I am generally one who researches product reviews but when I went to Best Buy to pick up the new Nest IQ Cam, I saw this Petcube Play & bought it on the spot as an impulse - what pet would not deserve such an innovative cat toy! I returned it the next day, because it appeared to have a problem. When the 2nd one had the same problem, I called the manufacturer, who offers 24/7 live help!! I was pleasantly surprised by the clear speaking, super helpful, intelligent technical support they offered. Here is what to watch for, if you buy it: Petcube moves the laser around and chases the cat, then stops and rests. The original rest time was an hour. Nowhere in the instructions do they mention a wait time. So it appeared to be defective. They pushed a firmware update for me that is now a standard update. It reduced the rest time to about 15 minutes. That is ideal. Our 3) rescued cats sit by the cube, waiting for it to come on. They have to move after 15 minutes of rest time to wake it up. They go crazy & pounce on the laser. Petcube sends a clear video to your free app each time there is movement. You can clearly see your cat's antics chasing the red laser "prey"! This is one of the best cat toys we have ever bought!! Voted #1 by our 3) cats by spending the most time chasing & waiting for it! Petcube earns my HIGHEST recommendation!!

Highly recommend! At first I wasn't sure whether my dog would chase after the laser, turns out he loves it! The app is very easy to navigate and installing the Petcube took no time at all. Love the camera's modern design and the fact that it has night vision. Would recommend to anyone who has ever wondered what your pet is up to while you are away from home!

When I first set up my PetCube play I loved the thought of being able to monitor my home with audio and video at any moment. However, the price is already steep but in addition to that if you wish to have video clips stored for later viewing one must choose either 7 or 30 days of cloud subscription storage which comes at a high price. I chose 30 days=$30. If using this device for home security i advise it becomes very tiresome sorting through clips on the app in order to find what you might be looking for. Even if you've found the clip, once downloaded to ones device it won't include any date/ time stamp whatsoever so make certain to add those in before you end up with a bunch of mixed up footage from different days/months. Compared to the other video monitoring devices I've tried however I will say it has features that others lack. But unfortunately after only two months of service my device nor my account will even provide me with live video. the camera won't unlink from my account, it won't reset, it hasn't stored any videos nor I can I use it to play with and monitor my pet. PetCube support has been incredibly unhelpful and despite my attempts to remove my card on file, I have continued to be charged for 4 months now with no services received at all. Utterly frustrated

Works great for security and watching our dogs when not at home

I help run a Cat Shelter in Ecuador and this is my review of the Petcube Play Camera. SET-UP Set-up was very easy, the instructions were simple to understand and easy to follow, we set up the camera using an Ipad that we have at the shelter and didn't run into any issues, we have the Petcube set up 2 rooms away from the router so the wifi range is pretty solid VIDEO / SOUND QUALITY The video quality is great given our current internet service, this petcube is being used and controlled by people all over the world and we get nothing but praise from them. We really have no complains once again due to our location and not so great internet , we sometimes get some lag or jitter but nothing out of the ordinary, we don't really use the sound but we have enable it before for testing purposes and it's easy to carry on a conversation between 2 parties using the camera microphone OTHER FEATURES The camera has many options for all kinds of users Our most heavily used feature is the laser, people and our cats love the laser feature, it has a surprisingly long range and hold pretty steady while being controlled through the app. Also since the release of the Petcube Play there's a new option to Livestream directly to Facebook which helps us tremendously in getting our video in as many social media platforms as possible, setting up the Livestream feed was very easy as well, nothing too complicated and I would say anyone that has installed any bluetooth or wifi enabled device in their home should be able to do it without any issues CONCLUSION We highly recommend Petcube, we've been able to use it consistently since it was released and we keep it on 24/7 and available to the public almost 16 hours per day. Petcube Play was really easy to set up. The night vision works really well, and the camera has a really wide lens which is perfect for being able to see the majority of a room. The laser function can be slow to respond, but the camera quality is great. The sound quality isn’t the best, and there is an intermittent echo. Overall, this is a good quality product that allows monitoring of your pets so you can go to work worry free. Very easy to set up, basically just a plug and play. The app interface is good, and you can set it to record movement and noise interactions. It will record interactions over the last 4 hours and store them for viewing even without paying for the subscription service.

