Customers often highlight the solid gameplay, beautiful graphics, and engaging story as major strengths of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Double Pack. After the Pokemon sun and moon anime I thought that the Pokemon company was out of ideas, and they were just pushing whatever came out onto the script and going along with it. So, naturally I thought that this game would be just that an idea forced to come out, but boy was I wrong. This game is absolutely wonderful, it has all the excitement we as gamers got from the old Pokemon games. It has a great story, it is fun to play, it is more interesting because of dynamax Pokemon, and finally the new gym challenges and the battle style are awesome. So overall I would recommend this game to anyone who asks. However I will also say to wait for the Pokemon home app so you can have all of your Pokemon from the older games as well as the new Pokemon you catch in this game, but other than this there are no complains. It is an absolutely great game, and it has the thrill all of the other Pokemon games had.

Very fun game I knew it would beat Sun and Moon, the game just feels large and alive overall and most of my favorite Pokémon are in this game as well, EV training is so much easier and the wild area is cool, my favorite activity is the max raid battles.

It's a great game, but the story is short, but not so bad. It focuses more on the competitive. It's a great title and we can finally play a main pokemon game on TV. I am 100% satisfied.

Maybe it's because I'm older now but the one player story is insanely easy. I was able to get through it way too fast. Still good game. I do like it just had high expectations that were not met. It does look gorgeous though I have to give it that. All in all considering this series has been going on forever this is a pretty good game just not as good as I wanted it to be.

Dispute all the talk and speculation about how bad this game was going to be, I decided to give it a shot and both my gf and I love it! Can’t put it down.

I thought it was going to come with steel cases for the games. I guess Best buy dual pack doesn't come with steel cases for the games. What's really the point of a dual package if you just get 2 normal pokemon games and nothing else.

Pokemon Sword & Shield Double Pack - Switch

In my personal opinion, this by far is the best Pokémon game set out there for s multitude of reasons & mostly because it is long, there are many side missions, the DLC is huge that includes even more side missions & it is important to note that the egg hatching mechanism to hatch the eggs your Pokémon leave at the nursing center hatch extremely faster than normal, that is one of my favorite things about this pokemon series set of games for the switch. I highly recommend getting the double pack which includes both games, because of the codes that are included that you wont get with the singles. This is a must have for Pokémon fans everywhere!

Can you catch all of the Pokemon? No. Does it have a really complex story? No. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter for Pokemon. The new creatures in this entry are some of the strongest designs in my opinion. There are still over 400 Pokemon available in this game and via a later update/DLC there will be a total of 600+ Pokemon available, which is comparable or better than any other monster catching game on the Nintendo Switch. The main story is about 20 hours, but I have spent more than double that just in the Wild Area. The Wild Area is new to the series and features creatures walking around the overworld and a free to move camera (overworld creatures also available on the routes). Admittedly, the free camera features are missed when anywhere else in the game, but you get used to it after a while. Also, bare in mind that you need Nintendo Switch Online in order to use online features.
This is not a perfect entry in the series, but fun none-the-less.

First about the 2 pack, It contains both game cases and game cartridges in case is just a sleeve over both games.
When you hop into the game game it looks amazing, and although some of the graphics are muddy and there are pop ins the gyms and story battles all look pristine.
The game is fun to play just like previous titles with the switch of having a wild area to explore and catch new pokemon.
The wild area could be frustrating as you can encounter pokemon that are much higher level than you and thus can KO your team and you cannot catch.
The story is on rails and its best to wait to finish a part of that story to explore the wild area.
Other than those points I enjoyed the graphics, new pokemon and fun new wild area. There are also camping themes in the area that makes the game easier between fights and fun as there is not only a pokedex to complete but also a curry dex!

