These speakers are part of Pioneers Andrew Jones designed set for 5.1 or 7.1 . These bookshelfs are pretty large and as such have great response and pretty good bass on their own. Although I bought the tower speakers for my fronts, the bookshelfs may be a better fit if you need a smaller system. There is one problem that I would say you need to be aware of and is the reason I don't give them 5 stars. The speakers are larger ( as I said), about 16" tall by 8 wide by 10 deep. However, they also do NOT have any socket or fixation point on the bottom or top. There is a port on the REAR of the speakers, so you cannot mount them on a wall unless your mount can keep them far enough off the wall to not affect the response of the system. Also you will need to come up with your own mount as there is no fixation point on the rear either So a Stand of some type is a necessity and the base of that needs to be large enough to accomodate the speakers size. The speakers sonic response is outstanding and a perfect match for the center channel and sub so 4 stars is still justified. I do recommend them.

I bought a new turntable and wanted some good speakers to try it out with. Other reviews were excellent and these were half what some comparable speakers were. They aren't super loud (which is ok for apartment living), but clean and clear. Very happy with the purchase

I'm using these as surround speakers as part of a larger 5.1 home theater system and they sound great. I'm truly blown away with the sound from the entire Pioneer "Andrew Jones" collection. It sounds much better than it should for the price and you would have to spend upwards of $2000 on a Bowers and Wilkins soundbar to get close to the sound quality of even a budget 5.1 system. The Sonos soundbar, sub, and wireless surround system is not even close to sounding as good as the Pioneer "Andrew Jones" system. If you have the space for these speakers, it's an obvious improvement over any soundbar I've heard so far.

I purchased the Dolby Atmos speakers that go on top of these a couple months back when I upgraded to an Atmos receiver. They looked a little weird sitting on top of my Onkyo HTIB front speakers, so I started looking at reviews of the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR speakers. I happened to catch these on sale at BB for about $80 and decided to give them a chance. They are a significant upgrade from the cheap Onkyo speakers I was using. I think they are a great value for the price, but probably won't be adequate for a true audiophile. I highly recommend these speakers if you're looking for a budget upgrade over smaller HTIB front speakers.

I just set up my turntable again after many years but needed some good speakers. I live in a small place so needed bookshelf speakers. I love the sound that eminates from vinyl, and these speakers, for the price, are great.

I'm a neophyte audiophile. Have Goldenear speakers and Grado headphones. Wanted a satisfying sound from my laptop. Paired the Pioneers with a Lepai dac--the sound is great. I can't imagine getting a better sound for the price of the Pioneers. Andrew Jones knows how to design speakers!

These are obviously more bulky than some higher priced units, but the sound quality is excellent for the money. Great tonal separation, no distortion, etc. I love these things!

I was pleasantly surprised with these Andrew Jones designed speakers. There was no room for a sound bar since my 43" took up completely all of the room on top of my tall chest-a-drawers so I needed and alternative solution for better sound than the TV provided. So I went with a mini amplifier and some small bookshelf speakers that could be placed behind the TV. After much searching I decided to take a chance with the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR bookshelf speakers full knowing they were originally meant to part of an 5.1 system. They sound really good for their size. The only short coming as expected is the low bass frequencies which every small speaker cannot produce. The bass coming from the speakers also have a slight booming as expected from a 4" woofer. Overall the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR bookshelf speakers are really great sounding speakers currently at a really good price point.

I enjoy the my Pioneer speakers. The sound is awesome! Not only I get to enjoy the great sound but when I purchased them, they were on sale...what a deal!

Very articulate I'm using them as rear surrounds had some polks tried Boston acoustics and klipsch so far these pioneer speakers sound the best to my ears I'm very happy with purchase .

These speakers are awesome. Nothing much left to say about it. The whole pioneer set together are superb. I don't think you can find a better bang for your buck home theater system out there.

These have great sound for a small bookshelf speaker. I have these set up as rear surrounds with the andrew jones designed pioneer sp-fs52 floorstanders and spc22 center with a yamaha 10 inch sub. All powered by the yamaha rx-v373 receiver. After tweaking settings on the receiver this setup sounds great. Got the complete 5 speaker package when they were on sale for less than 350 dollars which for the design and sound quality I think would be hard to beat. The sound is very natural and clear. If you are looking for a great sounding surround speaker setup at a very reasonable price this is it...

I use these speakers as surrounds in my home theater system, and they are superb. Excellent sound quality. I have these hooked up to a Sony STR-DH810 amp. These speakers are a little big, so I bought some special wall mounts to position them properly. Totally worth it though. I have the full Andrew Jones Pioneer setup (minus sub) and I am VERY happy with it. I live in an apt., and even without the sub there is a good amount of bass. Plus my neighbors have remained happy :)

Every review indicated that these speakers and their matching cohorts were a very reasonably priced way to achieve a nice surround/music sound. I am very pleased with the quality, sound, and look of this matching set. I purchased the center, main floor speakers and the bookshelf/surround speakers as a matching set.

These speakers are great as stand alone but are even better as surround sound. A little pricey but you are getting everything of not more then you pay for.

Purchased these speakers to put together a low cost system to play my old vinyl collection. The speakers sound outstanding and for a few hundred dollars i have a nice system with all the necessary components

I have the rest of the pioneer speakers and these round out the surround sound. These are excellent clear sounding speakers for movies, music, video games whatever. For the price these speakers are awesome

The speakers are awesome they work great has rear speakers in a 5.1 setup i have them paird with the c22 center and the fs52 towers.
