If your mind focuses on graphics, this game is for you. Comparing the 5th generation game to X (or Y), the latter provides a major improvement in this aspect. The storyline, while lovely, overlaps with the new games (Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire). Nonetheless, it is fun and entertaining. Another major improvement is character customization. No game previous to X and Y allows the player to customize his/her character. Overall, great game. 10/10 would play again.

Pokemon X is a game built for just about everyone.
The premise is actually very, very simple. You can have up to 6 Pokemon (out of ~450 before you finish the game) with you at a time. Each Pokemon can only learn up to 4 Moves. Each Pokemon has it's own stats, abilities, and types. You use these Pokemon to beat up other Pokemon to gain experience and Level up, which makes your Pokemon stronger. Rinse and Repeat, beating 8 strong Gym leaders so that you can challenge the Elite 4 and Champion, which have amongst the most strong Pokemon in the game.
It's a little more complicated than that, story-wise, but the basic premise should be enough to tell you, that there's a lot of strategy here.
However, it is very easy. This isn't an experience to blaze through, because you WILL blaze through it if that's all you want to do, but that's not what you should do... unless you want to.
You see, Pokemon is best experienced slowly, allow yourself to become immersed with your environment, catch tons of new Pokemon to try out or collect, learn about the people and places and what makes them so deep, and above all, appreciate all other people in the game by embracing what's different about them.
The Game series as a whole has made a huge graphical leap. previously, the games were always portrayed with 2D sprites which made them dull and relatively uninteresting. With pokemon in 3D, they feel much more alive. This helps with immersion a lot, and gives a lot of pokemon a personality that might not have been apparent before. They also upped the customization by a metric load. You can customize your clothes and hair along a fairly-sized preset that makes you look awesome. Clothes mix well together and you are free to mix and match and your leisure.
If you think this game is easy... well, actually, it's not. It is, but it's not. To beat this game is easy, but to REALLY beat this game is hard, it's hard despite being given all the tools you need to succeed. It's really challenging. Once you beat the game, you unlock this facility in the game called the Battle Mansion. If you thought the game was easy before, try to win 20 times in a row in the Battle Mansion. It seems just as easy as before at first, but as you win the opponents will start using stronger Pokemon and movesets, along with using strategies and items you may have not even considered.
If you manage to get 20 wins, congratulations! That's not a small feat! However, after you manage to do it, a SUPER version of it will unlock, and the battles here will be hard from the get-go and only get harder. This mode goes on forever, See how far you can go!
This game has loads of information to remember. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. My best advice is to not be overwhelmed. Usually, if you see a Pokemon you are unfamiliar with, you can, after that battle, look up that pokemon in your pokedex, find the area it's located at, and catch it. By catching it, you will learn that Pokemon's type, and by looking more closely at it, the moves it knows and how they work.
The Game is kid friendly. However, Online interaction is best supervised. Kids should play with online chat turned off (It is off by default) and, when using the Wonder Trade Feature online, you should be there. This game has a profanity / Slang / offensive words filter, but it's not perfect. If the game is completely played offline, there is nothing to worry about.
The Game can be played in multiple languages besides English. If you are learning a new language, I can recommend playing this game in another language. You cannot conveniently change language during the story, you can only select it when you begin the game, so you should at least be able to read the Script of the language you're learning. For the Japanese language, you can play with just Kana, so you only need to learn the hiragana and Katakana to play and don't need to know any Kanji. You can also probably jump right on in to Spanish. There are many things that can be learned just listening to these characters speak. They all for the most part speak formally and grammatically correct.
I may not have covered everything. But theres a lot here for everyone. Hardcore gamers, Kids, Language Learners, you name it. As long as you have a 3DS or 2DS, you can play it.

Excellent playability, battles are great. It is way more fun playing wi-fi mode with friends, but the story will keep you for 40+ hours. For some reason I have the impression that Pokemon Y was a little more fun to play, but both are superb in terms of graphics and the 3D is stunning. A must have for DS owners, specially fans of the series.