I travel for work, and Zeke goes to grandma's when I am gone. Often I call to see how he is and grandma is giggling because Zeke has done something funny. It makes me miss him more! Not anymore.....now I can watch him be goofy and talk to him too! The app for the Petcube is easy to install on your phone and set up is easy! The picture is great...not distorted at all, and it is real time. I am so happy I purchased this. My only reason for a 4 star and not 5 is that Zeke is not impressed by the laser and I wish I had purchased the Petcube Bite instead....I would have loved to send him treats!

My 12 year old son has a lonely pet parakeet. The bird’s name is Oreo who resides in his the boy’s bedroom. When my son is gone at school or and away at camp thios summer, poor Oreo sits all alone. That is, until recently. Personally, I was a little apprehensive about getting a Petcube Play for a bird as it is marketed mainly for dog and cat owners. Well, my worries subsided as soon as I saw my son talking to and playing with his bird on his cel phone even though he was away from his room! Since then, we have really enjoy our Petcube Play pet camera. Here are some details for our experience so far… SET-UP Set-up was simple with the downloaded App. The app is well built and works great on my son’s iPhone. The app immediately recognized the nearby Petcube and walked us through connecting the camera to our wifi. Within just a few minutes we were up and going - interacting remotely with Oreo. VIDEO / SOUND QUALITY The video quality is nice with a great resolution (see photo). Sometimes the refresh rate is not the fastest but we also received frequent warning that there is a slow connection. It is probably because our home wifi internet speed is not the best. The video refresh rate actually increased once my son looked-in on his bird when he was out of the house using a cellular network on his phone rather than our home wifi. As to sound, it is great with very little lag. The two way communication is so incredible. It is pretty cool that Oreo can hear his owner and visa-versa. My son will whistle into his phone and nearly immediately Oreo hears, perks up and begins singing back to him. All remotely! Pretty cool stuff. OTHER FEATURES This little pet cam has many options. You can record photo or video from the live camera feed. These images and videos automatically save to the iPhone photo app. There is an option to sign up for a subscription to have days of recorded video stored in the cloud for you. There is also a cool laser light which one can move and control remotely from the app. For his bird, my son does not use this feature. Neither does he use the setting where you can have your phone alert you when the camera detects motion. Yet, I imagine many canine and feline owners would have a need for this and other automatic alerts that you can program the Petcube to trigger. CONCLUSION If you have use for a pet cam, definitely get this one! We have owned other wifi cameras and this one is the best that we’ve tried. The app is never buggy and works as it should. The video quality is nice with a decent refresh rate, and audio sounds fantastic with very little lag. Overall, we are very happy with our Petcube Play. Though really, the happiest to have the new wifi camera is Oreo! He now gets played with much more often and is much happier as proven by his more frequent singing heard throughout our home. This item is a lot of fun! It is easy to install and works awesome! First you download the Pet Cube app then you can name your pet and take a picture of it! Now you can see what is in front of your cube by going into the app. You can get notifications when there is movement in front of the camera. You can talk to your pet or anyone in the room. You can take a video and pictures. This is awesome for security in your home also. You can use a red dot light and move it around to play with your pet OR you can also play with other people's pets! How fun is this! It is great to be able to see other people's beautiful pets and play with them! I just enjoy watching them ! I purchased this for my nephews baby present so they can check on both babies! Their dog is a baby and he won't eat or play when they are gone! This way they can see him and talk to him when they are gone and he is with the grandparents! It is a great gift for someone! It provides hours of fun! It is a security camera and also a way to talk to someone at home when you are away! It is very good quality and pictures!

