||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I love it. We were surprised by the smaller drink sizes at first, but we got used to them. Actually, my beloved Latte Macchiato comes out in the perfect size (with all settings set to the highest levels) - see the picture attached.

Scratched above average
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good but scratched out of the box. Seams Philips doesn’t have much quality control or Best Buy was selling these cheaper for a reason. Not so happy with coffee either at most it’s above average

Good coffee with convenience and ease
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Verdict. The Phillips 3200 Automatic Espresso Machine is a good machine to easily make coffee drinks, including milk-based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos. This machine produces acceptable espresso; you will not get complex flavors or sweetness, but it is fine to drink alone. It has strong features, such as ease-of-use and cleaning, but it also has some flaws such as grinder adjustments and volume customization limitations. On balance, I think this machine will make most people happy because it is easy to use and creates good drinks, depending on the drink and the milk/coffee ratios you are using for milk drinks. It is certainly better than any pod machine out there. If you are an experienced espresso brewer, you should manage your expectations; this machine will brew drinkable espressos, but of course, it will not rival high-quality manual machines. Experience. I own many coffee machines, including two fully manual espresso machines, a semi-automatic espresso machine, and several fully-automatic machines. Coffee is a household passion; we spend a lot of time brewing, drinking, and experimenting with different coffee beans and brewing methods. My expectations for coffee machines are probably higher and stricter than that of most people. Fresh coffee. The most important variable in brewing coffee is the quality and freshness of your coffee. You will not be able to get a good cup if you are using cheap or stale coffee. I always recommend buying quality fresh beans from a local roaster (the package should have a “roasted on” date within 10 days of your purchase; not a “use before” date). I also recommend buying medium roast because they are not oily and have distinct flavors you can notice. You should avoid dark roast because they will create more residue in your grinder. You should also avoid light roast beans because they are likely to be too hard for the grinder in this machine. Initial impressions. The machine is not too heavy. It has a great form factor and the size is perfect to fit on a kitchen counter. It comes with a milk jug, a water filter, a coffee scooper, some oil for gear maintenance, and manuals. The water reservoir is made of a softer plastic that should make it more resistant to cracks if dinged or dropped. Setup. Like all espresso machines, some setup is required before making drinks. Setting up the machine is important so I recommend reading and following the step-by-step instructions from the manual. In short, you’ll have to soak the water filter before installing it, and flush the water through the machine. Then, add beans to the hopper add milk into the milk jug, and press a button for the drink you want to make. Once the machine is set up, normal startup is VERY quick. You can start making coffee within just a minute of pressing the power button. Grinder. Adjusting the grinder to get smooth and slow espresso flow is hard, and it’s probably the greatest flaw of this machine. The manual says that the grinder should only be adjusted when it is running. This is problematic because it means that the coffee grounds you get for that specific shot will be different sizes, which leads to the puck developing water channels, preventing a full and proper extraction of the coffee. Beyond that, the grinder does not have enough range on the “fine” end of the spectrum. I am grinding at a “2” right now, but I would like to slow the flow a little more; for some reason I can’t move it to “1”, and even if I could, I would be out of range to go finner at that point. I will experiment with a different medium roast that is more forgiving, with slow flow at higher grinder settings. Another flaw in the grinder is that the plastic piece that covers the burrs has a big hole to access the screw. It should have some sort of cover to prevent beans from falling in there. On the positive side, the cover is tinted and has a seal to keep the beans fresh. Design. Some design aspects are interesting. The milk jug is made up of several parts that fit together, and doesn’t look like any other jug I have seen before. The mechanism will certainly froth milk, and produce enough volume for a cappuccino, but don’t expect wonderful micro-foam. This is not really an issue for me because it produces enough foam, adjustable for lattes or cappuccino, to keep things fun, and the milk temperature is good. The best part of the milk jug design is that you can separate the pieces to clean everything perfectly. That is a significant advantage because the milk frother setup is typically the hardest part to clean on other fully-automatic machines. The machine also conducts automatic rinses of the brewing spout, and in general the machine was designed for minimal maintenance: rinse the tray daily, rinse the brew group weekly, change the water filter every few months, and descale every few months, depending on water hardness levels. Machine operation. The button layout is fantastic! Buttons are easy to read and easy to press. Operating the machine is intuitive, with LEDs confirming every button press for drink choices and for “1x” or “2x” functions. Every drink is right there on the face of the machine, and it’s easy to choose the volume levels for espresso, milk, and foam. Once you’ve made your choices, press “play” and it will brew your drink… very nicely done! Emplacing the milk jug was confusing at first, but once you figure out the angle, it’s easy. The actual operation of milk frothing is interesting and unusual, and it looks like it will make a mess, but it works fine. Customizing the buttons for each drink is also easy to do, but it has some minimum volume limitations. To customize, just hold a button for three seconds, then brew the milk level and press stop at the desired level, and then brew the espresso and press stop at the desired level. Please note that there is a minimum volume required before the button lets you stop the brew and store the new setting. Espresso. When brewing espresso on this machine, you will have the option to select “1x” or “2x”. The “2x” setting will brew two different shots in a row, without having to do anything. That is a very nice feature. You can also select the strength of the espresso (the dose), between “low”, “medium”, or “high”, and you can select how much espresso you get (the yield). The low setting for the strength uses about 8g of beans, while the high setting uses about 12g, I would say. The low yield produces about 30g of espresso, and the high yield produces about 42g of espresso (really a lungo at this ratio). To get close to a proper espresso, select the high strength and low yield so you get close to a 1:2 ratio. While the machine consistently produces great crema, the shots were simple, without much complexity or sweetness, but also without too much acidity. While very acceptable to drink, and still infinitely better than pod-machine espresso, if I could slow down the flow just a little more, I think I could get into the “good” espresso spectrum. While this machine can brew drinkable espresso, its strength will be in milk-based drinks because the milk hides minor flaws in the espresso. It also brews good ice coffee and americanos. Things I love: - It’s easy to quickly customize drinks from the front panel (espresso dose & yield, milk level, and foam); customization options are excellent. That is one of the greatest strengths of this machine. Well done! - It grinds whole beans and it can take ground coffee - The 2x function is very nice! The machine will brew two times in a row, without having to press any buttons, so that you have the amount of coffee you want - The milk jug design makes it very easy to keep clean - The bean hopper cover is tinted and it has a seal to keep the beans fresh - It’s easy to remove most of the beans in the hopper if you want to switch out beans - Easy box removal with the plastic handles… thank you! - Easy maintenance: daily rinse, weekly rinse, and then other tasks every few months - Wonderful size for a counter, and it looks pretty sleek. I would have preferred it in silver or stainless steel though Things I don’t love: - Factory espresso and milk ratios are ok, and without experience in brewing espresso and milk-based drinks, there is some experimentation required before you get good drinks. On the other hand, the great feature of this machine is that you can program espresso and milk volumes to get good drinks - It bothers me that the milk jug does not seal. The leftover milk in the jug will be exposed to air and smells in the refrigerator - Espresso quality could be better, but quality is acceptable, especially for a full-automatic machine - I wish that this machine would let me use the milk foam option independently of making coffee drinks. Our kids like hot chocolate with steamed milk. We are able to do this on a few other machines, but not with this one - Right now, it looks like I don’t have enough range on the “fine” side of grinder adjustments to slow down flow. I will try a different bean to see if I can reduce flow rate - Not a big deal once you are used to the machine, but the milk jug has several parts that fit together. The water and coffee grounds tray also has a few different parts. Once you figure out how the parts fit together and their purposes, it’s fine. Overall, this is a capable machine that can make decent espresso and good milk-based drinks. We are happy with this machine, and we love the convenience and customization options on the front panel. The milk jug is easy to keep clean, which is usually not the case with fully-automatic machines. The machine is not cheap, but I think the value is there if it saves you from buying a daily drink at your local coffee shop. And if you are considering a pod machine, your money is better spent on this machine because it brews better coffee, and it gives you the flexibility to buy great coffee beans from anywhere. I recommend it!

