This Razer Kracken 7.1 Chroma V2 headset is fantastic~!!
First thing I noticed right away when wearing this was just how soft and comfortable it is. With the adjustable head band, I was quickly able to find the perfect fitment for my head. And unlike past headsets I've tried, the ear muffs are very well padded, soft, and comfortable. My ears don't get sweaty, my head doesn't hurt later because of any tiresome pressure applied to my head, and it's lighter than it looks. I can game for 3-4 hours and there is no fatigue or discomfort associated with wearing this.
As for the sound quality, it really is awesome. After installing the Synapse software and tuning the audio profile, my gaming sound experience has improved so much. The game I've tested extensively with was The Witcher 3 and the game world really comes alive. The sound of the wind and bristling of the wild life and foliage, the nuances of spoken characters' voices, the monster sound effects, and the bass! The bass is pretty darn good.
This headset is so good, I prefer playing my games with the Razer headset rather than playing the audio through my 5.1 speaker setup which I've been using for years.
Prior to using this headset, I never appreciated these "gaming headset" types. Now I know why some people will pay extra for this kind of high quality gaming headsets.
All in all, this is highly recommended.

I used these headphones on the PS4 Pro and they work extremely well. My gaming PC is currently being replaced with new parts so its out of commission for now. The sound quality is rich and deep hitting all channels and clear. I never had a problem with Razer products before such as their gaming mice but now I'm taking notice in their sound department. They could really be on to something special here.
There is an excellent amount of bass that comes though when playing games like Horizon: Zero Dawn, GTAV, and its very apparent in The Last of US. Chatting on it is also very crisp and clear, I love the retractable boom mic which is very durable. The headset is lightweight and fits comfortably on my head.
There are two cons to these headphones I can think of. First off the retractable headset is plastic and it feels pretty cheap at that. I'm not even sure how longs these will last but maybe its just me. I just feel like its not going to be strong enough to last over time. If you keep adjusting these on your head a snap may occur. The band on the head is strong so there is a plus. The second thing is the USB cord is not that long. So be sure you are close to your PC / PS4.
Other then that its good headphones and they are great sounding. I hope Razer keeps up the hard work improving their gaming products. If they keep going at this rate they could be leading in this field.

Very Good and Very Bad

This is a definite mixed review.
First the good: these headphones sound amazing. The 7.1 surround sound, coupled with the over-ear outside noise reduction, is really immersive. The retractable microphone is a nice feature as well. The 6' usb cord is long enough, but could stand to be a tiny bit longer. With my pc setup, it is stretched almost to the limit. The cord has a braided exterior and features a built-in tie to keep the cord neat.
The headphones are pretty comfortable with a cushioned headband and deeply cushioned earphones. Like most headphones though, after prolonged use, my ears started to hurt.
The Razer Kraken headphones look really cool. They did a good job in the design phase. The Razer logos light up on each earphone when you are connected to the computer.
Now for the bad. The very bad. The Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma V2 headphones come with software that, after connecting the headphones to your computer, will prompt you to install. To complete the installation process, a computer restart is necessary. When I attempted the install, I was unable to restart my computer. As in, the installation crashed my computer. After many attempts to fix things, I was forced to reset my computer to its initial settings. My computer has never misbehaved before and is completely up to date. If I decide to use these headphones again, I will not be installing the software.

These pair of headphones more than satisfied my expectations. The build quality are extremely high, specially the structural frame made of metallic instead of plastic which will provide many years of usage. Despite that the frame is of metal, the were actually lighter than other headphones I have tried. The feature of retracting the microphone when not in use a big plus for me. When not in use, I find it bothersome having the mic in front of me. But this Razer Kraken solves this issue.
The plush cushion that cups my ears make the headphone comfortable to wear for many hours. The headband also has a soft cushion and it does not bother my head even when I wear my glasses.
Most importantly, the sound is amazing, crisp and clear. Good surround sound for absolutegamers.
My nine year old son borrows them from me and he uses them for a lot of online videos, games and movies. I love them and he trying to convince me to give it to him. For now, I think I will just lend them to him.

Very Comfortable Headphones

My first thought when I opened the box was of how carefully these headphones were packaged. My second thought? How large they were. I normally cannot tolerate a large, bulky headset for long periods. However, once I put these headphones on, I found them to be surprisingly comfortable. I didn't feel like they were weighing my head down in any way. The muffs fit my ears perfectly, and the secure fit helped to drown out any ambient noise. They are truly Plug and Play headphones. They worked with my laptop almost instantly. I tried them out both with music and with game play. One neat thing is that the Razer logos light up with use. While you can't see it, it allows others to see that your headphones are in use. Plus, it looks cool. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I found these headphones to sound as I expected them to. I heard every instrument in my music, the bass was not overpowering, there were no odd changes in pitch. I could lose myself in both my music and game play with ease, even though I had family playing a loud TV in an adjacent room.

I was intrigued by this product given the 7.1 audio claim, the integrated microphone, and customization features. The audio was excellent for both gaming and music purposes. The surround sound processing effect was discernible; adding realism. Overall sound quality was superb. While I did not use the integrated microphone to a great extent I enjoyed the ability to position the microphone as needed. The Kraken 7.1 is highly customizable via software and was easy to adjust settings, colors, etc. as needed.

Amazing Headphones. Worth the Purchase.