This is one of the most advanced and developed Pokemon games to date. Customizable outfits, 2D and 3D landscapes, and hours and hours of story line and tangential play. Recommended for those that love the Pokemon series and like to keep up with the new Pokemon series.

This game is excellent.
The first thing to hit me about this game wasn't in fact the 3D, but the sound quality, it is excellent.
I hardly ever use the 3D, and I'm pleased to say that the 3D isn't imperative to the gameplay, it just gives battles (and some overworld areas) a sense of depth.
The only criticism I can give it is how the frame rate drops slightly when the 3D is turned on, but come on, that's surely expected.
I have been playing it non stop since I received it, I can't get enough.
The battle mechanics have been reworked a little, with some moves being buffed, such as Tackle from 35 power to 50, and others nerfed, like Fly from 95 power to 90. But most of the change is for the better.
Of course, the newest type addition of fairy is a little bit of a pain, as you have to learn the new type's resistances and weaknesses, but that's just being picky.
Of course, the Mega Evolution mechanic works very well with the game, if I was to divulge any information about this, it could be regarded as spoilers. All I can say is that, it is good.
If I was to rate it out of ten, I'd give it ten.

It seems that poekemon games are getting easier. It could be for people who have played previous ones but ive only played 3 other pokemon games other than this. The new 3D look is good but some of the areas are too small which makes the camera awkward and hard to see around. Other than that its a typical pokemon game.

I've been playing Pokémon since it first arrived, never missed a generation or game, and still play 20 years later. My boys are finally old enough to be introduced and after a full season of the show I started my eldest on this game. The Pokémon trade feature is smooth and since I have Y on my 3DS, we have been covering each others' Pokedex the entire way. This game is a blast and everyone who enjoys a long term game full of depth and challenge with a family-friendly presentation, look no further!

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are brand new editions to the mainline Pokemon games for the Nintendo 3DS, and they deliver and unprecedented experience that entries before it only dreamed of reaching. Though every Pokemon game has been special in some way, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are fantastic and timeless, with a great selection of new and old Pokemon alike, for fans of all ages, and an incredible world to explore. This is the best generation of Pokemon to come out in a very long time.

The 6th generation of Pokemon has relatively few additions to the number of new Pokemon, but it makes up for it in its streamlined gameplay and its enhanced visuals. It has a healthy dose of nostalgia for returning players, an easier learning curve for new players, and mega evolutions for the experts. All in all, a great addition to the franchise that has a little something for everyone.

I got this to celebrate the 20th Anniversary and prep for Sun/Moon coming out later this year. The last version I played was Ruby and X is a vast improvement and so so fun. The graphics are great, the battle system is more engaging, and I love how they updated the music.

I have been playing Pokemon since I was 4 on the original game it. (Ahh, those were the days) I found myself fatigued after nearly 20 years and especially after black and white 2. However, I couldn't resist the urge to buy the new 6th gen games. let me tell you, these games have restored my love for Pokemon all over again! Buy it, buy it now!!

Very entertaining and a great time sink. I've burned some 40 hours and still haven't completed the game. I do feel that the game balance is a little twitchy. It's either really hard or VERY EASY. There is very little middle ground with any facet of the game. Train too much and you steamroll everyone and train too little and you can't get in the door. But the graphics are great. The game is engaging and there is always something to do. Even if it's an hour of super training.

Aside from Pokemon Soul Silver and Pokemon X, I haven't played a Pokemon game since I was a kid. This one brought so many memories back, with so many cool updates! The graphics are great, and the option to design your character later in the game with hairstyles and new clothing is great, too. Might be playing this one a second time around.

One thing I like is that they seem to have stopped making a 3rd game like they did with the old Pokemon game. This makes it easier for you and a friend to play. Online capabilities makes it easier than ever to trade and battle. Gameplay and visuals are decent and new angles add more depth. Story is OK but new regions are great.