A user-friendly at-home coffee experience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips 3200 Fully Automatic Espresso machine offers a great balance between ease of use, customizability, and ease of cleaning. The user-friendliness of this espresso maker was a highlight. The machine was simple to setup and the parts are easy to remove and clean. I really appreciated the ability to customize espresso strength and the coffee-to-milk ratio that let me fine-tune my coffee to my taste. The LatteGo system is a nice feature and the removable milk container easily pops on and off for storage in the fridge when not in use. Being able to easily make almond milk iced coffee was a highlight of this machine for me. The automatic cleaning cycle that helps clear out any residual substances before and after use is welcomed, as it’s one less maintenance step I have to remember. The flexibility of being able to use ground or whole beans was also a great feature. Whole beans (even fairly oily ones) did not get stuck in the hopper after many uses, unlike some other automatic espresso machines I have used in the past. While there were many positives, some aspects of the machine had minor opportunities for improvement. The espresso the machine produced had a good flavor and a decent amount of crema, but even at the finest-ground and highest coffee-strength settings, I felt like it was close but could not quite reach the European-strength taste level that some coffee connoisseurs may be looking for. The water tank is on the smaller side. After a few cups of coffee and the automatic cleaning cycles, the tank will need a refill. Overall, while it may not produce the strongest espresso or the thickest crema, it's a great choice for anyone looking for an at-home coffee experience with little hassle.

