Rear quality is smooth. But at some point, needs to be louder

These Pioneer's are a great starter set of speakers for someone looking to put together a good first stereo. They pack a nice punch and don't feel overly "tinny" or anything. For the price, they are a good solid speaker set.

These were purchased for my Sons new apartment while away at College. They were light weight had a good sound for the size and fit in his smaller apartment with ease.

Read about these speakers online while researching speakers for our bedroom. Really interesting article about the development of these speakers. Purchased and couldn't wait to hear them. We were really surprised at the quality of sound. While not the same quality as my floor standing speakers they are very good!.. Are a great addition to our home. Will certainly consider others speakers from this line.

Excellent sound quality...way beyond its price point. Great imaging and soundstage. Allow them to break-in, then thier true potential will be revealed :)

These bookshelf speakers sound great and for the price are a best buy in my opinion.

I read through a number of reviews before purchasing these, and I wasn't disappointed. These are a great pair of speakers--crisp and clear. I needed a subwoofer to develop the bass enough to round them out for our living room setup.

Sound better than the price. For the starter there is not a better value speaker set.

This speaker should stand as the model for all inexpensive loudspeakers. Careful design can (within limits) offset low cost. Why can't other high end speaker deesigners try to improve the quality of truly affordable loudspeakers in the same way as Alan Jones has.

I've been listening to these for over a month now and couldn't be happier. I'm still amazed by the sound. I recently auditioned speakers that cost more than double the price at a high-end store near me and they couldn't hold a candle to the BS22s. For a small room or entry level home theater, I wouldn't even look elsewhere. Save with these speakers and apply your budget to upgraded components.

Wanted a decent first pair of speakers for my 11 year old son. Was blown away by these speakers. Phenomenal sound for the money.

These replaced some old Sony micro speakers that i loved but were accidentally blown by my 5 year old. I did my research and thought I was going to get some Polk speakers. I went to BBY and listened to a variety of different speakers. I thought these sounded the best. They are large so make sure you have the room.

Bought these to run with an old Sansui integrated amp pushing 40w/channel. Blows away anything else in this size or price range. Don't expect knock your socks off bass, too small for that, but it's plenty good enough jazz and classic rock. Electronic or Rap music fans may want to a subwoofer.

Great speakers, great sound, great price, just great.

These are a tremendous small bookcase speaker when you consider their price. Speaker designer Andrew Jones shows he can design great expensive speakers and, more importantly for most of us, great inexpensive speakers. They look great and sound great. Nice job Andrew and Pioneer!

I purchased these speakers using a price match to an online competitor and overall I was content with the sound, but not quite happy. I noticed right away that these speakers are 6Ohm vs. 8ohm which means they might require a bit more power than most speakers. I paired these with the matching center speaker, a set of pioneer surrounds, and a pioneer 7.1 receiver (although using a 5.1 setup), all in a relatively small room. The speakers output decent sound, but are overall tonally flat. I might even say lifeless. That's not necessarily a bad thing as some people don't want their sound output colored by the speakers. However, I prefer a more "bright" sound. Also, it proved difficult to get appropriate volume levels out of these speakers. That could be a function of receiver settings, although I did set the speaker output to 6Ohm. Lastly, the speakers sound great at the midrange but seem to roll off quickly in the upper and lower ranges. I wouldn't call the lower end muddy, but there isn't the tightness and definition I was hoping for. I returned these and purchased the Polk Monitor 40s which have a higher sensitivity, more range, a slightly brighter sound and cost roughly the same. I would recommend these to someone who is looking for a excellent midrange speaker at a good price that doesn't color the audio output. If you have the higher and lower ranges covered well via other means, these are a great addition to a home theater for a good price. However, if you're looking for a set with full dynamic range and excellent sound quality throughout, I would look elsewhere.

I use these as my rear channel speakers in a surround sound setup. A little bigger than what I wanted, but, they are bookshelf speakers, not true rear channel speakers. Also got them at 25% off for the pair.

These speakers take little space and sound like they are much, much more. Very crisp and clear sound - look great - sound great - very pleased with this purchase. Couldn't go wrong with the price either.

I bought these for my listening room where I listen to my old Dual turntable. They sound nice and clear and do not sound cheap. Considering buying the matching tower speakers or another pair of these.
