While the 3D and graphics look fantastic, this is by far the worst Mystery Dungeon game. At first, you're stuck in a village and have to attend school. Eventually you start taking on rescue missions, but you haven't become a exploration team yet. It takes half of the game (about 10 hours) to move on the next town and join the guild, and by then, the game is mostly over. The story starts slow (as you're stuck going to school in that village), but when you get to the guild, it starts to get interesting. However, it's way too short, and, as a result, has no time to develop. The plot twists are okay, but, as the story is short, they don't affect you as much as they would have if you'd had more time to connect with the characters.
Unlike previous games, to do missions in certain dungeons, you have to travel to the continent where that dungeon is. Each continent looks almost exactly the same, and it's annoying to have to travel to each of them.
After you reach the guild, the missions ramp up in difficulty, and take you to the most difficult sections of the game way before you're ready. You don't have to do these missions, but the way the game gives you rescue missions means you'll have to do them eventually where in previous Mystery Dungeon games the missions are randomly generated. In some cases, the only missions you'll have available are the ones you won't be prepared for, even if you have team members who are high leveled which leads me to another thing I dislike about the game.
Whenever you complete missions, you get a new team member, usually the one who requested the mission. The Pokémon you get are varied in level and many are a higher level than you. There was many a time when I had to make my team nothing but level 50 Pokémon, and I still wouldn't be able to complete the mission. This is very frustrating as I would attempt one mission multiple times with varying teams and continuously fail. Every member receives experience even if they are not a part of the team that completes the mission, but the annoying thing about this is that whenever they level up and learn a new move, that new move is automatically learned and replaces another move. This is often annoying as you have no way to protect a move from being deleted and replaced with a dumb one. Thankfully, you can remember moves for free, but it is really annoying to have to check through everyone's moves (at least for the Pokémon that you're going to take with you) and decide which moves to remember.
All in all, the story was okay, but short, and the graphics are fantastic, but this is the worst Mystery Dungeon game out of the bunch. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 1 and Explorers of Sky (Time and Darkness are acceptable too although Sky is the best version) are the ones you should play.

A New Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Adventure!

As a veteran of this spin-off series, starting all the way back with Red Rescue team, story is only one of the reasons to enjoy this game. While in other games you recruited Pokemon friends on mission to join your team in-dungeon but a new mechanic makes it easier to play as your favorite Pokemon, making it a vast improvement over the difficult aspect of doing this in past releases. This dungeon crawler requires forethought, strategy, and of course a little knowledge of Pokemon types. I didn't care for the school setting but the plot improves form there! Includes all Pokemon as of Generation 6.

This has got to be the best Pokemon mystery dungeon to date. The story was very heart grabbing and you will make so many allies, it's fun to mix and match different Pokemon to your team. From what I gather the entire Pokemon roster up until gen 6 is in this game. My only complaint, is that sometimes.certain recruited Pokemon can be unvailable for some time for missions so you have to play a few missions without them and then they are available. It's especially frustrating when there are Pokemon they are available for only one mission, and then not available for along time. But with that nitpick aside, the story was very compelling and I recommend this game to anyone

I've played a few mystery dungeon games including shiren for Ds, Pokemon gti for 3ds as well as etrian mystery and this is my favorite by far. Its true what everybody says about the beginning and how you have to earn your stripes so to say, but its worth it. Plus all Pokemon ever are included! Wonderful.

This game takes the best features out of the previous games of this series and revised the not-so-good features to make it better. The story is quite good and if you've never played a mystery dungeon game before, then this game is a great place to start.

Intro
The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series is well known for its rogue-like style play and its inclusion of our lovable, super-powered friends, and allowing us to play as them. It was a staple installment in the Pokemon franchise, surprising fans back in 2005. I for one can say that when Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon was announced, though, I wasn't too excited. I had played through Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, with nothing but disappointment, and was scared it would happen again.
Boy, was I wrong.
Gameplay
The iconic gameplay style of the older PMD games remains intact, relying on use of your D-Pad, Circle Pad, and R button to move, and the use of the L+A/B/X/Y buttons for using your Pokemon's Moves, brought in from GtI. The recruiting system, while flawed in my own opinion, was completely redone, now requiring you to complete missions for/talk to/connect with other Pokemon in order to add them to your team, making it much easier to recruit new Pokemon to your team, rather that having to farm Pokemon for hours to get that one special team member. (I'm looking at you, Mew, in Red Rescue Team >.>)
Story
The story, while short, was a wonderful experience, As with all Pokemon games, you play as a human who has been turned into a Pokemon, but you have no clue why, and choose to team up with the starter Pokemon of your choice for fantastic adventures. Now, you'd think that'd get old with each new installment, but no, no. Nintendo works wonders, giving a new scenario as to what's going on.
Graphics
The graphics are on par with Gates to Infinity, if not a little better. The animations are very smooth and fluid, showing off that the 3DS can handle something good in mean of graphics. Sadly, if you're planning on playing in 3D the whole time, prepare to be disappointed with the ground textures. Otherwise, the textures are smooth and stay true to the PMD style.
Sound
I cannot praise this game enough for the music. The soundtrack the this game is georgeous, with appropriate tracks to fit each setting. You won't be disappointed either, after unlocking the ability to listen to the game's music via the Jukebox. While listening to the Jukebox, be prepared for the most feels you've had since Red Rescue Team, because as with most games, there's bound to be that one song in there that melts your heart with the fond memories of your Gameboy Advance or Nintendo DS.
Play Time/Replay Value
Now, I love these games, but I've never really quite felt there's much replay value in them. As much as I feel this way, though, I can't help but disagree with my feelings this time. This game has so many combinations of Heroes and Partners, it's almost wrong to not replay it. Besides, the 30+ hours of main story time alone will be enough for you to say "Alright, let's try it this way." Trust me when I say you'll want to.
Final Thoughts/Recommendations
I can't say this enough when I say that this game is definitely a game for all kinds of Pokemon fans. Returning players will definitely enjoy the subtleties scattered through the game, and new player will easily grasp the main concept of the game, possibly drawing them into the older games. This game is definitely a must-have for any Pokemon Mystery Dungeon fan, no matter how good they are at playing the games.
Personal Thoughts
Now, I must say that I loved this game, and even though it's not perfect, I'd give it a 9.8/10. I laughed, I cried, and I raged so bad I almost hit my friends for making snarky comments when something bad happened. It was such a fun experience to play through a game that touched upon my childhood, and I seriously think that any player, old or new, would enjoy it as a whole. I would definitely suggest at least trying it out.

After Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, it seemed like Mystery Dungeon could not be successful on the Nintendo 3DS. Then Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon comes along and brings to the 3DS more of what made the previous Mystery Dungeon games successful. A fantastic story and more species of Pokemon and merges it with the new 3D style of Gates to Infinity.

When the game first came out I wasn't too keen on the game because of how gate to infinity was , but I have it a go since I really like the Pokemon series and to my amaze it was a good game. I do think this is a good game for other to pick up and get into the Pokemon series however I still think mystery dungeon explorer of sky was the best.

Out of all the Pokemon mystery dungeon series, this had the best original story ever. Had some laughs, surprises, and more with me loving every single part of it. Recommend this to everyone who like strategy games with great storyline. However, I do say take your time. Can actually beat quickly if your great at this type of game

This game is fun for kids and adults. Bought for my nephew because I have played it and enjoyed. Its not too easy but also not so difficult that a 7 year old can enjoy it. Asked him how he liked it and he didnt respond because he was too busy playing it. Hes entranced.
