First, I was just a kid in 1998 when Pokemon Blue and Red Versions came to the U.S. i became obsessed (like every other gamer kid) playing the games almost non-stop in an attempt to catch-em-all!) and have played every generation with the exception of Sun and Moon. With that said, I of course wanted to just at the chance to see the older games upgraded to full 3d graphics and explore. With the "Pokemon Let's Go!" series, they attempted to recapture the likes of "Yellow Version" that took place in the same setting as Blue and Red but had you following more in the steps of the Anime character (introducing Jessie and James from Team Rocket for example). Depending on your game purchase (LG Pikachu or LG Eevee) you will be able to start with classic mascot Pikachu or the popular pokemon Eevee. What set Yellow apart from Blue and Red was it was the first game that allowed your Pokemon starter to follow you while you walked (later introduced in future games). Let's Go has expanded this by allowing Pikachu of Eevee to ride on your shoulder. On top of that, you can also now release other Pokemon to accompany you and your starter. You can even ride some of the Pokemon to travel faster (running or flying.) One HUGE difference is the catching system. In every Pokemon game prior to Let's Go (and of course Pokemon Go) you were required to fight a pokemon to capture it (requiring you to weaken it.) Let's Go has adopted the Pokemon Go capture method with a small shrinking capture zone you need to hit to capture ( no fighting required.) Not only is this much easier, but upon capturing the pokemon you gain candy and experience points that level up ALL of your party Pokemon! While there have been devices introduced that helped a battling Pokemon share Exp, this was WAY to easy and made the game seem very childish and "hand-holding." As far as story, they made some changes here and there from Yellow, but overall it is the same. Text dialogue has changed (For example: Original Yellow had a text where Misty comments to your character "if only you were a bit older" this is a nod to the anime with Misty having a crush on Ash, but this of course was removed as you are not playing as him. The only time you will be required to fight Pokemon Vs Pokemon now is during a trainer or gym battle. It might just be me, but even these battles seemed to be very easy, possibly watered down difficulties? It is hard to say if this is true or not, but I never found myself struggling to beat any of the NPC's. The variety of wild Pokemon has also changed, with only certain one's available between versions (this is a staple for the series.) You will encounter a lot of Pokemon randomly where you could not in the original Yellow version (Chansey for example can appear in a number of areas while in the original game it was only available in the Safari Zone.) These Pokemon will appear in Pokemon Go style walking, flying, swimming, or running around for you to find them. Speaking of the above mentioned Safari Zone, it is non-existent now! It has been replaced by a park-type system that you can connect to your Pokemon Go account. This will allow you to transfer Pokemon to Let's Go from Pokemon Go (not the other way around.) This can be helpful in filling out the Pokedex, and will allow you to interact with them in tje Park prior to catching them. Another small bonus is that if you use this with Pokemon go you will unlock an item ghat let's you catch Meltan (a new mythical Pokemon) in Pokemon Go. Along with other changes, the Game Corner is also no longer a gambling hut hideout for team rocket. The original game required you to play slot machines to win prizes, they have changed this. The Hidden Machines no longer take up a Pokemon move slot! Pikachu and Eevee will now be your tanks via a menu for special moves. They can "fly" "surf" "cut", you name it. Overall, I enjoyed my time with this game, but nostalgia fueled my playing. I feel that Nintendo low-balled a lot of the hardcore fans by making this game WAY to easy, but hopefully going forward they will change this and stick with the working formula. The series games are not Pokemon Go, and in my opinion need to stay separate in regards to the way they play. I would recommend this game to new comers and nostalgia seekers ( but the older fans should know what they are in for.)

I was a little skeptical about this game even when it was announced because of the influence from Pokemon GO but I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. There are no more random encounters in tall grass instead Pokemon appear so you can see which Pokemon are around. While there is no battling with wild pokemon (the game uses the Pokemon GO way of catching Pokemon, chuck balls at it and feed it berries to make it easier to catch) I actually don't really miss it. Going through caves was actually pleasant without fighting off 100's of Zubats. Training up Pokemon is also easier since everyone in your Party gets XP. You still battle other trainers and you battle the Gyms/Elite 4 like previous games. As a whole I probably still prefer the older style of Pokemon but this game is actually a lot of fun to play. **There are slight differences in Pikachu and Eevee. You get the cover Pokemon as your starter (duh) and each game has a handful of version exclusives.