Great coffee with little effort
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Philips appliances. They make well engineered products that just work. Their user interfaces are always on point and the build quality of their products has always been very good. This 3200 series fully automatic coffee machine is no exception. Is it the least expensive coffee maker on the block? No. But I'm a firm believer in the old adage, you get what you pay for. For those of us who love coffee, we want a machine that can keep up with our tastes. From Cappuccino to Espresso, to Latte to iced coffee and yes, even your first black wake up cup in the morning. This machine has it all and does it all, well. Lets start with the build quality. Top notch and well engineered. It's extremely difficult to engineer a product that does what it should and also does it in the simplest way possible. This machine could really not be any easier to operate. Turn it on, select your coffee style and size, and press start. The beans are fresh ground for your cup every time so there's no extra step for you to grind your own beans and no added cleanup. You can even adjust the grind from fine to course. The mid setting is what I've left it at (which is the default), but you can go in either direction from there. So starting from the top, the beans are held in a hopper that feeds them into the grinder. The beans are gravity fed into the grinder. If you want to use your own ground coffee instead, Philips has you covered with a separate little door that allows you to put a measured amount of ground coffee right into the machine. They even give you the measuring spoon to use. This way, you can still have beans in the hopper but if you want a change of pace, you can use ground coffee as well. There's a little bit of setup involved, as you might expect, but the process was not complicated. You need to open the side door to remove some tape that's used to secure things in place, activate the water filter, and rinse out the water reservoir and LatteGo. After that it's just a matter of getting used to the machine. A machine like this that does everything for you does require some diligent maintenance. For example, the drip tray will need to be regularly emptied. This is something that most people aren't used to doing very often, but on this machine you will need to do it every other day or so (at least that's what my wife and I needed to do after having two cups each per day). It's an easy process, pull the drip try forward and tilt it into the sink to empty. When you do this, you'll also notice a plastic box sitting in the drip tray assembly. This is where the used coffee grounds end up (you didn't think they just disappear, right?). The box just lifts right out so it's incredibly easy to do these two things together. Aside from these steps, Philips recommends pulling the “brew group” and rinsing it about once per week. This is the main assembly behind the water tank that performs all the internal hoop jumping to make your coffee. This may all seem like a lot of work to some people, but consider the baristas at your favorite coffee house and all the cleaning they go through. This is really not a big deal and Philips has gone to a lot of trouble to keep this process as painless as possible. So, yeah yeah, but how does the coffee taste? Well, it's pretty amazing. I recommend using good quality beans to get the best coffee experience, but really, I don't think you can go wrong using beans you know and love. The hopper lid has a rubber seal around it to help keep the beans as fresh as possible. The only complaint I have about this machine is that when brewing a standard cup of coffee, I was somewhat surprised when my cup was only filled halfway. I love my cappuccino, but I also want to be able to have a full cup of the black. If you look through the instructions you'll find a section that tells you how to increase the amount of coffee that gets brewed on the highest setting. So there is a work around for this. Or, you can brew for two people and just use one cup. Either way, the coffee tastes great. This is probably tied closely to the amount of coffee that's ground. If you increase the volume of coffee that's delivered, you run the risk of weaker tasting coffee. The grounds strainer is only big enough to brew a “standard” size cup of coffee, so increasing the volume will still use the same standard amount of grounds. If you're like me and love Cappuccino, you'll be happy to know that it's easier than you might think to have one anytime you want. The LatteGo is by far the easiest way I've ever used to steam your milk for your Cappuccino (or Latte). The LatteGo itself is basically just the reservoir you put the milk in. The cool part is that it's so easy to use it's ridiculous. The milk is steamed and drips into your cup through the tube extension on the LatteGo. There's no mess, it's easy to put on, and it works great. It's also dishwasher safe. There's no intricate parts to clean, just the base, the clear cup and the lid. They all assemble and disassemble easily. Another nice feature is the the dispenser spout (for lack of a better term). The part that actually delivers the coffee is vertically adjustable to accommodate different height mugs and glasses. Just lift it up to raise it and push it down to lower it. When brewing coffee, it will come out in two streams from this dispenser. If you want to, you can brew two cups at once by selecting this option and putting a cup under each stream. I really like this machine. It has a ton of features. Anyone who has used a machine like this to brew a variety of coffee types will appreciate the easy day to day cleaning and maintenance. It makes fantastic coffee with minimal effort. Really nicely done Philips!

You Too Can Brew
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The husband and I are still "perfecting" our barrista skills. Yet this Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo coffee maker, is helping to teach us how to better brew that 'perfect cup.' First things first. Unboxing was a cumbersome process, although the upside of this is that the coffee maker was packaged with lots of cardboard padding to protect it during shipment. Downside is that the coffee machine arrived with an orange sticker firmly affixed on top of the bean hopper lid, which took me 10 minutes (no exaggeration) to scrape off with my fingernail, carefully, so as to not scratch the plastic lid. In my opinion, I shouldn't have had to do this. Especially since the "helpful" info on the sticker can also be found in the User Manual. Thankfully, for both the most 'seasoned' home barrista, as well as, the more 'novice' of us, the aforementioned User Manual is quite detailed, helping to take the guess work out of the brewing experience. There's still a lot of reading though, but I will say that it pays to take the time to read through it all and experiment. Getting the coffee maker all set up was fairly simple. Honestly, the machine does most of the work. There's a handy Cleaning and Maintenance chart in the User Manual which tells you when to do what, so cleaning is pretty easy. An important feature, to me, is having the water reservoir on the side, instead of along the back part of the machine (like my previous coffee maker; which was a hassle). This makes for a simple process of keeping track of the water level, and being able to easily refill the reservoir. But putting in the water filter may be more challenging for people with bigger hands, as the reservoir is rather narrow. Tips: - make sure to not place the coffee maker fully underneath a cupboard, as the steam will waft up and potentially warp or damage your wooden cabinets. - make sure to properly position your cup beneath the adjustable coffee spout/LatteGo milk container/hot water spout as necessary. Otherwise, things can get messy. I really love having so many options, and that you can adjust the coffee temperature and strength of your chosen brew. Also, that the machine has a grinder built right in. Nothing beats the 'smell' of freshly ground coffee! So, how was my first latte? Delicious! And I'm a relative novice at this. I will confess, that I spent a great deal of time, with lots of 'trial and error,' to create that lovely cuppa. But it was totally worth it! Now, what I don't like, and can forsee issues arriving from this (mainly wet coffee grounds getting gunked up down inside the machine and possible mold accumulating), is that the small lid covering the pre-ground coffee compartment and the "shoot" where the coffee grounds go, gets very moist; damp with steam water. This is not good. So, I'll likely not be using that at all. I'll stick to whole coffee beans as the bean hopper seems to stay nice and dry. Another 'concern' I have is, that the metal drip tray cover may rust after a while. But we'll see. Final thoughts - when compared to similar types of coffee makers I've owned, the difference in build quality (and price point), is quite evident. But, that being said, this Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo, does perform as intended. It is so much easier to use than those other 'specialty' coffee machines I'm familiar with. The husband and I are really enjoying experimenting and sampling the brews we've crafted so far.

