Customers find value in the engaging gameplay and nostalgic elements of Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!, particularly enjoying the innovative Poké Ball Plus controller. Many appreciate the game's ease of use and consider it fun for players of all ages, although some find the price point a bit high and the Poké Ball Plus somewhat small. The simplified catching mechanics are a point of contention for some, while others wish for a more challenging experience. Overall, the game is praised for its charming remake of a classic, but opinions vary on certain aspects of the design and price.

Don't buy unless you want the pokeball for go

The game is great but it isn't worth it to buy both versions because of how easy it is to complete the pokedex. (took me 20 hours to beat the game and complete the dex without importing any pokemon from go)
I would not buy this bundle unless you really want the ball for pokemon go. It's amazing with it, I can catch pokemon without having to constantly stare at my screen or even pay much attention to it. I can even use it while doing my grocery shopping and other boring errands. As for its functionality with let's go, it's close to useless unless you're an incredibly young child because of how small it is. (it's about the size of a golf ball) and even then it's functionality is limited. (which might be useful depending on the child but for most people it's just annoying)

Relive Pokémon Yellow!

Relive Pokémon Yellow edition with Pikachu as your buddy following you around as you explore the Kanto region. The graphics are cute and fun, the game is adorable, the story is what you remember from the Game Boy version with a twist to fit contemporary Pokémon references.
Make sure to get the edition with the PokéBall as you can carry your Pokémon with you to gain experience points. This is crucial as you can't battle to catch Pokémon anymore.
The only negative side is how easy it is to acquire Pokémon.

Box came damaged and looked like it was already opened inside. Someone definitely tried to put it together with scotch tape. Can't even do an exchange because the item is sold out. Really disappointed. It's the one gift my son wanted for Christmas. Thanks a lot! Never ordering from you guys again!

Pokeball Plus is Great & Terrible

I’ve had a great time revisiting Kanto. This time my son played with me so it was a whole new experience in lots of ways.
The character art is wonderful. It’s a very tasteful example of how a 1D/2D game can be reimagined in three dimensions. A great example of this is how the 3D models are flattened during the beginning of battle sequences to resemble an HD version of what they were and then go back. Every little detail was added to objects too. They created thousands and thousands of 3D objects without tons of texture mapping and placed them exactly where they were in the original. I was wondering how it would come together in 3D 1080p and Gamefreak did not disappoint. It’s gorgeous.
Gameplay is also good. I really like how they stayed true to the format and didn’t make a lot of 3D cut scene animations that eat up time. Actions are short and sweet, controls and menus are extremely well done.
My first criticism would be the constantly repeating text for every little thing that happens. If a battle has level ups it can take a solid 3 minutes to scroll through the notifications. I hated this in the originals, and I can’t really understand why they went through the trouble of translating it to the new one. We all know what happens when you get paralyzed, you don’t need a dialogue that needs to be closed every single time.
My second criticism is how easy it is. I get that they are going for a younger audience, but the bosses were extraordinarily easy, you would have to bend over backwards to lose. On the flip side, my son can play with me and enjoy it without grinding, so on that front it is not all bad. If I was playing on my own I’d be pretty bored with the story mode. Every game needs epic bosses, not ones that are one hit kills with without grinding.
You no longer have to battle wild Pokémon! This. Is. Great. I always hated having a rare Pokémon within my grasp and then not having the right Pokémon equipped to take it down or not having enough pokeballs. The game gives you more pokeballs than you know what to do with. Just being able to throw and throw and throw is really a lot more fun and does add more dimension and strategy to the game.
Gameplay in handheld mode is unplayable. There are constant communication errors with the Joy-Cons this makes menus open constantly while you’re walking and will randomly take the controls away. This is the one thing that really needs to be fixed. You just can’t play like that.
Lastly the Pokeball Plus. Contrary to the reviews I read online before buying, I had no issues with throwing, either did my son, and he’s 5 years old. It actually works better than handheld motion control mode in terms of accuracy. I also really enjoy the interactivity. The ball will vibrate in sync with the ball. It also makes the click sound with haptic and light when you catch something and the Pokémon will make a noise as if something was caught in the ball along with the Pokémon color. When the ball is plugged in to charge it makes the pole enter healing sound, so cute. Build quality is great. Nothing breaks buttons and joystick are solid and do not become loose. And the ball didn’t mark up from my hands. They even made it weighted so when you set the ball don it rights itself. The device is so incredibly well excecuted, you can tell they spent a lot of engineering hours on it, which is suprising, because I thought for sure it would be a cheaper gimmick. This is coming from someone who usually hates motion controls. But there is one big caveat to this. The ball is TINY for adult hands. My son loves it because it’s perfectly sized for him. But me? My hands are so cramped after hours of playing. It is NOT comfortable. This really killed a lot of the fun. I hate hand cramps. I played through the entire game with the ball and let me tell you it was painful. I totally understand that this was designed with kids hands in mind. Buy adult buyers beware.
Overall, this was great fun. I’m just about done with the story, afterwhich I’ll probably say goodbye to Kanto forever. I applaud Game freak on a very fun, well made package.

