    Great Adventure Game

If you are a fan of adventure games or choose your own adventure novels, then this game is right up your alley. Most of the gameplay is made up of choices in how to react to situations or people, both through dialogue and physical reactions. The game plays out differently based on a number of choices you make. Some characters will live and die based on your choices. the only con I can think of is that early on the game leans way too heavy into jump scares. That aside it is a fun story with a lot of replay.

This was a blind buy for me. It caught my eye in the store and I had not really read anything on it before. I was surprised how well the story was done and I rather enjoyed going through it. The replay value is relatively low though. Once you figure out that your choices only affect the story to a small degree (who lives and dies, the story pretty much stays the same regardless) it makes another play through just seem tedious. Still if you get a chance to play this, either by renting it or finding it cheap somewhere, it is worth playing through once. The graphics, story, sound, and controls are all excellent.

My girlfriend and I picked this up to play together and we both loved it. The story was fun and the butterfly effect was fun to think about what decisions changed the various outcomes. We are working through our second playthrough right now. In terms of scariness, I was startled by the massive amount of jump scares, but she was freaking out the whole time =P Check it out, you won't be disappointed, especially if you are a fan of any of the Telltale games or if you loved Heavy Rain.

I'm so glad I decided to purchase this. I love horror games, but it has felt like most of them these days try to be so serious. It's perfectly fine that way, as I enjoy a lot of them. Still, it's nice to see a game of this genre reminding us of the more cheesy teen slashers from the 70's & 80's. So many classic tropes are here while still being able to have some genuinely scary moments. Good story, nice graphics, gameplay is easy to get used to and it's just an overall enjoyable experience.

If you ever played Heavy Rain, you will be familiar with this kind of game. It's more an exploratory game with Quick Time Events and Quick Decision Events that change the course of the story (firmly planted in the realm of a slasher-type movie) until the end. Your actions change who lives or dies, and the story continues on, even if the character you control dies at the end of the scene. It's a pretty fun playthrough, definitely for adults (strong language and violence, some mature situations), but I fear I will tire of it quickly. But this is definitely an experience you should try.

I scare easy. Not gonna lie. Games like Alien, Resident Evil, and Alan Wake tend to leave me hating but loving it. As an interactive horror game, this game has it all. Cheesy, campy horror flick with outstanding gaming visuals with a little gore added in. It draws you in and will make you curse and jump. I recommend this for a quick, thrilling game as a change of pace. This game has a lot of replay value but it shouldn't take more than 9 hours to complete for each story.

Great game with a lot of replayability. Bottom line here is that you can play this game over and over and take different paths to different outcomes for the characters. Great game and totally worth the price. If you love horror games this is an easy game to pickup and get going with. Not much of the normal shooting that is usually associated with horror these days, this plays more like a movie and is also great to watch if you have others around.

This is a must have for any horror/slasher movie fan, the life like graphics & creepy atmosphere stand out as one of the ps4's best looking games so far. It's like you are controlling a horror movie that's based on eight friends on a secluded mountain retreat. Making choices that could result in many different scenarios, to decide their fate. So without any spoiler's... Turn out the lights, get ready for some jump scares and try to keep everyone alive Until Dawn

Until Dawn received some high praise upon release- but, it still seems criminally out of people's game libraries. I'm hoping to rectify that by giving it the highest praise I can give. Quite simply, (even in a year with COD, MGS5, etc on the books) it's my personal game of the year. With added horsepower of PS4, upgraded graphics and bigger lands to explore are to be expected. Until Dawn proves that all that extra under the PS4s hood can be used for better storytelling, and, by proxy, better (and more) consequences to your decisions. UD's biggest selling points are in two areas- realistic rendering of actual actors (on par with Quantic Dream, who most recently is responsible for the great Beyond Two Souls) and reactions to choices made hours earlier. A group of young friends gather at an old skiing lodge on the anniversary of their friends' (2 sisters) deaths. Things quickly unravel as the group is picked off one by one... Or attempted to be slain- all based on your decisions... In a "Saw" like fashion. With a murderer on the loose, they may not see the real terror on the mountaintops. UD doesn't offer the action of a COD or freedom to roam like GTA- it has a story to tell, but within that story there are thousands of choices & repercussions to make and to face. Very few story-driven games make you realize that whatever may happen to you, it's due to the decisions you made along the way. This is the area where games have room to innovate- adding more enemies on a screen or more square footage to a land is simply a given by-product- and the makers of UD came out swinging. And while it's like playing a great horror movie, it must be remembered that it IS horror- blood will be spilled, with much more realism. Not a game for the youngsters!