Literally Push Button, Get Coffee!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me preference that I’m a big coffee drinker, but I don’t consider myself a coffee snob. I prefer my locally roasted beans prepared by my neighborhood barista over the gas station carafe, but when I make my first cup of the morning – it just needs to be, well, hot and taste like coffee. With that out of the way, I’d like to start by saying this is a well-made machine that makes your coffee drinks literally at the push of a button. If you’re on the market for such a machine, I highly recommend looking at the Philips 3200! There’s five different coffees that this dispenses: espresso, coffee, iced coffee, cappuccino, and latte macchiato. The espresso, coffee, and iced coffee options allow you to do an x2 preparation, which is just automatically running the grind/brew cycle twice. It’s as simple as placing your cup below the spout, adding milk to the LatteGo system if making a cappuccino or latte, and selecting what you want and hitting go! Beans are stored in a hopper at the top of the machine, complete with a gasketed cover that’s also darkly colored to prevent light from affecting your bean quality. No matter the style of coffee preparation, it will always grind beans freshly at first. You can adjust the grind from fine to course, but it’s recommended to leave it for your first several brews – and crucially only adjusting while the grind is occurring. There is a chute where you can also use pre-ground coffee, one measured scoop in the provided scoop per machine run. Using the machine is quite simple to use but setting it up initially is less so. There are not too many parts, but the manual is a little dry and I found it not super helpful in setting up. What to do is there, but it feels very vaguely written at times with ineffective pictograms. It does direct you to the Philips website for more information, but I found that website to also be a bit poorly designed to find the information you’re after. PROTIP: The Philips YouTube page has wonderful (and chaptered) videos guiding you through all of the initial setup, usage, and maintenance procedures. I’d encourage you to find those videos as they made sense of everything for me. Speaking of maintenance procedures, there’s a few steps involved with machine that you need to be aware you’re signing up for. How often you do such things depends on how many coffees you make and your water hardness. Emptying the drip tray and dumping the spent grounds will happen most often. Both of those are as simple as pulling the drip try and emptying it by tipping it in your sink – there’s even a handy little spout at the back to assist. The machine flushes briefly with water when turning on and off, so you’ll use more water than you realize. The grounds are spit out as loose pucks into a small bin – that’s easily just dumped into your trash or compost. The brew group – the mechanical brains of the coffee making – needs to be rinsed out once a week. It was designed to easily be removed. There’s a door behind the water tank that opens up and the brew group slides right out. Every few months you will need to grease certain parts of the brew group (find those videos!) with grease that comes with the machine. The water filter will need to be replaced depending on your water hardness every few months. Unless you have excessively hard water or fail to replace the filter you may have to descale, but this should be a very rare occurrence. If you’re brewing a cappuccino or latte the only extra steps involve filling the LatteGo system with cold milk to the appropriate fill line before starting your brew. It works remarkably well. I don’t know what magic makes it work without an actual steam arm, but it does. It is, however, worth noting that both coffee styles do dispense the steamed milk before dispensing the coffee. The steamed milk was great, but if you are looking for adding a nice milk froth like you may get at a coffee shop, you’re not going to get that from this. In all honesty, that’s a bit more for style than for substance. The LatteGo does need to be cleaned after each use, but it’s two pieces that easily come apart to be rinsed, and crucially stay cool to the touch. If you’re coming to this machine from other methods of coffee making, you may be surprised at the volume of coffee you receive. They’re going to be smaller than you expect as they’re all based on an espresso pull. While you do have options for brew strength, coffee volume, and milk volume, you’re going to have to experiment with what you’re after. An espresso cup fills perfectly, but if you’re looking at a standard 8–10-ounce coffee mug, like you’d typically see with drip coffee, you may need to run the machine more than once. Size wise, it is bigger than your average coffee making machine, be it a Nespresso, Keurig, or drip machine, but Philips designed this to fit on your counter pretty well. It’s narrow, but a little long and a little tall. This is not a machine that gets hidden in the corner. That being said, it’s a very elegant machine in all black with chrome-colored accents. It looks every bit the fancy coffee machine it is. The other thing to note is that this machine does take several runs before it gets going. It’s a small footnote in the instructions but worth noting – until about a dozen or so brews it’s not going to hit its stride. I don’t know the mechanics of why, but it’s true. Coffee on day one wasn’t as good as day four. My biggest downside of this is that it doesn’t do slightly more. You cannot add more steamed milk to drinks nor can you make steamed milk on its own – it has to be done as part of making a cappuccino or latte macchiato. You can adjust the volumes, but it’s not exact. You can’t, say, pull a lungo or ristretto espresso shot. There are two models of this machine that are more expensive and offer options such as these. The machines aren’t inherently any different from one other apart from very few additional brewing options. There’s really no reason this machine at this price point can’t include them. That brings me to my final thoughts. This is an expensive coffee machine for the average consumer. Is it the most expensive? No, not by a long shot. The world of home coffee machines spans a very large and vast number of options, quality, and prices. Does this machine make better coffee than machines under $100? One hundred percent. I’d take the coffee drinks from this machine over nearly any drip coffee maker and certainly over any machine that makes coffee with pods. Keep in mind that getting good coffee starts with obtaining good beans. Does it make better coffee than the professional espresso machine at your coffee shop? No, but that’s not in the realm of affordable for your home. What it does do is make great coffee and makes it both extremely easy to make and to clean up in your home. If you have the budget for it and can appreciate the simplicity of getting a good cup, this really does get you great brews at literally the push of a button.

