Great Console but questionable gaming ecosystem

I had been on Team Xbox since the beginning but decided to switch to the PS5 because of the exclusive games. Performance-wise, the Xbox Series X and PS5 are on the same level. I would probably say the XSX is a little bit faster but its so minimal. I don't like the design on the PS5 and ended up purchasing different cover plates. The console is massive and with concerns about overheating, I didn't want to keep it in my entertainment center. I heard about other users having issues with large amounts of dust collecting in the system over time so I bought a mesh dust cover to put over the front of the system. The controller is really nice and feels like a next-gen piece of equipment, unlike the Xbox controllers. The battery life isn't great, so I recommended getting a second controller or a 10 ft. USB-C cable. A few things irked me over the first few weeks of the purchase. Regarding the storage capacity, the Xbox is 1TB, and the PS5 is 825GB. I thought it was weird that PS5 used that storage capacity on their box. I figured that was the storage capacity after it was reformatted, but its not. After it is formatted, it drops down to 650GB. With the increasing size of games, I found myself in a situation where I either have to purchase additional internal storage, which is pricey, or move the games between the console and an external SSD drive. Coming from Xbox, where doing a return for a digital download is easy, it is the exact opposite when dealing with Sony. I unknowingly purchased a DLC already included in one of the games I bought. I learned that digital downloads cannot be refunded once they have been DOWNLOADED to your system. It was only $10 but if you pre-order a game and have auto-download on, it's yours, even if you change your mind and never play it. The week after I purchased the system, Sony also announced that they would raise the PlayStation Plus prices by 33%. I play video games to take a break from the real world for 1-2 hours and avoid the online competitive gaming space so it wasn't a deal breaker but made me rethink my purchase. With all that negative stuff out of the way, actually playing the games is really enjoyable. The Last of Us: Part 1 and 2 were both incredible and a nice introduction to what the PS5 is capable of.

PS5: The WiFi Router That Changed My Life

Alright, the PS5 is basically the Beyoncé of gaming consoles. Sleek, powerful, and always delivering. The load times? Practically nonexistent. Blink and you’re already in the game. The graphics are so crisp it’s like your TV got a degree in 4K brilliance. And don’t even get me started on the controller. The haptic feedback and adaptive triggers? Chef’s kiss. It’s like the controller is gossiping with your fingers about what’s happening in the game. Downside? It’s chunky. This thing looks like a futuristic WiFi router that lifts weights. And yeah, it’s expensive, but once you see Spider-Man swinging in ray-traced glory you’ll stop crying about your wallet. If you can get one without selling your soul or fighting scalpers, do it. It’s worth it.

I recently purchased the brand new PlayStation 5 in its stunning white iteration, and it has exceeded all expectations. The sleek design not only adds a touch of modern elegance to our entertainment center but also reflects the powerhouse that lies within. Performance-wise, the PS5 delivers an unparalleled gaming experience. The lightning-fast load times, courtesy of the SSD, whisk you into gaming worlds with minimal wait. The graphics are nothing short of breathtaking, showcasing the capabilities of next-gen hardware. Whether exploring open-world landscapes or engaging in intense battles, the visual fidelity and ray tracing are a true feast for the eyes. The DualSense controller is a game-changer. The adaptive triggers and haptic feedback add a new layer of immersion to every gaming session. Feeling the tension of a bowstring or the subtle vibrations that simulate different surfaces heightens the overall experience. The diverse game library caters to all preferences, from gripping exclusives to third-party gems. Backward compatibility ensures that our existing game collection doesn’t go to waste, and the PlayStation Plus offerings provide a steady stream of exciting titles. The user interface is intuitive, making navigation a breeze. The inclusion of the Create button on the DualSense controller allows for effortless sharing of epic gaming moments. The console's whisper-quiet operation ensures that the focus remains on the gaming magic rather than distracting noise. In summary, the PlayStation 5 is a true masterpiece, blending cutting-edge technology with a design that demands attention. It's not just a gaming console; it's a gateway to extraordinary adventures and a new era of gaming excellence. My fiancé and I couldn't be happier with this exceptional addition to our gaming setup.

The Best Sony Console Since Playstation 2!

