertaining. However, the thing I bought it for was to give me a video feed of my dog at home. For that it is amazing. The video stream is clear and rarely lags. It works in high light and low light, but definitely better when I have more light in the room. The power cable to the camera could be longer, but I like that it is USB and lower power consumption. Needed to be more patient during startup as boot time takes longer and I kept thinking something was wrong. Laser toy is neat as is the 2 way communication, but neither sold me on this product.

Good quality on the video, but minus stars because:
-1: For the price, wish that these Petcubes have a turn feature like other brands/prods. It's fixed view only!
-2: The laser pointer (red) doesn't cause any attention w my puppy!
Other than that, still figuring out if there're any avail features i.e. screen picture, save/share with Web OS... Will see if it will play when viewing from Europe!
Bought it on a sale, so okay to keep!

I can't emphasize The peace of mind this little camera gives me. I can check on my little dogs when away from home.
The picture clarity is just ok but I can see my room and the dogs. I can also speak to them and hear the room noise.
I take my dogs on vacation with me but I can still check on my home from out of state.
I would have given this 5 stars if not for the fact that the picture scrambles sometimes and I have to reset it.

This is loads of fun when it works properly. You need to be on a strong wifi signal for it to stream. Often times I get disconnected and I think that's the issue. This was a 'for piece of mind' kinda purchase. I call my cat and know him and my house are ok. Also great fun for him to chase the laser!!. Would buy again. Only negative is the pet care DVR feature is a additional fee. Kinda wish it was standard.

I bought this for my daughter so she could spy on her dog while she is away at class or the beach. Little did we know he howls when she leaves in the morning! She loves it and also finds comfort in knowing she is notified if motion is detected!

Use my Petcube daily to check on my 2 boxers while I'm at work. The only negative is talking, it can make loud echoing noises in the background. Also wish the camera was able to rotate without a tripod. I can't have it in reach of the dogs or it will be their new toy! So I am limited to where I can place the cube.