The only Pokémon games I have played were Red and Blue when they first came out. It’s nice to see those games with updated graphics and music. I’ve been playing 2 player with my 5 year old and he loves using the pokeball controller. If the adult is player 1 you don’t need to wait for Player 2 to be with you to move and they will automatically catch up which is nice. It works well for teaching kids how to play. The mechanics combine simple Pokémon go gameplay with the original games so it is a nice introduction to the series. It is pretty easy, especially with 2 players but it have been a good experience so far

The game itself is cute and fun if you’re just looking to wind down from a long day. It plays on the nostalgia for people who grew up with Red/Blue. It’s not a copy and paste game with graphic upgrades, they added enough changes to the story and map to make it different. The Pokeball Plus that comes with it is a decent gimmick. The sound it makes and vibrations makes it feel like you’re actually holding one. It may not control the way you want it to sometimes if you choose to throw it for the catching mechanic. If you’re not using it for the Pokémon Go app, you may use it like a offbrand yo-yo thanks to the wrist strap and ring attached to it, which I find therapeutic in its own way.
As to whether to get this over the Eevee version depends on which Pokémon you want to play around it more.

I've had a lot of fun with the game so far despite being initially skeptical. Riding and journeying through Kanto (again) with the original 151 has been nostalgic and surprisingly exciting. I thought with this being only a partial game (no items, no wild battles, no wonder trades, etc) and being more Pokemon GO than a traditional Pokemon game, it was going to be a slog progressing through the story. Thus far it hasn't been. The only complaints I have mostly stem from the base game being $60 and Mew being locked behind another $50 paywall. Though I really do like the Poke Ball Plus. The bottom line I guess is that its worth buying, but wait till the price drops since you've probably already played this game once or twice before.

When buying the combo pack you get a special Pokemon. We were able to catch MEW in both Pikachu and Eevee. Surprised at how comfortable playing with just the Poke Ball is. You can not use the pro controller, which I find the Poke Ball is way more comfortable when playing hand held or on TV mode, and the ball works great. It's flawless. Otherwise the options are left controller, right controller, Poke Ball, or Hand held. There are so many great updates now to the game. You can save with out going to the center, you can send Pokemon to the professior with out having to go any where, you can change the layout of your Pokemon while playing with out having to go any where either. Its the best game ever now. So much easier. Love the old Pokemon music. The graphics are just beautiful. No update required out of the box, that is super nice for people who don't have internet or even have satellite internet. Highly recommended these games if your a huge Pokemon fan.

This is a fun Pokemon game regardless if it is a remake of Yellow. I am not a hardcore Pokemon fan but I have played other games on the DS and play Pokemon GO. Many of the other games got boring to me because I kept having to fight random Pokemon and it was just so time consuming. I do not want to grind in games to collect all the characters. My time is precious having a family so I like that this version has the Pokemon on screen and I can choose who and what I want to capture. It runs very smooth and the graphics looked good to me especially when I can play on my TV not just a miniature screen. The Pokeball accessory is a little gimmicky and small in my big hands, but I like it and makes me feel like I am capturing Pokemon. I will keep using it and find this game is great if you just want to sit back and enjoy a game for a little bit. Also the Pokeball unlocks Mew for you which helps complete the pokedex.

