I bought this to replace a Denon that burned out. This does everything I need and more. Internet connectivity is a plus and works well with my Samsung 3D TV and bluray player.

I had no idea what a difference the step up in quality would be. I went from an Onkyo 709 to a Denon 2100 to this. Onkyo went bad on the hdmi and the Denon I didn't think was worth the money, so I returned it for the SC81 and WOW. The power this thing has really shows in the sound depth. It's hard to explain but trust me, for $900 it's worth every penny.

Easy to install & set-up, excellent features for the price. Lots of connections for peripherals. Unit itself is a little tall, somewhat bulky. Remote is light, thin, intuitive to use. Very responsive.

Extremely difficult to set tone. Instruction book written by someone that assumes the buyer is as smart as them. Volume buttons on remote too small and located where it is easy to hit by accident

This system is amazing at what it is able to do in this price range. Setup is not the simplest thing in the world, but aided by the AVNavigator app it wasn't that difficult. The internet connectivity is great and has a lot to do with the 5 star rating. App control (more later)' Pandora, vTuner, and AirPlay make this unit so much more than a just a home theater system. It has 2 full independent zones, plus a third possible with a 2nd HDMI connection (haven't used the HDMI Zone). Zone 2 allows a different source totally independent of the Main zone. A little bummed that AirPlay does not support video, only audio. The remote is a nightmare, but unneeded with the AVControl5 apps. The apps allow full control of all zones and the iPad app is awesome. The iPhone app has the same full functionality as the iPad app, but with a pesky sporadic connect error, it is not as reliable and useful. Picture quality is spectacular. I use the system with Main and Zone 2 audio. Have connected LG Plasma TV, LG Bluray, Grace Radio (largely replaced with Internet radio capabilities) Wii, and U-Verse cable. Solid unit with many high end features not usually found in a unit at this price.

I had purchased this based off the online description stating that it had 4k pass through and upscaled. It in fact does not upscale. If you do not need that functionality, then the receiver itself is great.

I replaced my 4 year old Pioneer receiver and got this one when it was on sale for 350 and let me tell you the extra features are amazing. the simple point that you can dl an app to control different and change aspects of the receiver from your phone is great. The PQ and AQ won't disappoint. Must buy if its in your budget.

Great system for anyone who loves sound!

To begin with, the service was great: I got this before the listed date and was quite satisfied with the service. In addition, I love the product! It produces great sound through my speakers. I have used and loved Pioneer products for a very long time and every one of them has preformed to my satisfaction.
I love the fact that it is Spotify and Pandora ready. I use both those music streaming services and to have it on my stereo system in my room is great! Also, I love the Bluetooth compatibility! It allows me to play my music from my iPhone, iPad or iPod, without the need for cords from just about anywhere in my house.
It has plenty of HDMI ports to hook up all your devices (TV, DVD, VHS, Blu Ray, CABLE, Apple TV, DVR, etc.) to. Produces great sound. Great price, very affordable. All you need in one box!

Love the sound and the amount of options within the system. Tons of ability to tune and adjust. One problem I have, otherwise I would give 5 stars, is how difficult it is at first to set up. After a few hours and a dinner break, I got used to how it works and was able to program it right.

Great Receiver!

This thing has all the necessary inputs that the average person will probably ever need. The two HDMI output is awesome feature as I have both a plasma and projector in same room...can pass signal simultaneously to both, so I can have the PS4 on the projector and when Im done I pull the screen up and the wife can watch normal TV on the plasma. Or vice versa.
Setup can get a bit frustrating as they make it very confusing to grasp the difference between Zone 2 and HDZone. Took me a while to figure this out. Easy way to remember is HDZone is for digital and Zone 2 is for analog...in a nutshell. So in my situation I use HDZone. This allows for the HDMI signal to output to both screens. (Zone set to Main and "Out 1/2 = 1&2")
After the setup hurdle its become fairly easy to navigate.
I highly recommend the iControl AV5 app for the iPad. Very polished and easy to navigate. I tried the Android version but its horrible, just looks bad and confusing interface with no landscape view.
Overall I am content with this purchase, highly recommend.