Simply put, I love my PS5! First of all, Best Buy's shipment of my system arrived quickly and without any hassle at all. I got Final Fantasy XVI for my birthday and now playing it on the new system. The console loads games from start to the title screen within 3 seconds! The games don't even have loading times at all, feels like playing the Super Nintendo again, haha. Yes, they finally got the instantaneous loading right once again. Of course, the graphics are beautiful, truly modern technology at its best. At $500, you could never buy a computer rig to match its capabilities. The PS5 is very quiet and never revs up like a jet engine (PS4 Pro old models), even during intense combat scenes. So I suspect the cooling system is great. I put the system flat or horizontal because electronics just work better that way. Plus, it'll be good for the console in the long run. You should do the same if you're reading this review. I've been a technician for these consoles since the first Playstation! The controller has weight to it and feels very premium. Haptic feedback is interesting...it actually pushes against your finger when using the R2 or L2 button. The battery life is a little short, but you can mess with it by turning the indicator light on the controller to low as possible to help with that. I like this Dual Sense controller, definitely an improvement over the Dual Shock 4 or past generations. I haven't played online yet (have not done so since the PS3), but I'm sure the online coop/multiplayer is great compared to the Playstation 3 era. Overall, a fantastic buy, highly recommended if you're thirsting for the latest in console gaming!

The PlayStation 5 (PS5) by Sony is a true emblem of next-generation gaming, promising and delivering a transformative player experience. Right from the sleek, futuristic design to the interactive user interface, the PS5 exudes a modern and streamlined vibe. One of the groundbreaking features is the lightning-fast loading times thanks to its high-speed SSD. This not only enhances the gaming experience but also significantly reduces the waiting time during game loads. The swift transitions and nearly instant load times keep you immersed in the gaming universe without any disruptive pauses. The new DualSense controller is nothing short of revolutionary. With haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, it offers a tactile experience that allows you to feel the tension and impact in your gameplay. The ergonomics of the controller also deserve a mention; it's comfortable to hold for extended gaming sessions, making the overall gaming experience more enjoyable. The game library, with an extensive range of new and backward-compatible titles, ensures that there's something for every gamer. The exclusive titles like "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" and "Returnal" showcase the true potential of the PS5's hardware capabilities. The PS5’s 4K graphics and high frame rate options are visually stunning, providing crisp, vibrant, and fluid visuals that breathe life into every scene. The audio experience is equally impressive, with 3D audio technology creating an immersive sound environment. On the downside, the availability of the PS5 has been a concern since its launch, and the console's high demand often outpaces supply. Additionally, the storage capacity can fill up rather quickly especially with the installation of a few heavy AAA titles, though it's expandable. The new user interface and the Control Center provide a more integrated and user-friendly experience, making it easier to jump in and out of gameplay or to catch up on friends' activities. In conclusion, the PlayStation 5 stands as a robust and revolutionary gaming console that pushes the boundaries of what's possible in the gaming world. Despite minor drawbacks like storage capacity and availability, the PS5 is a worthwhile investment for any avid gamer, boasting a blend of powerful performance, revolutionary control, and a vast game library. Sony has indeed set a high bar in the gaming community with the PS5, and it's exciting to envision what the future holds for gamers.

Finally made the jump from my PS4 to a PS5 and I have been more than pleased after putting in a few hours of gameplay and use with it! This console definitely lives up to the hype with the improved graphics, speed, and the functionality of the new dual sense controller! The only complaint I have is the storage space. Out of the 825 GB on board, only about 650 GB or so are usable for games and user data. However, with the option to install an internal M.2 SSD, Sony definitely makes up for it!

The PlayStation 5 is an absolute game-changer for gaming enthusiasts. Design and Build First off, the PS5’s design is striking. It’s bigger than previous consoles, but the sleek, futuristic look is a nice addition to any setup. It does take up a lot of space, so make sure you have room for it. The white and black color scheme is modern, though it might not match every decor. Graphics and Performance The graphics are where the PS5 truly shines. With support for 4K and high frame rates, the games look amazing and run smoothly. Titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West look stunning and bring out the full potential of the console’s hardware. The faster load times with the SSD are immediately noticeable; you’re waiting much less to get into games, which keeps the experience flowing.