Good Game for Pokemon Fans and Young Players

I am a Pokemon fan who has played all previous Pokemon games. This game is fun, and it has lots of features that separate it from previous games. For example, every pokemon in the game can get out of its pokeball and follow the player around, or if the pokemon is big enough, the player will ride on top of the pokemon. Another change is the wild pokemon capture method. If you walk in tall grass or other areas where Pokemon would show up in other games, you will see them appear in the world before you enter the encounter. If you touch the pokemon you see, then you'll enter a Pokemon GO style catching minigame where you have to physically swing your joycon controller toward the screen. If you have the Pokeball Plus controller that is sometimes bundled with this game, you can use that controller. The Pro Controller is not supported. If you play in handheld mode, meaning the joycons are attached to the console and you're holding it to look at the screen of the console, then you will have to move the console to center yourself on a pokemon and use a button to throw the pokeball.
Overall, the game is very similar to the old Pokemon Red and Blue games in terms of mechanics beyond what I've mentioned above, along with some other changes.
* NOTE: Your starting pokemon will never evolve. So if you pick the Pikachu version of the game, you cannot get Raichu unless you capture a different Pikachu and evolve that. If you get the Eevee version of the game, your starting Eevee will not evolve at all. You must obtain an Eevee other than your starter if you want to evolve one.

It may not be the 8th gen we are looking for but it's a good way to see how Pokemon yellow has evolved into something more as a family friendly game for every one. For some it will be nostoligic and for others it maybe something new and inviting to the Pokemon world. Over all game play is simple and easy and some times can be challenging, wether it comes down to catching Pokemon or simply battling it's a fun experience. With the Pokeball plus makes the game more exciting and interesting. You can transfer your Pokemon to the Pokeball and go for strolls and assist you with Pokemon go for catching pokemon and finding pokestops. That being said, you can also level up your Pokemon by just carrying them in the Pokeball which is easy and a fun New way to level them up, and get items and candy as well.

Game and Poke Ball Bundle Well Worth The Price

I saw the Poke Ball Plus advertised months ago when they announced the new games. It is so worth it to get this bundle! The game is fun and challenging and having a real poke ball in your hand to control and interact with the game is so cool. The added bonus of the poke ball connecting to Poekmon Go on your mobile device gives another dimension to the game. I think one of the neatest features is the ability to take one of your pokemon for a walk. Download it to the ball and you can shake it to hear the pokemon make noises and you earn experience for the time in the ball and the distance walked with the ball. Great way to level up your pokemon.

I'm a first time pokemon player, and this game is wonderful! It's fairly simple, and you can cruise through most things, but something about the game and it's quality, that keeps making me want to play. The poke ball is great. If you play pokemon go, it doubles as a companion to the phone game that you can trek with. You can even put "inside" a pokemon from the game. The one caveat is that it does take a moment to adjust to holding the ball as a controller. And maybe because my hands are bigger, it may be a little difficult to find your grip.

I’ve been enjoying this Pokémon game a lot. Pokémon yellow was my first Pokémon game and one of my favorites so this being a remake of it is great for me. I personally don’t mind not battling wild Pokémon constantly and love that the wild Pokémon walk around and can be avoided. Poke ball plus isn’t a must have but is fun to use occasionally. I have no complaints about the game and recommend it to Pokémon fans. Some things are a change of pace from the standard Pokémon formula but it’s still a fun entry for fans of the series.

Poke Ball Plus adds New Dimensions to Games

The game itself is great as it is basically an updated version to the original gameboy games. Some of the characters even say the same thing as they did in the original game. It also updated features that weren't great in the original games to make gameplay more enjoyable. As a player of this game and Pokemon Go, developers did a great job in creating the Poke Ball Plus as it integrates features of both games. While I wish the Poke Ball was a full on controller like the Joy-cons, it adds a different dimension to both games.

Purchased this game for my son's bday thinking it would be great fun for him to use the pokeball to catch pokemon. Well not only was I right on that, but it has become the best co op experience we have had yet. Being that he's not too spun up on reading yet I primarily walk our characters around to get information from town folk and buy supplies. However, in between that we have plenty of fun catching pokemon and battling trainers. Great time for the both of us.
