Like the face that launched a thousand ships this Speilberg backed serio comic thriller gave horror films the suspencefull tweak they needed. Its spawned many imitators but this simple little scary masterpiece rocks With a strong cast of talented men and woman led by Craig T Nelson and JoBeth Williams we are huddled close to our partner and on pins and needles while poor little carol ann converses with the people who inhabit the snowwy white screen that us gen xers remember concluded our broadcast day DONT GO INTO THE LIGHT CAROL ANN do not go into the light whatever you do What the hell were they thinking building condos on an indian burial ground they had to know it was not going to end well. A classic from the 80s that still holds up, a must see!

A Christmas gift for a friend. A good movie for collectors.

In order to not sound like a broken record by talking about how good this movie is, I am going to talk about the quality of the packaging and picture. The box art is brilliantly using the iconic promotional material to set the chilling mood on the front and the spine. It also maintains usage the sy nonomons font on the cover and spine. The picture quality of the restoration is great outside of a few scenes that would need to be completely reanimated in order to counteract the dated special effects. Overall, this is a lovely presentation of a classic haunting. I would give this edition 4.5/5.

The Blu-ray quality is okay for this transfer. I am waiting for a possible 4k remaster that will probably look excellent. I bought it Bc it’s a fantastic horror film that looks good-okay for a great value deal

I'v heard many things about this movie, however I didn't find it all that enjoyable. It's not a bad movie, I just expected more of a fright to it.

Poltergeist is an 80's classic. Despite being on Rated PG(this is pre-PG13) it is pretty freaky and graphic. AV is pretty decent, but zero extras except some irrelevant paranormal crap.

Nothing like this original, classic horror movie...!!! One of my favorites all time, I've seen this movie so many times and I finally own it and I'm so glad I found it in this restored BlueRay edition. This first statement of the Poltergeist movies (1982, not the recent remake which is a disaster) is in my opinion the best movie of the series, is a great addition for this Haloween season...!!!

Poltergeist is about as mainstream as horror films get (or at least it was for its time) due to its family-friendly themes, storytelling and rating but it still stands on its own all the same and makes for a colorful horror yarn. The blu-ray release here does the film justice with the transfer and, overall, this is recommend most highly for a Halloween or horror-themed family movie night.

Owned this on VHS as well as standard DVD, so it made perfect to upgrade to the Blu-ray version while it was on a store sale. I've enjoyed this movie since originally watching it on the 'big screen' so it's great to have it in a version that offers the best duplication . . and the best version when loaning to others. Thanks, Best Buy, for the opportunity. "They're heeeeere!!"

The classic. The 2nd and 3rd movie in this series were totally lacking the quality of the original. Back in the 80s, this was the cutting edge of special effects. Definitely a worthy addition to the disc library.

The original 1982 classic "They're Here". As an avid horror collector I already owned the dvd of Poltergeist, but since the trailer of the remake is out I felt it was finally time to upgrade. The Audio and Picture quality is great compared to the DVD. I only took 1 star off for the special features, they are the same as the DVD. I was hoping for a making of or a new commentary.

This is the best the movie has been presented in video and sound. My main gripe, for such a classic horror movie, is the lack of extras. The only extra is a documentary on real life poltergeists. Nothing from the cast, producers, director. Sadly, this is a Warner Bros Blu-ray problem. They've been skimpy on extras since the beginning of DVDs. They eventually do collector's editions of movies. Just said that this classic horror movie has yet to get that treatment.

Nearly 40 years after this film debuted, it’s still scary. The idea that a child could be pulled into a world between life and death through the family television was a great idea. The writing was excellent.

Watched this on my Portable Blu-Ray player on my Dell, after finding software for playing Blu-Ray movies on Windows 11. This is a really good movie, but you need to be prepared to be really spooked.

A must have for any fan of 80's horror. This collaboration was during the stretch of Spielberg produced films helmed by celebrated horror directors that included Gremlins as well. The Bluray treatment serves the film well. Little details pop more than ever and the visual effects still hold up.

While I was in the store and looking at their DVD's I ran across this movie. I, for some reason, have always like this movie and since they had it in Blu-ray and a decent price I got it.

This is a classic, a quintessential horror film, without poltergeist there is no conjuring. Steven Spielberg at his best. The video quality on this bluray is not very good, either is the sound quality, also there is no home menu screen or very many special features otherwise this would be 5 stars.
