I can't in good faith rate this higher. This game is incredibly fun. Game Freak nailed open-world Pokemon on their first try.
BUT... This game is plagued by severe technical issues which are inexcusable for a franchise as big as Pokemon. Frame rate drops are common, if not the norm in some areas, and graphical glitches aren't hard to find. Not to mention the occasional crash.
If they fixed all the bugs, it would easily be the best game yet.

I’ve been playing Pokémon since Red/Blue as a kid. I’ve played all of them except for Sun/moon. I always enjoy them. If you’ve played a pokemon game you know what you’re going to get. It’s nothing substantial new but there are some improvements and the story is good. I think it’s as good as sword and shield. My favorite was silver/gold because of getting to play both maps.

Bought this from Best Buy a while ago, great servuce as always. This entry has a lot of cool additions like terra types, picnics, and the new additions to the staggering amount pokemon. However, the technical issues and glitches (even to this day) cannot be ignored. You'll still enjoy this if you've played pokemon before, but there is a definate dip in quality compared to previous games.

This game is great and well worth getting. The only reason its not 5 stars is the glitches and issues in the game. Raid problems online are constant. Game software randomly closes. Evolution issues of pokemon not evolving when they are suppose too. Character or npc getting stuck in mountains or other environment. When the game is working its a blast. Alot to do. This is the lungest I have ever played a pokemon game and I love the new style.

Fantastic pokemon game! It does have quite a few bugs that some people may feel is game breaking or ruins the immersion. I didn't come across too many of these in my 1000+ hrs in the game.

The story is a refeshing change from previous generations and you can explore the open areas for hours on end. However, the game is incredibly glitchy, especially in raids, and often crashes. It can be quite frustrating and offen causes me to simply stop playing.

Its a fun game, as most other Pokemon games are. Unfortunately, this one has some pretty noticable perfomance issues, such as the camera being stuck underground during certain moments like encounters. It also has a lot of frame rate issues, which make the game look like a stop motion video. That said, it's still recommended and enjoyable. A lot of freedom and things to do.

At this point in time, the game has too many glitches and bugs that it makes it really difficult to enjoy at times. The story arch has potential to be great, but is hard to navigate with the software glitches. Open world concept is neat at times, but needs an update from Nintendo to clean up some of the issues.

Its really fun! I heard it's glitchy, but I've yet to experience any. The story is very different and cute. I think the open world is interesting, but I don't think there's enough to do. There's a LOT of Pokemon roaming, which is realistic mostly, but can get really cumbersome when there's hoards EVERYWHERE and you're trying to get across a road. I like it overall!

Like all the other reviews for this game have said, currently the Nintendo Switch is BARELY able to handle this game,as such there are very noticeable performance issues that happen throughout the entirety of the game,it is however a great installment for the series.Best Buy shipped it quick and arrived on release day.5 stars for best buy,4 stars for Game Freak.

Been a pokemon fan since the days of red and blue versions and can say without a shadow of a doubt that the series has came a long way. From having a legitimate open world to run around to all the new additions to the gage solid 4 stars.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet show that Game Freak is truly trying to grow and evolve the Pokemon Formula. Learning from the baby steps that Sword and Shield’s Wild Area and DLC, as well as 2022’s Pokemon Legends Arceus, show that Open World Pokemon has a formula that can work. That means you can tackle any of the games challenges in any order that you desire. Combine this with a solid story, great Pokemon designs, and you get an incredibly fun and solid game…. until the performance issues arise. From low frame rate to stuttering to issues with pokemon models, this game easily needed upwards of an extra year to sort out performance issues. With that in mind, if you like Pokemon, you’ll find something to like in Scarlet and Violet, unless the performance issues yoverwhelm you first.

Wow, such an amazing game play it with my kid
Such a good game once you get the hang of it you don’t wanna stop playing after your first couple of battles you just wanna keep on upgrading your Pokémon and that’s another thing so many great Pokémon all the new additions running around trying to find Poké balls and diamonds to finding people on the road while you’re trying to do missions it’s just real cool

Love the open world concept that they had from Arceus, and even more so more freedom in how the story rolls out. You're free to go anywhere in the game from the get go. Hoping they continue this trend maybe up the difficulty.

To be honest, it’s a decent game that is saved by the pokemon, some new mechanics, the open world, and the story. What’s sad is that all of this is completely overshadowed by the horrible performance. Frame rate drops (and overall lack thereof), terrible rendering, and so many weird glitches. The primary way you interact with a game is visuals and how things render while playing. This contributes to the immersion of the game. This game is nothing but constantly removing you from that game due how poorly it performs and looks. I mean the edges of everything in the game are rough. Things appear in each other and unless youre right next to someone they move at 5 fps. This game was not ready for release and makes me honestly furious. It feels like the publishers cared more about holiday sales than they did for their customers and developers. This game needs more time to be patched and fixed. Do not buy it right now.

Despite the bugs, Pokemon has shown a return to form, while also evolving on several concepts and experiments from past iterations. With a completely open world, and updated mechanics, Pokemon has shown that it doesn't need to be the same game every year, and they CAN adapt, while also maintaining the age old mainstays that make the series fun.

This game has some issues with performance but I highly recommend this if you are even the least bit interested in Pokemon. This has got to be one of the most innovative and fun Pokemon game in recent times. The formula in this is the first for Pokemon games.

Despite the criticisms for this game's performance and bug issues, the heart of it still shines. I personally have only ran into one bug in my 35 hours of playing. Frame drops do plague the game in certain areas, especially a lake area of the game, but all of this can be looked over while having a great time.
