The latest technology with the Dolby Atmos Surround Sound is incredible. The Pioneer Elite series does a great job even in a room that was not originally setup for a home theater system. The setup is extremely easy with the mic the system comes with. It only takes about 15 minutes to complete for the basic setup. I would recomend the phone app or setup after connecting a network cable to the system and going to the setup web page for the device IP address. This is much better than trying to setup the system through the front panel on the receiver.

Pioneer SC-85 is a great performing and sounding receiver. Tons of power, this receiver can play LOUD if you want to. Plenty of connections for HDMI driven devices and speakers. It accomodates bi-amping of speakers which is a huge plus for higher end setups. The app that comes with this is awesome, you can easily control all your settings and functions from your tablet or smartphone. The app is user friendly with great graphics too. WiFi functions work great. The only negatives are that the WiFi adapter is not built in, you need to buy a separate adapter. It is also not HDCP 2.2 compliant (virtually all current receivers aren't) so the ability to view some future 4k media may be affected (or not). The future HDCP standard has not been officially decided yet so none of the receivers have incorporated it yet. This might change with the next generation of receivers. Overall, a powerful, nice sounding, nice performing receiver. You will not be dissappointed.

phenomenal sounding receiver! video switching is slow, but there are many features & many inputs. HDZONE works well. Pandora and input setup work very well. setup interface is exceptional. MCACC is great. enough power to drive old, low impedance klipsch speakers. only downside is lousy remote.

This receiver is awesome. It is easy to setup and use but also has lots of settings for the professional audiophile. I have a 9.1 speaker system and it uses every speaker for a true theatre experience at home. I did the ATMOS firmware upgrade so this receiver could handle 11.2 if I had two more speakers and another sub.

Best performance of any receiver that I've owned. The Operators Manual (not included) will be required to make adjustments for optimal sound quality. The MACC feature is simple, but to get the best sound, manual adjustments will be necessary. This receiver is packed with features so, this may take some time to accomplish but It's worth the effort..

i bought this since i was always switching cable for playstation from tv to projector, this has 3 hdmi outputs so I can play on either with the touch of a button, i have the B&W CM5s and it delivers lots of power , I had a different receiver and they didn't sound anywhere as good as now !!

Once you learn how to use and setup the reciever it sounds great. I have had more expensive receivers but this is the best sounding. The app is a great feature. I can control everything in my iPhone or ipad. Has all the latest sounds

Got this discontinued for more than 50%, can't beat that price! no it doesn't have the new DTS-X but then again is there really a need for it when it might not even stick with ATMOS already out..

I purchased this receiver along with 4 Energy speakers and a sub. It's easy to use, I have it set up to so that my BluRay and Cable box both come through this for fabulous surround sound!

The pioneer elite is by far the best dolby atmosphere receiver you can get for the money. Super easy set up. Solid clear sounds.

I have had no problems with this unit so far, it has very good response and power is very stable and equal across all Chanels, my only complaint is that the unit is a bit bigger than most therefore hard to find a cabinet to fit it in.

This is my first 'higher' end AV receiver, and I'm very happy about it. Setting up was really easy. I had it hooked up and running in no time. I also run the room/speaker correction program, and it definitely improved the system. Currently my setup is still 'only' 5.1 so can't comment on Atmos performance. Only complaint so far, has been the shaky AirPlay support. It works but tend to fall occasionally. I have a AppleTV connected to it anyway, so that doesn't matter to me. You can download a remote app for iPhone or iPad. I'm using both, and those quite ok. This all is based on shipped firmware. All in all very happy about the product, especially audio quality wise.

After unboxing this receiver and hooking up to the internet so i could download the software update for dobly atmos, i started hooking all the speakers up. the connections on the back side are all very good quality and the unit itself is built very well! however figuring the unit out at first was very difficult. i could not figure out how to get the sub to work when i had just an auxilary cable plugged in. the first hour i was frustrated, the i figured everything out and how to change the settings. After the bumpy road at first! i love it! its powerful, i understand how to work everything! a great receiver. have not hooked up the multi room yet, but that is in the future. having a good set of speaker cables hmdi cables and nice speakers is totally worth the money spent on this. had a old denon receiver and this thing blows it out of the water!!

I have owned several AVR's in the past and I consider this Pioneer elite SC 85 as the best one. The music comes out very clear and refined, bass is well defined. I still have to try watching an Atmos movie to validate 100% of my review. There's not much avalable movies out there yet, hope to find one that will produce the surround sound this AVR claim to be.

If you are a fan of Onkyo but want a few more features...this is the receiver for you. It actually has a more powerful sound than the Marantz, which I intended to buy, but after comparing the 2 brands for over a month, I just kept coming back to this receiver. Haven't had it long, so more experience with it to come...but thus far...very happy.

Over all its the best receiver in the market. Great sound. Great price.

I really like the item and its features. Good for connecting all your entertainment system to one A/V piece but I think its too bulky.