This was amazing making coffee!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Philips 3200 Series Espresso Machine was extremely fun to use while trying different drinks. I certainly enjoyed the “My Coffee Choice menu” as it was easy to use and readable to the eyes. Most of the menu choices here will be great for the perfect espresso that you desire. Taking out the box was extremely easy and I wish more manufacturers did it this way. I didn’t need help taking it out of the box and setting it up. One lift and it was an easy way out. It does certainly look nice and very modern for an espresso maker machine. Probably fits any kitchen with style. The buttons are large to see and which is easy to press. Setting it up was easy in the basic settings were great. Making hot coffee was extremely fast from what I’m used to me and a partner tried out the ice coffee setting, which was perfect for making large drinks. It can set the strength of the coffee, the amount of coffee, and the amount of milk that makes foam. This makes a fantastic foam which is ultimately the star of the show! You add your choice of milk to the “LatteGo” cup where air and steam are mixed. And from there you can have perfect foam every time you make coffee. It’s definitely refreshing and super delicious to come up with your own with this machine. From making Black coffee, espresso, Americano, cappuccino, or just basic hot water. The control panel makes all of this easy which is something the product needs to be. They also have something in here called the aroma extract system, which gives a perfect balance between brewing and temperature as well as the aroma. I’m not really sure what it does, but it definitely smells good each and every time it’s in use. Everything smells fresh and tastes so delicious that I can’t even believe I’m making this. The grinder adjustment is 12 and everything on this device seems to be automatic. Overall it does the job intelligently. Once everything is set up I truly enjoyed having this, and it was a convenience for someone like myself who isn’t used to espresso makers of this caliber. Clean-up wasn’t that bad as it was very easy to clean so not really complaining there. I used it for about a week and was getting better and better at making espresso so that bring a smile to my face. I do recommend this to anyone who is looking for an espresso maker because this one was extremely pleasing to work with. I definitely don’t need to go to the local coffee shop anytime soon friends and family did enjoy, trying their own and making their own coffee. love it so far.

Your dream of a private cafe at home has come true
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo is the perfect superautomatic espresso machine for coffee lovers who want a delicious cup of espresso or milk-based drinks like cappuccinos and latte macchiatos. This model comes equipped with LatteGo, which allows you to make frothy milk perfect for enjoying milk-based drinks with a unique milk foam element. One of the strengths of this device is its ease of use. It is user-friendly and has an intuitive interface that allows you to customize your coffee. You can adjust the strength, temperature, and quantity of your drinks and the machine will remember what you want to use in the future. For example, you can adjust the machine to brew a strong cup of coffee in the morning and a weaker cup in the afternoon. Plus, the machine has a one-touch button for making a cappuccino or latte macchiato, making it easy and convenient to make your favorite milk-based beverage. The Philips 3200 can brew some high-quality espresso. The machine uses ceramic grinders to ensure consistent grinding, which is necessary to produce great-tasting espresso. The machine also has a pre-brewing function that liquefies the coffee beans before brewing, resulting in an even and excellent-tasting espresso extraction. This method of pre-brewing coffee also is beneficial for maintaining the flavor of the coffee, as it helps prevent the coffee from becoming too bitter. In addition, the filters have filters that help remove impurities from the water, making espresso taste better and reducing or eliminating the need to descale the machine. When it comes to maintenance, the initial setup can be a bit overwhelming, and you'll want to knock out a few cups at first to give it some fine-tuning. The machine needs periodic cleaning and specific lubrication, which can be a bit intimidating the first time, especially when you want to get it right. Once you complete the basic setup, the machine is easy to maintain and clean. With care and proper maintenance, the Philips 3200 will produce a good cup of coffee for a long time. Overall, the Philips 3200 with LatteGo is ideal for coffee lovers who want to enjoy premium espresso and milk-based beverages at home and skip the daily trip to a local coffee chain before work each morning. If you’re looking for a high-performance espresso machine that can brew great-tasting coffee, the Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo is worth considering.