    Much Needed Change

Pokemon Let's Go is aimed at a more casual fan base, but that doesn't mean that hardcore players won't enjoy this game. Its very much in every way the same games that Game Freak has been making since the very first game, but with some elements from Pokemon Go added. There are no longer any wild encounters as Pokemon are seen roaming around. This makes the world seem much more alive and it means that you get to choose whether you want to encounter Pokemon or not. You no longer fight Pokemon that roaming about to catch them or gain experience, as now you have to catch them the same way that its done in Pokemon Go. This change may come off as a bad one, but the catching mechanic adds a new layer of fun with the exception of motion controls in docked mode. There are still trainers to fight, badges to earn, as well as the elite 4 to take on, making this as much of a core game like the last entry. Its a remake of Yellow and its definitely a step in the right direction. Pokemon fans whether new or old will have much to enjoy from this title and I highly recommend it. Enjoy.

Despite growing up in the original era of Pokemon, I had never played a Pokémon game. This is my very first Pokemon game other than Pokémon Go and it makes me sorry I had never played the originals! I am not a very experienced video game player, but I do find this game pretty easy to follow with little to no direction from any game guides. It is addicting and fun and I love being able to interact with Pikachu! Satisfied with this purchase.

So by the time Pokémon came out I had moved on to other hobbies away from gaming. So I thought I would try it to see what all the fuss was all these years I’ve missed from Pokémon. I really like it. Easy to get drawn in for a long period of time. Explains things really well as you go through the game about different Pokémon and their strengths and weaknesses and how to use them.

So let me get it out the way, no this game isn’t like the mainline titles and yes it heavily resembles Pokémon go. Surprisingly the fact that it isn’t a mainline game is what makes it so good. This game just appeals to all my nostalgia senses. I thought I would hate it because of how slow you do level up and the only way to get a big bump of exp is to catch Pokémon but after my first couple of wild encounters It didn’t bother me much afterwards. The game is 10/10 beautiful, from the battles, to the overworld and even the extra details like water and grass just bring the entire thing together. Pokémon have size distinctions to one another, a onix is definitely way bigger in this game compared to a wailord in newer games. The game looks and runs better than newer games aswell though there is a slight stutter in veridian forest while playing in handheld. If your on the fence of getting it because it resembles Pokémon go, buy it and try it out. After awhile, like I said before, the catching mechanic grows on you and being able to play a HD rendition of Kanto is also a plus.

Whether you choose Eevee or Pikachu, both games are an amazing remake of the OG Blue, Red and Yellow from 1996. I highly recommend it for those who want a nostalgia trip or even kids new to the series! Pikachu is cute and collecting Pokemon is fun. Highly suggest it to all ages! I got this copy for my little siblings, I got the package with the PokeBall Plus for myself!

This game is adorable. It's a more casual remake of the first gen Pokemon games without random battles, with more of a focus on catching/collecting. If you grew up playing pokemon red/blue/yellow but haven't gotten into the newer games you will feel right at home. Instead of battling random pokemon out in the wild there's just a minigame sequence where you throw a pokeball to catch them, unfortunately this requires motion controls, you have to swing the joycon as if you're tossing a pokeball. There are still traditional battles against gym leaders.

Let's Go Pikachu is a refreshing return back to the place that started it all! Being able to see the Pokemon in the wild is a welcome addition that hopefully continues in future Pokemon games. While it is slightly annoying to have to play with motion controls, it becomes easy once you get used to it.

Purchased this as a Christmas Gift for someone who had never played the Pokemon Games growing up. The recipient had never shown interest in any of the previous Pokemon Games but has found great enjoyment in playing Lets Go: Pikachu! Originally purchased an Xbox One X as a Christmas Gift for recipient but in less than 24 hours wanted to trade it in for the Nintendo Switch and Pokemon Go: Let's Go Pikachu! Edition. Gameplay is friendly and easy to understand for new Pokemon players, and engaging enough for players who are more drawn towards the reaction type gameplay versus pure turn-based that Pokemon is known for. The catching Mechanics, while unique to this branch of Pokemon was expressed to be exciting, challenging and engaging enough to entertain my FPS-Oriented Husband! Purchased the Digital Download Code version and the Code was printed to my Receipt as well as directly e-mailed to me in-case I'd lost the Receipt. The email was already waiting for me at home!