Im blown away by the beautiful design of my new PS5. Besides the beautiful cabinet design, the ease of use and set up are flawless. The graphics are so sharp and clear, that it feels like the characters are right in the room with me! The colors are vivid and bright on my tv, and i experienced no lag time while playing various games. I also love the feel of the controller and the button layout.

Purchasing the PS5 from Best Buy has been a game-changer in my gaming experience. The console delivers breathtaking 4K visuals, ultra-fast load times, and the DualSense controller introduces a new level of immersion with its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. However, it’s important to note that the PS5’s internal storage can be limiting. The original model offers 825GB of storage, with approximately 667GB available for use, while the newer Slim version provides 1TB, with around 850GB usable . Given that modern games can be quite large, you might find yourself managing storage space frequently. To address this, Sony allows for storage expansion. You can install a compatible M.2 SSD to increase internal storage or use an external USB drive for PS4 games . This flexibility helps mitigate storage concerns and enhances the overall gaming experience. In summary, the PS5 stands out as a powerful and innovative console that elevates gaming to new heights. While storage limitations exist, the options for expansion ensure that you can tailor the system to your needs. If you’re considering a next-gen console, the PS5 is a compelling choice that delivers on its promises.

I was skeptical when I first bought my PS5 after reading the reviews and major differences between the two consoles. First thing I noticed was how much bigget the PS5 is; it’s a small spaceship when you compare the two. Once I got it hooked up though I instantly noticed the differences. The picture and graphics on my Sony 4k TV were much better than I expected after reading the reviews. The transfer from my PS4 to the PS5 was seemless and quick! Much faster than PS4 1st gen to PS4 Pro. After downloading the crossover versions of MW2, COD Cold War and Tony Hawk the game launch was also much faster than I anticipated. It is almost instant. The game play was what I was waiting to try out. The pressure sensitive triggers took some time getting used to but eventually I got used to it. The graphics and blur are soooo much better than I expected. The installation of the internal hard drive was easy and quick and the formatting didn’t take but maybe 5 minutes. Overall I am extremely pleased and happy with my upgrade. If you are wondering if it’s worth it, it definitely is.

The PlayStation 5 is an impressive gaming console that delivers a next-generation gaming experience. The console boasts powerful hardware that allows for stunning graphics, smooth gameplay, and fast loading times. The DualSense controller is a standout feature, providing immersive haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that enhance gameplay. The user interface is sleek and intuitive, making it easy to navigate through the various features and games. The console also supports backward compatibility, allowing you to play select PlayStation 4 games. One of the downsides of the PlayStation 5 is its large size, which may not fit well in smaller entertainment setups. Additionally, the initial game library for the console is somewhat limited, but more titles are expected to be released in the future. Overall, the PlayStation 5 is a fantastic gaming console that offers a high-quality gaming experience with impressive visuals, immersive gameplay features, and a user-friendly interface.

I already had a PS5 Digital Edition, which is exactly the same as the standard disc edition in specs, but obviously doesn’t have a disc drive, so I purchased an additional PS5 with a disc drive to play my blu-ray movies. What I love about the PS5 is the extremely fast loading, PS Plus Extra which has even better game offerings than Xbox Game Pass, the controller, the clean and minimal home menu, the customizable side plates (I got black plates for mine), the unique design, the amazing SSD storage options which Xbox Series X simply isn’t as good at, and of course the games. Right now you can get an extremely fast 2TB WD Black SSD for around $80, so it’s actually getting cheaper to buy these too and they’re very easy to install. With FF16 recently released and Spider-Man 2 coming in two months, it’s the perfect time to jump in for newcomers.