Fine espresso maker with some limitations
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’re looking for an easy to use general purpose fully automated espresso maker that will offer a selection of both black and milk based coffee drinks, this coffee maker may fit your bill. It offers 5 coffee drinks, two of them milk based, with some level of customization. You basically get the espresso, coffee (black), ice coffee (black), cappuccino and Latte Machiatto (both milk based). All drinks offer three levels of customization. For the milk based drinks you can select low, medium or high amounts of water and beans used, for the milk based drinks you can also select the low, medium and high amount of milk. But you cannot select your own custom amounts, you can only select one of the three predetermined amounts as set by the manufacturer. The milk froth system, which they call Lattego is easy to use and easy to clean. It is an enclosed system consisting of three parts, meaning the container where the milk goes, the frame that holds the milk container and attaches to the machine and the top cover. There is no separate milk pipe, the milk path is built in in the milk container. The machine does not clean the milk system, only the coffee path gets cleaned. After each use if you have some milk left in the milk container you can put it into the fridge for future use, but I recommend that you manually clean the milk spout first. The frothed milk comes out relatively warm, not hot and not cold. The milk container is relatively small, meaning you cannot use it for three milk based drinks without refilling it. There are markings on the container indicating to what level fill the container with milk for a specific milk based drink, but those markings are hard to read, they are not very visible. The milk frother works fine, but keep in mind that there is no manual froth adjustment, you always get the same frothed milk out of it. The grinder has an insulated transparent cover, which helps keeping the beans fresh and see how many beans are in the container. Grinder has 12 adjustment levels. Adjusting them is easy and no beans gets stuck away from the grinder. The grinder is not too loud, relative to other similar machines. The brewing unit can be taken out for cleaning, but you might need brief instructions how to put it back in, because all the parts must be set in certain specific way, otherwise the unit will not go in. It is easy once you get the idea of what is expected, but if you forget, you might need to go to the manufactures website for a short instructions video. My other espresso maker from a different manufacturer would always fit in regardless of its state, here it needs to be in this one specific state in order to fit in. My machine did have a relatively long period of self adjustment before it started generating decent coffee products. The manufacturer suggest that you should make about 8 to 12 coffee drinks on a new machine before it operates as it should, but in my experience I had to make about 60 drinks before I got to decent coffees. Initially the coffee was watery, the crema was poor, I was getting water into the coffee waste container, the very first coffee after starting the machine would get several drops of water into the cup before producing actual coffee. It all somehow magically went away after about 60 coffee drinks. I tried to work with the product support via email, the responses were very generic, giving me more “tips” but not really addressing the problem. When I asked for escalation I was told to give them a call, but by that time I reached my 60 coffees and the problems somehow went away. Overall, if you’re are looking for an easy to use espresso maker that offers the basic milk based drinks, is easy to use and you’re ready to get through the initial self-adjustment period and you’re okay with having only manufacturer predetermined amounts of coffee beans per drink, amount of water and milk, then the 3200 unit should work for you. If you’re willing to pay a little bit more, then possibly their higher level model, the 4300 and 5400 offer more drinks and more flexibility for not much more money.

Philips 3200 Awesome Machine and Easy to Clean
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, are not coffee experts, and I get it for those that are. We are just a normal couple who does love our coffee. We both occasionally enjoy a Cappuccino or Late’ or I do love an ice coffee in the afternoon. That said, we are not the hard-core type that will drive a couple miles to a Starbucks for any of those. We normally will indulge if we happen to be in a Target or other store that has one. I would have never thought that I would spend this money on a coffee maker but, if you compare machines and machine cost and features, the Philips 3200 stands out. Its features are great but the ease of cleaning this thing makes it a viable option for those like us who are not truly coffee committed. Out of the box this is not too bad, but you do need to pay attention and follow the directions. You get a high-quality water filter included (it will need to be replaced at some point) that will reduce the need to descale often. You will have to balance the desire for this with the need to descale. Personally, even though I use filtered water, I do think that the cleaner the water, the better. I am on my first filter so that may change as we use this over the next 6+months. Setup was not too bad, you soak the filter, put It in after rinsing the water reservoir. Follow the directions on the steps, but once the filter light turns blue, you are good to go. You then do the hard water testing. Since I use a water filter/pitcher, I used that water to stick the test strip under. It did not indicate any hard water so when you follow the directions on setting the water hardness, I just chose the least one. Per the instructions, I left the grind control to its factory setting. They say to do this for the first few weeks to see how you like the grind and then adjust to a finer or thicker setting. I agree with the logic. Now, you’re ready to make some coffee! Once you turn the unit on, it cycles through all the coffee options: Expresso, Coffee, Iced Coffee, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and hot water. Keep in mind that the first time you do this for the day, it takes about a minute to get ready, I find as I use it after that first time in the mornings, it’s a bit faster. Now, let’s talk about the coffee options. For Expresso, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato it’s straight forward. You select them, select your strength and amount. I will tell you that using the Latte Go milk system is amazing. Super simple, you just add your milk (we used Oat Milk) to the container (ensure you have it locked in or it will leak), attach it to the machine and it automatically pulls and steams/froths the milk out into your cup. Make sure that your cup is positioned to get the two coffee drips as well as the milk, the milk is a little far on the outside, so you just have to make sure its properly positioned before you hit Go. Steaming the milk was great, I didn’t have any issues with it on the Cappuccino or Latte Macchiato. I know some people are funny about it, to us, it was just fine. I am going to try non oat milk which I bet I will like more than my wife’s oat milk. Now, for coffee, I am used to my 12oz self-fill pod for my Keurig. I did struggle with this as it is never indicated how much coffee in oz. anywhere that I could find. To get the cup I want, I must set the coffee to 2 cups and qty set to 2 lights and then it grinds and brews cup one followed by cup2. This is the best way for me to get the size I like. I guess that is actually a good feature because this unit is very customizable. Just to note, it’s a good 3min from first push to start to my perfect size coffee. That seems a bit long but beans are ground fresh and that’s not too bad. Now for Iced Coffee, this is pretty simple, you just fill a glass with ice and put under the drip and select Ice Coffee. You can still select strength and amount. I don’t think it heats it as much but it did melt a good bit of what we had. I think going forward, I will just run the iced coffee selection and then add ice and milk after. Overall, I must say that we are enjoying this unit. It was pricey but the one thing that makes this unit above what I have read on the others is the ease of use and ease of cleaning. Don’t forget how important that is. It is very important. Being able to not only get quality coffee options but most importantly, clean it up and clean it regularly with ease is huge. This unit has that. I would recommend this to others. We are not coffee experts as I have said. For us this unit is a 5 star, I could see where more picky users could give it a 4 but we see significant value in ease of use and ease of cleaning.