Wasn’t too hot on this game at first, but now that I’ve progressed further in I’m liking it more. Traditional battles versus other trainers are still part of the game, it’s just that the method for encountering and catching wild Pokémon has been changed to the Go method of throwing balls and using berries to calm them down. I’m not a fan of the fact that Pokémon go into your inventory now and must be managed like other items, sending copies of Pokémon to Professor Oak in exchange for stat boosting candies. I’ve yet to run out of space for Pokémon so I don’t know if it’s possible to run out of room for them. So far this game has been a mostly faithful re-creation of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow with some glaring changes (like no more annoying Gary). This time around the player gets to name your rival, if you want to call him that, and he’s less of an antagonist like Gary and more like another ordinary kid out to be a Pokémon Master. Only time will tell if he changes. I also love that they have Alola forms of Pokémon in this game from Pokémon Sun and Moon. I’ve discovered that you can import Pokémon from Pokémon Go into Pokémon Let’s Go: Pikachu/Eevee (but only Pokémon from the Kanto region and, for whatever reason, Meltan). After doing this for the first time, I got a Mysterious Box in Pokémon Go that, after using, started making Meltan appear at my feet. The effect lasted for 30 minutes and I managed to catch 15 of them before the effect wore off. Now that I know that this works, I don’t need to worry about version exclusive Pokémon AND I’ll be able to get Pokémon that normally you could only get once per playthrough (such as the Fossil Pokémon or Eevee’s evolutions).

This is a great game. It's just like the older Pokemon games but there are subtle changes to make it different enough. They have not made it very difficult but it is still very fun. Awesome for someone that's just getting into Pokemon or someone thats a long time fan.

I have played Pokemon games since the beginning on the Game boy so believe me when I say that Pokemon Lets Go is a wonderful addition to the Pokemon series. Pokemon Lets Go is not merely a remake of GB Pokemon Yellow, but includes several news features that breathes new life in a franchise that has become stale in the last few years (with the exception of Sun & Moon). My favorite is that you can see Pokemon in the wild, a concept that would have blown my 8 year old mind back in the day. The fact that I can also choose when to encounter Pokemon relieves much of the grind from the old games. The catching mechanic is probably the newest and most controversial feature of this game. Instead of battling each wild Pokemon to a pulp and catching them, now a player must simply throw a pokeball and some candies to catch. I was not sold on the new mechanic until I tried it for myself, and I have to say, I really love it, especially with the pokeball plus accessory. The same exhilarating feeling of "will I or won't I" catch that pokemon never gets old. That is not to say there are no turn based series traditional Pokemon battles. With a plethora of trainers ready to battle at a moments notice, I never felt deprived. Throw in the best Pokemon graphics we've ever seen in a main line game, and you have a wonderful title for both the young and young at heart.

At first I didn't really want to get this game because it seem like nothing new and not as fun looking as other pokemon games but until best buy had a steelbook special with purchasing this game then it convinced me to buy it and I'm glad I did because of how updated it is and how much fun it is to play with family and friends because of the 2 player mode also it has loads of content. spoilers like different story (than the rest of kanto related games) pokemon from the sun and moon games, mega evolution, candy to make pokemon more stronger, HD content, meeting old protagonists from the original pokemon gameboy.

I bought this game for my myself and it plays the same original storyline of Pokemon Yellow but with the option of choosing Pikachu or Eevee. It's fun and the catch system is different from the original which makes it easier. I got my friend's kids into Pokemon and it was their birthdays coming up (turning 8 and turning 5) and I figured this would be a great game to get them introduced to the gameplay of Pokemon and it's co-op! They both enjoy it and when I come over they love showing me their game progress and their pokemon they have caught so far. It's great!

Fun game, I have let's go Eevee, so this completes my collection of Pokémon games on the Switch (have sword/shield also). I remember playing Pokémon Yellow when it first released, this game along with let's go eevee is a remaster of that game. It's still fun all these years later, and it's nice to see all of the original Pokémon brought to life with modern graphics. This game will take many back to their childhoods. Highly enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the Pokémon games. Only part I don't like is not being able to use my Switch pro controller when the Switch is docked, but that's a minor inconvenience just use the pokeball controller or a single joycon.