The PlayStation 5: A True Next-Gen Experience The PlayStation 5 isn’t just a console; it’s a gateway to a whole new level of gaming. From its sleek futuristic design to its unmatched performance, the PS5 has redefined what players can expect from their gaming experience. First, let’s talk about speed. The SSD is a game-changer. Load times are practically nonexistent, making transitions between menus and gameplay seamless. Open-world games like Horizon Forbidden West feel alive and responsive, with no interruptions to break immersion. Then there’s the graphics. With ray tracing and 4K support, every game looks stunning. The level of detail, lighting effects, and textures create an experience that’s visually breathtaking. Coupled with smooth frame rates, it’s hard to go back to anything else. The DualSense controller deserves its own mention—it’s the perfect companion to the PS5’s power. The adaptive triggers and haptic feedback make gameplay incredibly immersive, allowing you to feel every explosion, impact, and moment of tension. The PS5’s UI is clean and intuitive, making it easy to navigate and switch between games and apps. And the backward compatibility with PS4 titles means your gaming library stays relevant, offering hundreds of hours of entertainment. Sony has delivered a true masterpiece with the PlayStation 5. The PlayStation five in every way, shape and form is better than the PS4, but it doesn’t has some problems one this consul is an absolute unit and it’s hard to fit into my 32 inch TV stand and the stand that it comes with feels like it doesn’t grip onto the TV stand like some other consuls so plugging in the USB-C for the controller my consul will rotate and get push back two the new controller is amazing. It feels great, but it’s adaptive triggers gets a little bit annoying for most games first party Sony titles like Spider-Man feels absolutely amazing but third-party games a call of duty and need for speed doesn’t utilize them as well and sometimes gets in the way or it’s just a waste of battery life three if you have a TV that is under 4K you need to upgrade to enjoy this consul to its fullest I upgraded from a 1080p to a 4K and it was night and day on how games looked felt and played so if you get TV that is 4K it will make your gaming experience, so much more enjoyable on so many more levels

This is an amazing console! The graphics are amazing! If you had a PS4 there are some games that auto convert for free to the PS5 versions and they have such a huge boost in quality. The disk tray is perfect if you still have PS4 disks as well. The only thing I will say is that I wish the controller had more texture. It is very smooth and rather slippery. Other than that, it is a great console. I was able to fit it in a perfect slot in my Ikea TV set too. I was unable to use the stand but I did place little rubber spacers to ensure that air flow was sufficient enough. No heating problems to report.

Im glad they had them in stock, I walked in and asked for one, then I walked out with one all in the span of 15 minutes. I payed of course. PS5's performance is what I would expect from a next gen console, set up was easy and data transfer from PS4 to PS5 is extremely easy. Standard 500 Gigs is an insult but you can always upgrade so it doesn't personally bother me but it might bother you so I thought I'd mention it. Load time is much faster from previous gen. Its a little on the larger side but it still looks cool sitting on the media center. Now I just need a new TV to keep up with the times :)

I've wanted a PS5 for a while now. Ironically, it has less to do with any PS5-exclusive games (you can count those on one hand, pretty much), but after getting a 4K TV, I wanted to see just how big of a difference there was in my existing PS4 library...plus, I wanted a PS5 anyway. Given the problematic microchip shortage (still aching to get a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, thanks scalpers), I wasn't confident in getting one of these anytime soon, not to mention the rampant scalping that is still ongoing. I got a month of the Premium Plus membership, which I also heartily recommend, especially for those who are just starting too dip their toes into video games. It's a real good deal. Played through all of Dark Pictures: Little Hope and Ys IX, and a few game trials and more. It's at its best on the PS5, BTW. The system is excellent, but I should mention that at this time, it's essentially a "Super PS4 Pro". I know that this is consistent with new systems, and it appears that current global events are putting the stranglehold on more innovation, but I am glad to see some really awesome PS5 games coming soon, especially Alan Wake 2, Street Fighter 6, and more. I've just gotta say it. The system looks weird, and weirder still on its side. It comes with a base that does the job, but like my wife described it, it looks "melted". My own opinion, I think it's too much design, but don't judge a book by its cover. The system and interface is exceptional, and gameplay is wonderful. The controller has even more heft to it than the PS4 DualShock, probably thanks to all the little motors in it delivering haptic feedback. This takes a lot of getting used to, but it's so novel that I'm more intrigued by it than anything else. I'm really glad to get one of these, even if it was at full MSRP. (I usually wait for Black Friday deals, but given the current climate for microprocessors and the demand of these, I wasn't counting on this for at least a couple of years.) For anyone who has struggled to get one, really just request an invite. No obligation, but mine literally shipped and arrived the day I ordered it.
