The visuals are awesome especially on a HD plasma. The missions are interesting in the campaign mode and the enemies offer varied attacks. I was a little bummed that online portion of the game didn't included the traditional deathmatches, team deathmatches, etc.... Instead, it has online racing that I found I could take or leave. The online co-op missions looked fun, but I haven't tried them out yet.

I was thoroughly stoked to try this game considering the minds behind Doom and Quake were behind it but I have to say, I came away disappointed. The graphics and audio are surely some of the best in any game I've ever played but I have to say the story is boring. All you is go around doing chores for people with no real purpose. When you're actually shooting stuff it looks awesome but there should be some reason why you're doing it. Hopefully Battlefield doesn't disappoint.

This game looks sick! Graphics, enemies, co-op(6 player online), and a cross from 4 different games. Borderlands+fallout+motorstorm apocalypse+halo! I can't wait.

RAGE was pretty good but I gave it 4/5 for the story because the ending was short and anti-climactic. After I beat it and watched the short final video I thought, "was that it?" Besides that the rest of the story was pretty good. If they make a sequel I would buy it.
Graphics were really nice except for the textures 'popping in' a lot. I wonder if the xbox version has the same problem. Audio was nice but it didn't transition well between different areas or rooms many times which is why I only gave it 3/5.
As others may have said, you do revisit the same locations and bandit hideouts many times, but at least they usually change it a little or you go through a different way. Over all I enjoyed it and if you like basic shooters then you will too.

I pre-ordered this game on a hunch. I'm so glad it payed off as I'm hooked! I love the combination of shooting and missions you need to complete. Looting bodies and your suurondings in order to build or upgrade items is an intersting addition. Having a ball tricking out my buggy car.

Rage has almost all the elements of a great shooter, minus a cover system. The missions pull you along through the story which for a shooter is pretty good. I think that the graphics are stunning and the world is well thought out. Driving a dune buggy through the wasteland and taking out bandits is very fun and takes the game to the next level. Controls are good and the crafting system helps you in many tight spots. There is a good variety of weapons with various ammo types that give you a lot of different options in how you play through a mission. I look forward to many more hours of game play in the world of Rage.

You have to buy, rent, or borrow this game. This was one of the best FPS campaigns I have played in years. The graphics are amazing, the game play is perfect, and the story line is pretty good . The only problem with the game is replay value, after you beat the game you can't go back into the world and free roam.

The opening scene to this game is the second best part of the game, right behind the ending. All I could muster up upon finishing was a sigh of relief. What a waste of time.
The bad:
The claim of a huge open world atmosphere can be summed up with this analogy. You can have all you can eat, but you can only eat bread, and it's a little stale. I can't imagine anyone wanting to explore that world. Unless you enjoy walking for hours and picking flowers, the vast majority of it was nothing. When you were following the main progression you were an errand boy. One side game actually has you delivering mail. I read of texture pop in being an issue (for the ps3 version) and assumed it was something being over dramatized. Nope. It's a major distraction, and after about an hour of gameplay I could feel myself rolling my eyes at every turn.
The good:
The card game acts as a real card game would. Some luck, some strategy. Many series include a card game, but very few get it right. I found myself using the game as a side quest to find new cards to play with. The different types of ammo are fun to play around with. They give the game more depth than just "run n' gun". This was also the case with being able to set up turrets.
Summary:
The game fails to connect. You will find yourself thinking, "I don't care" through most of it. If an online mutiplayer along the lines of battlefield was included, this game could have been massive despite it's flawed single player campaign. There's other games out there that do what this one fails at. Buy those.

