My daughter really enjoys playing this game. She likes the experience of designing your own avatar and world. It gives you the opportunity to craft and go into multiple places to save your planet. It also allows you to use some strategy as well in crafting and attacking. You can also build whatever you want with what you have. The game lets you be creative.

Minecraft with RPG elements

Great game if you love minecraft but need a little bit of a story to go with it. Portal Knights has you moving from several different biomes fighting bosses, plundering dungeons and all the RPG elements in between. You craft items for your character and can choose from three classic hero types: mage, fighter and archer. On top of all of that it is a sandbox game. You mine different resources and build things just like minecraft. Good game for kids.

Minecraft with more rpg elements

Pretty fun minecraft like game with more rpg like elements. The worlds are huge with a lot of planets to explore. To me minecraft is boring but this one is a little more fun somehow. Cool toony artwork style but the game seems kind of generic. The enemies seem generic too but it seems like you can build vast worlds so it makes up for it. The price is what makes it a good deal, I wouldn't pay $60 for it but $30 is not bad. There are islands floating in space and you can build huge land bridges to connect them all. It has a lot of potential but it requires a lot of time

Highly recommended. I am not usually into these types of games. I never got into Minecraft for sample. This is an exceptiono to that, it is an excellent game and high in value in relation to cost. I think anyone who wants 30 to 40 hours of multiplayer action will enjoy this very much.

It is Minecraft for switch, just better graphics. I enjoy playing split screen local games. It's so fun working together crafting, taking out monsters, completing missions, building a home base....

If you enjoy Minecraft and Dragon Quest Builders then you will find this to be fun. Like the two mentioned this is another block builder game with some rpg elements thrown in. The only issue I have is with the random biome generator. Minecraft and Dragon Quest Builders both create wonderful worlds to roam around in. Portal Knights can be a little chaotic and doesn't feel like more than random blocks placed together. You collect materials from breaking blocks and fighting monsters. You also gain exp from every activity in the game. What this does do better than minecraft is when you create your work stations they look like functional objects with more detailed geometry.

Fun Game to Play

This is a great Minecraft type fun game. The RPG aspect is a nice touch, but could use more diversity to it. And it does get pretty repetitive after many hours playing. My biggest gripe (and hence the 4 stars) is that (on the Switch, at least) I absolutely dread traveling because it takes so long. Especially with multiple players. (Not local.) If it were all one continuous world, it would be perfect. Still, great fun for what it is and it's easy to recommend given the dearth of multiplayer co-op games out there.

Worked fine, was easy to start and fun to play. Does remind one of Minecraft, which is totally ok, considering my child love for that game.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the game for the price. I actually purchased this because I’m a last minute shopper and they ran out of the game my son really wanted. I bought this so he’d have something to open on Christmas but I had every intention on returning the 2 games I bought him for the one he wanted. I was even more surprised when he told me he wanted to keep the game.

I love this game!! It is one of my favorite this year. I bring my switch everywhere with me and play. I have already built a nice house with lots of marble titles. Lots of fun. Similar to D & D. The best part is I got this game on sale. I literally play this almost everyday and I don't get tired because there is so many things to do, level up, kill, quests and etc. Totally recommend!! :)

Portal Knights isn’t quite as deep or massive as those games mentioned in the title but it is far more user friendly for beginners. The presentation is cleaner than other similar games I’ve played and perhaps a bit more streamlined in most ways.
I’ve been playing Coop with my 5 year old and aside from some difficulty remembering the controls she is having a great time.

It's a decent game. It has a mix of minecraft and dragon quest. The graphics are good, game controls are good as well. My only problem is with the lay out of the worlds throughout the game. Sometimes is a pain in the butt to get around. I recomend to try out the demo in the nintendo E-shop before making a final purchase.

Similar to Minecraft but with more then enough originality to stand out as a fun co-op experience. The controls/menus are all easy to pick up and the core game play is fun. The art style and music should have been much better for a game that wants you to sink so many hours into it. All in all a fun couch co-op game that makes a good alternative to Minecraft.

If you're already a fan of games like Minecraft, you will most likely appreciate this game even more.
There's an actual plot, and it even has local multiplayer, which adds value to the game even more.
Overall, good game, and highly recommend for those interested in a fairly open world type game, and if you're a Minecraft fan, definitely consider this.

I saw this game on sale in store on Thanksgivings and wasn’t sure that my eight years old boy would like it or not but I bought it anyway. It turned out he likes it a lot because it delivers hours of fun without too much of violence like some adults or other teen games. I would recommend this game for kids under 10 years old and of course, parents and older siblings can join in for fun too.