Amazing Machine That Will Spoil Me
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m no coffee snob, but I like a good cup of joe. For the most part, I have always used a drip coffee machine and prefer whole beans freshly ground over the pod type single cup coffees. The Philips 3200 is the first automatic espresso machine I have owned, it was like a whole new world of coffee opened to me. With just the push of a button, I had a simple café style coffee in my home. I’m a fan now. The Philips 3200 can make 5 different types of coffees: Espresso, Coffee, Iced Coffee, Cappuccino, and Latte Macchiato. The Espresso, Coffee, and Iced Coffee have an option to brew 2x if you want a larger cup, though it was also easy to just increase the maximum cup size to fit my favorite mug. Overall, I found in short: Pro’s • Easy to use. • Easy to clean for this class of machines. • Options and customization. • Quick to brew when machine is in standby. Con’s • Loud! But that comes with an all-in-one machine. • Slow startup from off. • Default settings are for small cups. • No milk only feature. Initially setup is straight forward, the instructions have easy to follow pictures with step-by-step instructions. It did take a good hour to get through all the setup, you will want to initially brew at least 5 cups and toss those out. I found that the coffee started to taste good after 8-10 brews from the first brew. Part of the initial setup includes a water hardness test and setting for the machine. The descaler filter in the water reservoir helps keep the machine running well and coffee tasting great. If you’re like me and used to a large cup of coffee in the morning, remember that this is an espresso brew, so the cup sizes are much smaller. Even on the highest setting, the default would only fill half of my favorite mug. Though once you adjust the maximum cup size or double brew, I found it fit my favorite mug perfectly. I also changed the default grind setting to the finest setting, which was good but I might switch back to my old blade grinder as it gets a finer grind. Which this machine still works with, as it has a pre-ground slot on top if you want to grind your beans separately. I would recommend adjusting the standby time from the initial 15mins to at least 60mins, as it will help reduce the amount of time between you and a fresh cup of coffee. Once I set it to 180mins, I was much less annoyed with having to wait between uses and found I was emptying the drip tray much less as the machine flushes the lines on startup and shutdown. The menu options are very easy to use, I had a few guests in town who figured out how to use the machine with no instruction. The brew selection, strength, and size are easy to understand. The LatteGo takes a little getting used to, with some trial & error on aligning it with smaller cups. It would be a little easier if the spout was slightly more slanted toward the machine, but I’ve figured out if I place my cup on the drip tray indicator, the milk will go in just right. With any kind of automatic machine like this, there is a list of maintenance checks to do, but the Philips 3200 makes it easy. Emptying the grounds and drip tray will be the most common chore, followed by rinsing off the brew group. The LatteGo will need cleaning depending on the type of coffee you prefer but that is a quick wash or toss in the dishwasher. The brew group does require lubrication added every 2 months or 500 cups, which is included in a small tube. Overall, I am extremely happy with the machine. It will replace multiple devices in my kitchen, and in a relatively compact size. It has made me enjoy café style coffee beyond just an old cup of joe!