It was easy to setup the Petcube Pet Camera. I was connected to wifi and up and running with the camera and App with ease. I purchased a pet camera so I could check in on my dog while I was away from home. The motion detection on the camera is awesome, I love how the app notifies me when there is movement in my apartment. It really becomes addictive watching my dog via the Petcube pet camera. You can watch in real time or the recorded videos. With the 2 way audio you can talk to your dog. The camera also shows a very wide angle to show the whole room. I like that it records 10 seconds of video whenever there is movement, so you can go back and watch the videos when you have free time to see what your pet has been doing throughout the day. I also love that you can download photos and videos from the app.

I love my Cube, no doubt! The product works well, a nice quality image, & does allow two way communication & laser play. Be aware that if your WiFi isn't consistent, your images freeze often, the laser has a huge delay & there is a 1-2 second delay in voice/sound communication, both ways. Often, my fur-babies will seem to be sitting still, when in fact the image has frozen, then suddenly I'll see them walking in/out from the room. The Cube does truly offer a wide screen view, that is pretty impressive. The Cube app allows you to take pictures at any point, nice feature. There is a free 30 day trial to PetCube's recording feature with a somewhat pricy tag thereafter. A nice feature is it allows you to set auto laser play; at those times, the laser moves smoothly. I've had my Cube for 7 weeks. I have 5 dogs. The A/C cord is quite long, so it allows for flexible placement. It's a small gadget, so it doesn't take up much space. One very important note is you'll want to look up the setup directions outside of the instructions that come in the package as they miss a key step. I'm pretty tech-savvy, but this one missing step in the written instructions drove me insane... very frustrating. Overall I enjoy having the Cube, I just wish my WiFi was more consistent. I've been told my WiFi is the culprit to all the delays and freezing.

The Petcube is a great camera to keep an eye on your pet when you're away. The camera itself works really well with both the recordings and the live feed. The sound and motion detection also pick up everything with real time notifications so it has been really helpful to see what my crazy pup has been up to. If you're looking for an easy to use pet cam I would definitely recommend this one!

The video quality is great and the laser pointer is awesome and entertaining for our dogs.

I bought this so that I could keep an eye on my pets while working long hours. It was incredibly easy to setup and the video quality is top notch. I hope to get a hang of using the laser because there is a definite learning curve. Love being able to talk to my pets at work.

I like the camera but because my dog doesnt play with the laser, I only use it for watching him when we are not at home.. The quality is pretty good but its an expensive product if you can't actually use the "play" function. If your pet does play with the laser, it might be worth it though! the automatic recording is nice

The petcube play is so easy to use. I love watching my dog when I am away at work all day. It is also great to keep her occupied by using the play feature. She is a big dog and it is great to keep her playing while I am gone! The app is also very user-friendly.

I would recommend this product. I can speak with my fur baby, see him and use the red laser to paly with him. It's great. I have it set up to receive notifications to my cell phone when there is any movement and noise. Works like an alarm. The directions that come with the product are vague. However there is a website listed on the directions, use that to set up your petcube. It will take a few moments the first time you set it up. Be patient, it will work if you followed all of the websites directions. I unplug my cube and use it off & off when no one will be home. And I have no problem logging back into it with my phone.

Fun and functional! Love that I can check in with my dogs throughout the day and remind them to “get off the couch”. The cube is small and is barely noticeable on the bookshelf. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 Stars is that there is an echo when you speak through the app. Clear picture.

The Petcube camera has wide field of vision, clear video and the night vision capability is quite good. In addition the Petcube social media app is a nice addition. We can share our video feed with friends and family while still maintaining privacy from unknown viewers. And we can share pictures of our puppy to the larger Petcube community whenever we want. You could buy a generic cloud based camera but if this is for your dog or cat, why would you? It's small, and sitting on our bookshelf it doesn't even look like a camera. Highly recommended.