I did not know much about this game before I bought it aside that it's a story driven game that allows you to chose how the story unfold. This had me sold. After playing and finishing the game, I found myself amazed at how much it reminded me of different 90's horror films that I enjoy and grew up with. I would say give this game a chance if you are a fan of horror movies, or if you just want a good game to play where you can control how the story will end.

Wonderful graphics and a nice twist to the horror genre. I was not a fan of the playability staying in a cinema style view, but you adapt as the game goes on. I wish there was a run function, but there’s only a walk faster function. Other than that you can replay it multiple times, find away to play better and even keep everyone alive. I would love for there to be a part two with a few improvement, but it’s a solid entry. O

What can I say about this game? It is simply incredible. It literally is like playing a cheesy 80's B horror movie on your PS4. It never takes itself seriously when it shouldn't and it is even funny and comforting in some ways. The controls are unique without being broken, the graphic are lifelike without being creepy, and the voice acting is on point. This really is the definition of a cult classic gem and I can only hope everyone can pick this game up.

I am about 6 hours into this game, and I cannot believe the twists and turns it's been taking me on. The storyline grabs you and brings you in to the terror and anxiousness of the characters you're playing. The graphics have seriously got to be the best I've ever seen on any game, its like controlling a movie. I hope more games in this genre are made, first person shooters and RPGs can get kind of repetitive. I am enjoying this game immensely. 5 stars!

A unique take on the horror genre which is always compelling, legitimately scary, extremely well acted. With branching paths, decision trees, and multiple endings, this one is worth several playthroughs and gives you a ton of bang for your gaming buck. Note to Telltale and David Cage: this is how you make a story based adventure. Can't wait for the sequel!

    Have you ever Played Obscure?

As long as I can remember I have always been a fan of the survival horror genre. Whether it was magnum headshots to zombies or running for your life in a clock tower, the horror genre has always been my cup of tea. I remember the first attempt at an interactive drama survival horror adventure video game. With Obscure which if you look at it, Until Dawn is kinda the spiritual successor to Obscure and its sequel. Or if you want to be literal about it an expansion on the concept of interactive survival horror, both use the basic horror movie dynamic along with the questionable cheesy horror movie dialogue. Which for horror buffs is one of the selling points of the games, that and the ability to learn from your mistakes without having to be the final girl or having to relive the horrors again through a rehashed sequel. With the advancement in motion capture and processing capabilities for this generation of game consoles, the player gets a smoother level of game transition without the horrors of lag due to loading time and frame rate per second processing. All and all Until Dawn is taking the interactive survival horror in the right direction. It’s build itself upon the foundation that games like Obscure, Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain, and the more current The Walking Dead games. And created its own standalone foray into the interactive survival horror genre. Although it’s not perfect it’s still a rather enjoyable game and homage to the classic slasher horror movie genre, that allows you the opportunity to play out the classic what if this character had done or hadn’t done this scenario. Giving the player something the characters in your classic horror movie genre’s never had.

Until Dawn is amazing. It takes the aspects from cheesy horror movies and makes it into something amazing. It's like a movie where you make decisions and determine who lives and who dies. The voice acting and animations are great and the graphics are really good for any console I've seen. This is easily one of my favorite PS4 games and for anyone who likes story based games and horror games, Until Dawn is a great pick.

A Brilliant Horror Adventure (no spoliers)

Until Dawn is an interactive, story based horror adventure game. The narrative is well written and is inspired by the 80's and 90's "slasher" horror films (Friday the 13th, Halloween, Saw) as well as supernatural horror. From the beginning, the characters and the setting are intentionally stereotypical: A group of upper/middle class teenagers in an isolated region of the country side. Even the character archetypes are all reminiscent of the typical horror flicks that are released around October: The jock, the clown, the arrogant cheerleader, the attractive 'nerdy' girl, the token minority, etc.. The setting for the story is designed in such a way to induce a constant feeling of isolation in the player. Add to this the excellent ambient sound quality plus the top-notch graphics (even by the standards of a PC gamer), and you have for yourself one atmospheric and engaging adventure game. UD is simply much more than "just another interactive movie." This is because the optional element of exploration not only fleshes out the details of the main story, but can potentially change its course with regards to death/survival of each character. Simply put, the more one explores the various dark and eerie areas, the more he/she will feel rewarded. Another aspect of the game is the knowledge that even the smallest decisions can have drastic consequences. I will not go into too much detail regarding this "Butterfly Effect" for the sake of keeping the review as spoiler-free as possible. Suffice to say, it is intended to make the player ponder his/her every move and adds replayability to the game.

This is a horror game staring Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) and Hayden Panettiere (cheerleader from Heroes) plus additional actors you may recognize as well (without spoiling anything). Story is really good and may warranty multiple playthroughs. It's also pretty scary at times. Great to play with friends because you can fight over decisions or get scared together, lol.
