Pitch Black is an awesome start for the Riddick chroicles, this movie is filled with action, SI-IF & horror! This movie is one that will take you on a ride through the universe & back again! I would recommend buying this movie because not only was it a great story to see on the big screen but also a new idea on the future as well as the SI-IF universe!

3 of 5 stars to the sci-fi movie Pitch Black. This is the second movie in the Chronicles of Riddick series with Vin Diesel in the role of Riddick. The movie opens with a passenger transport space ship starting to crash into a world (the ship had been knocked off-course). The ship is carrying Riddick plus several other passengers. The crash breaks the ship into lots of big chunks and Riddick is landed far from the main group of passengers. The world appears to be a hot dry planet (a desert) with three Suns. So, the handful of survivors seek water as their first task. Things seem to go OK until nightfall when bird-like creatures come out of hiding and start killing/eating people. The group is re-united with Riddick just before nightfall. From here the plot is simple and not too interesting: get to another part of the crashed ship to the shuttle to escape from the planet. Of course, between where they are and where the shuttle is are those birdlike creatures. You can guess most of the rest. If you didn't see the first movie of the Riddick series you'd have no idea who this guy is and why he has shiny eyes. The movies does little to give you any of the back-story. For that matter, in this movie Riddick is a not too interesting character and there is no development that would lead to a future story. So this is a good sci-fi movie with a very predictable plot. Yes, I do recommend it.

I liked this movie because it wasn't something I expected to like. Though its kinda slow in the beginning, but once it picks up with action, just sit back and relax. The plot is on point, and the concept of aliens in the dark was just brilliant. The acting is good enough that you really care if the characters lived or died.

Bought this and haven’t watched it many times ever since because it’s a very visually dark movie so you need to watch it in a dark setting see all the details.

There have been a lot of Vin Diesel movies. Most of them haven't been that great and his position in them most often seems uncomfortable. Strangely enough, here in this movie playing a flashy-eyed serial killer who ends up going toe-to-toe with alien monsters, he seems to actually work. Most things he's in it seems all he has to do, is be large and potentially menacing. But he makes Pitch Black work.

'Pitch Black' is another one of those films that I figured would be really poor. Instead, it was rather interesting, with an impressive sci-fi story. Recommended! Note to buyers, this is the unrated director's cut that differs slightly from the theatrical version, but has several bonus features not available on the regular dvd.

Vin Diesel is a great in this movie, it fits him perfectly! Must see... Dont want to tell to much as it may give the movie away..... If you love Sci-Fi this is a movie for you.

love this movie.could have more action.If you are a riddick fan buy this movie.Picture quality is really good in blu-ray.Also sounds great.

This is a scifi horror watch as this group of people try to survive the night and darkness while watching the light. Who will survive and who dill die. did include a digital hd copy code.

Very dark(visually)movie. I would say this is more sci-fi than horror, but it is very good. Not as big budget as Chronicles of Riddick. Still a great film though!!!

Pitch Black is one of the greats science fiction thriller ever made

this was surprisingly good. i'm not much of a fan of sci-fi but this movie was interesting and kept my interest.

this pan & scan dvd version alters the original theatrical aspect ratio of the movie from 2.35:1 to 1.33:1, presenting a picture in which you lose almost 50% of the image on each side of the frame. Buy the widescreen version!