If you are a Pokemon fan this dual pack is the way to go. Inside of the box are two retail packages of Sword and then Shield as well as download codes for several Pokemon on a card inbetween them.
So I sympathize that these games are the first in the mainline series to not feature all Pokemon. And some have issue with the graphic style used in the game. Personally I'm not a huge Pokemon fan, but decided to get back into it after playing the X and Y games as well as Omega Ruby, Ultra Sun and then Let's Go Pikachu and Eve last year. Sword and Shield graphically have parity with the Let's Go games and run at 1080p 30fps when docked. Sure the textures are a little dated, but I'm going to take it as the Pokemon Company has yet to refine their skill on the system and we may not see another big jump in detail until the Switch 2. That said if you were okay with how the Let's Go games looked you should be okay with these.
My biggest disappointment was the announcement that all Pokemon would not make an appearance in this game for the first time in the series. I understand it takes a lot of effort to program in assets, moves, etc for 809 previous Pokemon, plus those added in this 8th generation. At this point it seems unlikely, but perhaps the Pokemon Company just has bad PR and may yet add all Pokemon to future games. Though don't expect them to be added to Sword and Shield.
As far as the story and gameplay, Sword and Shield are great games with some good story elements. Basically you and your friend, Hop (younger brother to the regional champion) set out on your journey in the Galar region and encounter some interesting characters along the way. I really have enjoyed the gyms that I have played in so far and it's nice playing a full (short of all pokemon) current mainline game on the Switch.

Great addition to the Pokémon game lineup. A lot to do and explore throughout the game. The wild area open world section is a lot of fun. The story is engaging. I for one like the fact that they switch to selling a DLC pack with additional maps and story instead Of repackaging the whole game but with minor additions for full price. Only thing I didn’t like what is this is the easiest and least challenging Pokémon game I’ve ever played.

These Pokemon games are still great & here are my reasons why..
The Pokedex is smaller ( Yes it is! However there is still a good selection of Pokemon to use! The Director even mentioned this so I wonder why this comes as a suprize to everyone??) Its nice to not see so many of the older and overused Pokemon- yes some of my favorites were cut as well but its not that bad. The games do support local LAN play between to Switch consoles for Trading or Battle (not raids). However raids can be completed solo (granted if your lvls meet the requirements) The wild area is a huge area with different weather changing the types of Pokemon that appear. If you link your game online (Nintendo Membership Required) you basically can see other players online and collect items from other players just by talking to them, do vs matches, raids, or trading. I seen a few re-views that say a lot of attacks have been deleted?? (That is not the case- only hidden power has been removed) older attacks have been split into TR's which is a one time use and TM's which are multiple uses. (Pokedex INFO! more reviews are saying pokemon such as Bulbasaur and Squirtle are not in the games..... YES THEY ARE! the games have been data mined and exist! Mew is Obtainable early on if you have the PokeBall controller and Never used the Mew that came with it! Mew just does not have a Pokedex entry. With that said the story is about as long as a normal Pokemons game story would be... however if you take your time doing Poke Jobs, Leveling, catching and exploring the wild area it does feel a lot better than just rushing the game.... BTW yes this game does restrict you as to what lvl Pokemon you can catch based on gym badges you have. This prevents you from just luck catching a super high lvl Pokemon and just clearing everything so fast. Color sensitive people there is no option to change menu colors, just change your tv to black and white if this is an issue. Graphics of the are definitely cleaner than the Pokemon Lets GO games, I feel like more time could have been used to animate attacks better but thats only my small complaint and opinion. The music is ok not the best nor the worst ( I always will like GEN 1 & GEN 2 the best) Pokemon GYM battles are the best in these games and how they should be with fans cheering in the background and also making comments when you win your battles, it made me feel more in-grossed in the games. The difficulty of the games I would rate just slightly a tad notch above easy and only because I didn't look up the new Poke's typing.. the land mass is a lot bigger and I enjoyed the exploring. Menus were real easy to use and didn't feel clunky or to complicated. (If you ordered the double pack from Amazon they will send you an email code for your IN-Game Clothing Items which is basically a Gold-Backpack or Trunk. You must be a little ways through the game and have Mystery Gift unlocked and use the option for online code. That being said this game is not bad in the least, there is some things can be improved on but do not let the negative reviews get to you.

Easily the best Pokemon games ever.
My Wife and I have been having a blast playing and have had a very hard time putting the games down.
The new Pokemon are great, and the multiplayer is a lot of fun, whether you're raiding or camping, or just exploring the wild area together, there's a ton to do. The gym battles are great and extremely fun to watch on the TV, the crowds energy really gets you into the spirit of battling and it feels like a real event.
I'm extremely happy with these games, and any issues I've had with them are extremely minor in comparison to the experience I've had. If you can, go in without knowing what the new Pokemon are because you'll have a lot more fun discovering them for yourself.
A must have Switch game.

This game exceeded all of my expectations. The graphics, story, and overall gameplay were great. I had a great time exploring the galar region and loved exploring the wild area. I now spend my days trying to shiny breed and compete in online battles. Looking forward to the upcoming DLC expansion passes.