So the people responsible for Quake teaming up with the people responsible for Fallout 3 t to make a FPS set in the post apocalyptic world? Can't miss, right? Way off. Unfortunately, though the graphics look great, the FPS aspect of the game hasn't evolved since the early days of Doom. Every mission is almost identical... retrieve something from a den full of baddies, find your object then fight your way out. The objectives lack meaning, and there is really no sense of purpose. The story is non existent, and the game just doesn't miss an opportunity to fall flat on its face. For example, in an early mission, after "retrieving an object from a den full of baddies" you earn a buggie. This is the first time in the game you get to drive something of substance, and you should be pumped to tear around and cause havoc. Luckily, the very next mission involves you driving about 50 feet before sniping a couple of guys at a distance. I found it easier to walk over, kill the guys, walk back to the buggie and drive to the objective at a safe speed with my seat belt buckled. WTF. Though this game had some fun concepts, I never did anything in the game that if felt another game hadn't done, or done much better. Overall everything was very linear and had a closed world feeling. It didn't take long going over the same territory on pointless missions to get board. All in all, Rage brings nothing new to the genera, and though I can find a good deal of quality play in about any major release, I just can find much in this one. It works hard to earn its one star rating.

After playing countless FPS and RPG type games. I also came away from this game some what disappointed. Yes Bathesda was behind it just like the great Fallout 3 and New Vegas. But to me it seems like they dumb down the game play. Made it easier for players with no actual hard decisions on what to pick up, what to keep, what to sell, what to make, what gun/bullets you will need. The same old type of quests and boring repetitive things really ruined it for me. 6-8 hours in i was done with the game.

I bought this game just because I had the Gamer's Club $15 off coupon, so I got this game for $5.
I played an hour of it, and haven't touched it since. Primarily because it's just like any other first person shooter game. This game seems to be exactly like Borderlands but with better graphics, if those graphics decide to load properly.
The graphics are great visually, yes, but they don't always load and aren't on every frame.
I think I'll eventually play this game through, but it's just nothing about it that stands out and makes me want to play it through right away.

from the E3 trailers to walkthroughs of RAGE, it has the aspects of Fallout, Borderlands and Bioshock mashed up together. now how can you disagree with 3 great RPG FPS games into one? i would personally buy this for PS3 because IGN announced that the required install space for the PS3 is 8GBs! even though it's a lot of space, the xbox 360 version consists of 3 discs. so if you have a PS3, i advise you to buy RAGE for the crazy storyline and amazing graphics

Had this game for a week now and have 18 hours in already. Racing isnt very challenging but fun and enjoy going around blowing up cars to earn cash. Has its moments of being rather easy at first but you must always be prepared when goin on a mission. Rocket launchers and upgrading pretty much all guns n keeping enough ammo on hand is a must. The card game is rather challenging as well. Very fun

Its just another shooter. There are a number of storyline sections you cannot bypass, which is annoying. Nothing really amazing about this game. You dont really care about the cause you are fighting for, and the NPC characters are blah. Vehicles are always a plus, but BF3 would be better. Its ok, but thats about it. Wait for it to go on sale.

consider this game a challenge with fallout 3 like wastelands and a doom like mission base. the game is really hard on normal so i cant imagine on hard always stock up on ammo do yourself a favor and bandages do work. dont forget to hit vs shoot sometimes too it can be better. the game is strategy without claiming it

A monstrous letdown

RAGE's incredible potential in the beginning is matched by equally incredible letdown and disappointment at the end. Very short campaign (even while trying to do all the side quests in only 3 available "towns") comes to an abrupt end with no final boss, short cutscene and credits. The game seems unfinished, as if the developers have run out of money or time and decided to cut the game at 20% completion.
I would say that while it aspires to be Fallout 3 with its environment, a few craftable items and quest log, content and depth-wise this game is about 10% or less than that.
To be fair, the graphics in this game is truly pretty to look at, and the game runs at a consistent 60fps rate, which makes it stand out among other shooters. There are some minor texture "popping" artifacts that you'll stop noticing / caring about after a while. The world and the characters are highly vivid and detailed, which simply adds to the disappointment at the end of the game.
Unfortunately RAGE developers decided not to include competitive FPS multiplayer mode, which is a travesty. That alone would have probably made up for microscopic single player campaign. The only multiplayer is co-op in "mini-missions", and arcade racing (which I couldn't care less about).
To summarize: short, buggy, linear campaign, and no multiplayer puts this game in "potentially brilliant, but effectually not worth the box it sits in" category.