A Life Saver with some Quirks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo and Iced Coffee has saved my life over the past week of having it. While it’s not literally saved my life, I do work from home and often find myself having to jump from meeting to meeting without time to be a barista and pull shots, steam milk, etc. The 3200 system is as simple as turning it on and hitting start. If you want steamed milk then turn it on, pour milk into the LatteGo and hit start. It’s truly incredible! One of the standout features of the machine is the LatteGo attachment, which automatically steams the milk and pours it into your cup. This makes the perfect latte macchiato or cappuccino every time. The machine is also fully automatic, making it incredibly easy to use. All you have to do is fill up the water tank and coffee bean hopper, select your desired beverage, and let the machine do the rest. Additionally, the machine has a built-in water filter to give you authentic flavor and extend the time between cleanings. The machine is also easy to clean, with easily removable and several dishwasher-safe parts. However, the machine does have a few downsides. It has a large footprint, so it may not be suitable for smaller kitchens or those with limited counter space. Additionally, while the LatteGo attachment can make a latte macchiato, there is no dedicated latte setting. If you want to make extra steamed milk you essentially have to trick the machine by setting it to latte macchiato, turning the bean setting to pre-ground (and not put any pre ground coffee in) then increase the milk button to full serving and start it. Would love to have them add actual latte in the future. Especially for the price. Overall, the Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo and Iced Coffee is a great choice for anyone looking for a fully automatic coffee machine that delivers consistent results. If you're looking for a high-quality coffee experience at home, this machine is definitely worth considering. I do want to provide one warning, it does take about 10ish shots of espresso before the espresso starts to taste good. I was worried that we had a broken unit but after pulling multiple shots, it became delicious and well worth the money! Pros: An incredible cup of coffee/espresso in any form Fully automatic making life too easy LatteGo attachment steams the milk and pours it automatically Lots of settings to tweak for your cup Easy to clean Built in water filter to give you authentic flavor and to extend time between cleanings So easy that my coffee intake has significantly increased lol Cons: Large counter space footprint Called LatteGo but has no actual latte setting (other than latte macchiato) No way to just make extra steamed milk without “tricking it” Coffee bean and water tank a tad on the small side

All In One Barista
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips 3200 Series does it all!!! I must say that I am extremely impressed with this machine. Unboxing, first impressions it does take up counter space but not a deal breaker. Case is made of the hard plastic but does not feel cheap and the touch screen display also seems sturdy, similar to microwave displays. The features that I love: Fully automatic espresso, americano, latte, cappuccino maker at home. I no longer have to wait until at work or purchase from a store to have a great cup of coffee. The cost per cup is significantly cheaper and does not create all the waste from purchasing plastic pods. Built in ceramic grinder for coffee beans, also allows you select the coffee strength when grinding the beans. After grinding up the beans, it also has a hopper to hold the coffee grinds that is large enough so you don’t have to empty after each cup made. Another great feature is the milk container that you pour the milk into and it froths and automatically dispenses directly to the drink via a spout. The froth is perfect every time. The Philips 3200 also has temperature control for your perfect temperature brew. Also, this machine has a decent sized water reservoir so you don’t have to constantly fill it (1.8L) after each cup made. I also like that the reservoir is on the side and easy to fill or access. Tested each type of coffee and it is extremely easy because all you need is to fill the bean hopper, milk container and water reservoir. It takes about 2-3 minutes per cup/coffee type to make and I must say it is consistent every time. Clean up and maintenance is pretty easy. Clean milk container, the grind catch and base. The water reservoir has a filter so you don’t have to descale often just replace the filter. Overall, this machine makes great tasting coffee consistently similar to what you would buy at a coffee shop. Also, you save the environment by not buying individual coffee pods made in plastic containers and you don’t have to buy filters because you are grinding beans per cup. This would justify the cost as well as the taste because of fresh beans grounded per cup. This is a great at home barista coffee maker! I highly recommend.

Get your wallet or purse and go bye it now !!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WOW Plain and simple if you are a coffee, espresso cappuccino drinker grab your wallet get to best buy because this will be the best purchase you have ever made, worth every penny and then some. The setup was actually very simple. It comes with a instruction book on the setup and just follow it to the letter. You can use already ground coffee or coffee beans. I when with the coffee beans because it seems to give you a much more bolder flavor. One thing and it's very important is be ready to drink some of the best coffee drinks you can make at your house without going to the local coffee shop. Yes it's not cheap but you will save way more in the long run because now your not going to be paying $6 for a drink down the street or using gas to go get it. I also got some Carmel flavoring to add to the milk steamer. I absolutely love this machine. It's a little bigger than your coffee pot you have now but you can do plain coffee with this also,so say goodby to the old machine and welcome in your new one. Setup and care of the machine is super easy and it comes with a book letting you know when to clean what how to clean it and maintenance on the machine. This makes simply the best coffee drink i have ever made. The only option i have not made myself is the iced coffee because i'm not one for cold coffee but my son and daughters have all made one and simply love them. My kids would stop by normally once a week but now i'm seeing them on almost a daily basis because now i get a visit while i'm making them there favorite drink to head off to work, and i never thought i would be a coffee drink slinger lol so so so well worth the money.

Best coffee, better than a coffee shop.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked up this coffee maker on black friday after trying it at my uncles house and it is fantastic. I use Illy classico espresso beans in it and the coffee is fantastic. I can make an iced coffee for the morning commute in no time and even the milk foamer works well for a latte. My wife who is not a big esspresso drinker loves the coffee setting. The machine has been easy to clean, easy to operate, and produces great results. Only downsides are that it is quite loud and takes a little while to start up. But neither of these are out of the norm for a grinder or espresso machine. 5 out of 5 stars worth every penny.
