Great movie, solid transfer, but, and I'm basing this on prior excellent work out of Arrow, it appears the master had some damages that just couldn't be repaired in the transfer process, leading to portions in the rich blacks (which is funny on two levels, just due to the blacks being so deep, a high praise, considering I'm on a mid-tier 4K TV & a non-dedicated 4K player (XB1) and that this is a film with "black" right there in the title,) that end up with "scratchy-snow" dancing throughout them in some scenes, where some a perfect & quite breathtaking, compared to the black levels I've encountered in other films. Unfortunately, this is a chance you take with some older films being upgraded to 4K nowadays (has it really been two decades since Pitch Black hit theaters? Wow, I'm old lol). For fans of Pitch Black, the entire trilogy, or Vin Diesel, this is a must-own, ESPECIALLY at this under-$20 price tag & it including the "Director's Cut" (tbh, it's about 3mins of footage & I couldn't tell you what was added/changed, it's been so long, but I'm sure hardcore fans will know immediately). For others, if you're happy with your blu ray, the price point may be enough incentive, but otherwise, dampen your expectations at a pristine transfer.

Pitch Black 2019 steelbook edition this is basically the Blu-ray release no extras only difference is the collectors steelbook which is so worth it

Great movie. I already own both the dvd and blu Ray, when I saw there was this sleek steel book I had to go out the same day and get it. Great case

I wasn't a fan of the previous steelbook release so I'm glad that Best Buy came out with this one. Waiting for the others in the series.

David Twohy's first chapter of the Riddick series arrives on 4K courtesy of Arrow Video. A small but fantastic Sc-Fi film. Arrow's release is somewhat disappointing, yes you get a brand new 4K master of the film on an UHD, the legacy features + The following NEW special features: Nightfall: The Making of Pitch Black Black Box: Jackie's Journey Black Box: Shazza's Last Stand Black Box: Bleach Bypassed Black Box: Cryo-Locked Black Box: Primal Sounds What you don't get: A Blu-ray disc. (Only an UHD disc is included) A slipcover. I would still recommend this product, and Best Buy had the lowest price in town!!

This is a one of the best sci-fi movies to come out in the early thousands era. The steelcase feels well suited for this kind of movie.

This movie was very different I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was action filled with a sci fy plot. I like Vin Diesel movies

Whether you like Vin Diesel or several other known actors in this movie, it's a fun scifi horror flick that's has an interesting spin. His character, Riddick, spawned two other movies. Worth a look see

This movie is primo! Once it takes ahold of you, well your hooked. Love this one! Steelbook art is so cool. You will love it.

In one of Vin Diesel's Sci-Fi classics, he's a prisoner on board a doomed space ship that crash lands on a planet inhabited by vile underground creatures. They only come out once the day light goes down. He must then be trusted by the others to get a plan together to get off the planet. As time goes on, one by one they get "picked off" by the creatures. The movie looks really good on 4K UHD! Sound is great also! An improvement over any previous releases! Thank you Arrow! A must buy if you like Vin Diesel and this movie in particular. Easy selections on Menu. This is the 4K UHD version only. No digital or Blu-ray copy. I recommend!

This packaging is amazing. Dare I say beautiful. And the movie wooden side is just as great. Definitely worth purchasing

I really like the steel box the graphic is well done and now having it in Blu-Ray is even better to watch the movie.

Arrow's first 4k didn't disappoint. The video is in Dolby Vision and this is the best Pitch Black has ever looked including it's theatrical run 20 yrs ago. This disc has both the rated and unrated editions in 4k. The Audio is only DTS 5.1 Master Audio. A DTS:X mix with been nice, but it does decode nicely to X with a receiver. The real gem in this collection is the new special features and archival special features. This is Criterion level special features. Included is the anime movie which bridges Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick

I love the world of Pitch Black and I’ll go see anything with Vin Diesel in it, Even ‘The Last Witch Hunter’

A Great si-fi horror movie that doesn't have to be a huge budget. One of Vin Diesal best . Highly Recommended.

The beginning of a great sci-fi trilogy. Vin Diesel in my opinion is the perfect actor for the role. He plays a captured con that is absolutely ruthless and determined to survive a crash landing on an alien planet. Stranded with a bounty hunter, the ship's female pilot, a young girl, pretending to be a boy and several other passengers. The planet is due for an eclipse (hence the title pitch black) and when the world falls into darkness a voracious horde of aliens arise to devour everyone. Vin Diesel becomes an unlikely hero, and not your typical hero at that. Ruthless, determined, and unafraid to make sacrifices to get off the planet. Rocks from beginning to end. Follow it up with The chronicles of Riddick, and then Riddick. All 3 are excellent sci-fi adventures.

Great movie and classic to his career and his future to movies. Set the pace for sci fi and more.

This is one of my favorite steelbook editions of this movie. And this movie is absolutely amazing.

Movie holds up well with time. Hybrid alien(s) movie but holds your attention start to finish.
