I purchased this radio after reading countless reviews on the internet and I have NO regrets! This was purchased to update the radio in my 2005 expedition and its better then most dealer installed radios. I love how seamlessly the car play world with my iPhone. And how easy it is to control different functions using the remote. No one has complained about being able to hear me when using hands free calling nor has Siri not understood my reply text. And the big plus is the removable faceplate as I frequently visit the city. It was definitely a great purchase and worth every penny.

Easy install and and setup. Android auto is very useful. You do not need a special expensive micro usb cable. The only thing special about the one being offered is the female connection on one end. I use a 2 dollar usb from Amazon.

So I have had this Deck for a couple months now. Long enough to know all the features and what not. One thing I am not the biggest fan of, is the volume buttons instead of a turn-knob. I knew this from the get-go. So I had expected this, so it's not a complaint, just an observance. The fact you can change the back grounds to any picture you want, awesome feature. I also love the back up camera, although I wish they would make one that came with a camera instead of relying on aftermarket ones that end up being garbage.... Everything about it I love. This is a great deck. No complaints, although I wish they had put the GPS unit in there and the turn knob... it would be over 5 stars. Great job Pioneer.

This model from Pioneer really made a difference with the overall sound of my factory speakers. And the removable face plate provides another feature that its successor does not.

The Pioneer 4100 NEX is a great system. The sound is really good via radio, Bluetooth or the SD card slot, the blue tooth works very well and syncs to your phone well.. Android Auto works with the unit, but imho the program itself needs some work. You have to be too specific in asking for direction for example. Huge upgrade over the stereo that came on the SUV.

This pioneer 7 has an excellent sound. It is very easy to operate. I love the way it interacts with my iPhone.

Overall I think the AVH-4100NEX is a pretty good car audio receiver, but there are a few rough edges that could use a little work. For example, it takes absolutely forever to scan a large SD card for music and video. And each time the receiver is powered up again it has to do at least a partial scan. As a result, I'd have to recommend against using large capacity cards. You'll spend too much time waiting for your music to start. Another example: you can't have a phone paired via Bluetooth and have an iPhone or Android phone connected to USB. As soon as the USB device is connected, it isn't possible to stream Bluetooth Audio through the receiver. Personally I carry two phones -- one for work and one personal. I pair the personal phone via Bluetooth so I don't have to remove it from my pocket, but occasionally I'd like to plug in my work (iPhone) to charge or for navigation, but that prevents me from listening to my music or audiobooks on my personal phone. It's a strange limitation that seems artificial. But other than that the sound quality and collection of features are really great. This is about the only model (other than its predecessor and successor) that combines DVD, Bluetooth, CarPlay, and Android Auto into a single unit. So for some it's the only natural choice.

Powers my 2001 Toyota 4Runner factory components speakers perfectly. CarPlay/firmware updates through USB #1, Sirius/Xm connection, two camera inputs, iPod through USB #2, great ability to adjust individual bands on graphic EQ, plays any type of disk except blue ray, SD card slot, Audyssy mic input for fine speaker calibration, or do it the old fashioned way. Capable of GPS, screen angle adjustment and remove able face plate with password for theft protection. These are just a few of the many features that this unit has. Sounds wonderful.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. I actually love it more than she does. It has the CarPlay feature that makes everything safe while driving. I text better while driving using CarPlay than I do regular texting. Has 2 inputs for cameras, hdmi, and plenty other inputs. It has every feature we needed with nav used through CarPlay what more could you ask for? Added security with removal face as well!

Overall the radio is pretty nice. My biggest dissappointment is that the radio doesn't connect fully with smartphones and relay text messages. Given its an aftermarket radio I would have anticipated more advanced features than I have found this radio to have. I wish it had a button to shut off HD radio as it can be annoying when you are out in the country and HD goes in and out. I would rate this radio higher if it had more features or was less expensive. The other notable item is one of the selling features I thought this radio had was the ability to plug into my smartphone and relay my phone screen so that I could use my smartphone mapping live on the screen. While this is possible I wasn't told until after the install that this feature would be inactive unless I removed the radio and ran a toggle switch to it to disable the safety in place to prevent viewing while the car is in motion.

This is a great radio. You do not need to purchase the more expensive nex radios like the 8100nex because this is the exact thing except for gps and capacative touch. You do not need gps because car play or android radio solves that problem where u can use your map apps. The capacative touch you dont really need it. The only issues is that there are a lot of accesories recommended, but you don't really need them. If you want to mirror your phone on the screen or use youtube you will need the app radio connector, but you can just use a hdmi cable with the av lightning adapter. Bluetooth works great, and so does car play

This is a great unit. I upgraded from an older JVC KW-N3HDT. This blew the doors off of that, let me tell you. This Kenwood has a ton of features and much more up-to-date than the JVC. I have this paired with a JL Audio C5 component speakers and a JL Audio Subwoofer. This handles it perfectly (with adjustments, fine tuning, etc..) The only problem I have is with the Apple Car Play as it still needs some work, with 3rd party apps being one of them. I recommend this for the price and what you get.

No problems using the unit. Very easy to understand. iPhone connected with no issues and the CarPlay is fantastic.

Installation and setup was very smooth for my Sequoia with the Metra 70-8113 harness. CarPlay is a tad buggy still but hopefully that will be corrected with the iOS9 update. Siri EyesFree is great and works well after you get the timing down for Siri to listen. Sound is outstanding and Bluetooth works well and connects quickly. I cannot say enough good things about the mic, the pickup and noise canceling is exceptional...

Best buy install along with backup cam, had my doubts at first unit was expensive. I watched the brief Andriod Auto video and was sold this unit work exactly as advertised it is an a/v media powerhouse, I can't think of anything it won't do. couple it with your Android device and its a home run for sure!

Looks great in the dash. Have trouble at times swapping between Apple Music on my phone and Android Autonon my wife's phone. Display is great and allows for a lot of customization, however I wish I could get rid of the big words in the background. A little distracting at times. Backup camera looks great on display. Bluetooth and phone calls sound factory installed.

EASY TO OPERATE IT DOES EVERYTHING THING THAT I NEED IT TO DO.

I decided to upgrade my 7 year old Pioneer AVIC-F90BT unit so that I could get the newer features of Carplay in particular. After reading many reviews, I settled on the Alpine ilx-007. I loved the unit initially, but started to notice a few issues; viewing angle in particular. In my vehicle ('98 Toyota 4Runner) the unit is mounted low in the dash, so the Alpine unit could be hard to see at times. Anyway, I stumbled upon this Pioneer unit and the screen TILTS! I also like all of the extra features that this has over the Alpine unit. While the Alpine system is a barebones unit completely structured around Apple Carplay, this unit can function completely on it's own OR as a strictly Carplay system. Probably the only gripe I have with the unit is that the user interface can get a bit busy at times, a little too much going on. Easy fix though: just use the Carplay mode! Anyway, very happy with my purchase.

This unit works great in my car. I use the appradio mode more than android auto so I can use pandora and waze and I love it. Played with android auto and it works fine, just doesn't do what I want for me yet. But that is a problem for Google to fix, not pioneer