I should start by saying that I've purchased dozens of headsets over the years from cheap in-ear bluetooth headsets to very expensive noise-cancelling headsets. I have to say that although this thing doesn't sound like a $400 headset, that's perfectly fine. It sounds like a headset that costs easily 5x as much.
My first impression when I took them out of the box was that they had a very nice weight to them. The balance was great; not so light as to feel cheap, but not so heavy as to make my head tired. Solid build that you could feel good about. After that, I ran through a few games and watched some Netflix with them, and they performed beautifully.
Despite these being made of metal; the headphones were actually lighter on my head than the plastic ones. Truly amazed. And don't get me started on the music quality. The gaming pinpoint accuracy is also great. This is truly the best pair of headphones I have ever purchased for all my computing uses.
Software is great, probably the easiest product registry I've ever had to do. I have not felt the need to adjust bass boost at all. Simply tuning through the EQ has been enough. The digital surround sound is great, works as described.
If you're looking for a lot of audio bang for your buck, this is the purchase for you.

Best 7.1 Virtual Sound Headphones For the $$$

I love these headphones... OK... OK... I'm slightly biased to Razer Products but I've tried Several Other Headphones prior to purchasing the Razer - Kraken 7.1 V2 Wired Virtual Surround Sound Chroma USB Gaming Headset. Hige difference... In games... The enemies, explosions, gunfire, what-have-you all sound as if they are right on mark as to where they are coming from. The 7.1 sound is incredible and completely noticeable. I've tried 40mm and 50mm Headsets from Steel Series and others and nothing comes close to these in sound production at this price point. More money then some but less then others. Either way a great price point for the quality. The headphones are a tad cumbersome but are very comfortable and the quality is there with a combination between metal and plastic materials. So, you have the flexibility of both you have a reliable piece of equipment. I now own two of these Kraken V2 Chroma Headphones and enjoy using them over speakers. Especially with laptops. If you've been searching for a great pair of headphones do yourself a favor a pick up a pair of these. Oh, and the Chroma option for display millions of different colors in a nice touch too. I could go on but I don't look for other headphones anymore. I found what I need for daily use and for the gaming I do. The free software you download makes the spatial FX even more intriguing. Oh, and don't forget about the easy tuck away Microphone which is easy to turn on and off. They might have included a volume control switch on the cable but I haven't missed it yet and you don't have the extra weight from the volume mixer weighing down the cable. Buy these!

Great sound, solid construction and Lights!

Very nice gaming and PC headset. Came packaged in a cool box, features 50mm drivers to produce BIG sound (careful - because the sounds leaks out and people sitting around you can easily hear what you're listening too), have very solid and quality construction (I really like the retractable mic boom) and a braided cord.
The first thing I noticed is how easily my Surface Pro 4 identified the headset and automatically downloaded the drivers once I plugged them in! Second thing was the cool "kraken" lights on the side of the headphones that made them glow. Third was a bit annoying, but before I started playing music on them, the braided cable slide against my shirt sleeve and made a scratchy sound. Investigating further I discovered that the construction/design of how the cable connects to the headphones "amplifies" any rubbing or scratching sounds of the cable itself. It's not terrible, you can just "hear" your movements when there is no music playing or volume is really low.
I would have liked a cable a bit longer though - even though it is 6 feet - longer is always better to me and wireless is even better yet!
The chroma lighting is cool - makes the headset look "bad" and is fully customizable through the auto-downloaded software to 16.8 million colors!
Voice quality seems good - not quite a good as my plantronics headset I use for normal skype voice calls though.
I heard a bit about of the longevitity of the cable connection - but I yet to experience any issues with that.
Overall - for the money this is a solid headset that looks cool, is very comfortable to wear due to the light aluminum construction and wide padded headband and produces a BIG sound with decent bass as well! Super for gaming or rocking out to music while at home! Likely won't become your go-to travel headset due to size.

Hear Everything with this Kraken

We all know how headphones somehow fall short of expectations especially when there is a bit of a noise where you are using them and its a constant effort to find something better.
These Kraken headphones do deliver as promised. The frequency response is 12Hz ti 28kHz with and impedance of 32ohms at 1kHz. A high sensitivity rating with 50mm neo magnet drivers. Being USB it allows you to connect it to many devices. It also worked fine with a usb to audio adapter without any loss in performance.
The cable length is 2m or 6.6 ft and is long enough for most of the things you would be doing with the headset on.The mic on this is very very sensitive and picks up the lowest of sounds. The SNR of 55dB is quite excellent along with the sensitivity it offers. This microphone also supports unidirectional pickup patterns.
The headset works with PC and Mac and the drivers did not pose any issues. Excellent quality and comfort.

While the sound quality and end user experience are great, I find that the price to experience ratio is somewhat high. If that is a little unclear let me explain.
These headphones cost me $99.99 plus tax. however these were bought with a warranty coverage on a previous Kraken headset, the Kraken Pro v2 Wired Stereo Gaming Headset, and thus I decided to "upgrade" while doing so.
If I could go back I would just buy the pro v2 again. the sound, while great, has no noticeable improvement over the pro v2. The mic quality, while better than the pro v2 by a small margin, is also not very noticeable unless you are using sound recording software, combine that with the fact that the Kraken 7.1 V2 is usb based meaning you can only use it on computers, meanwhile the pro v2 used the 3.5mm jack allowing it to be used with both my computer, and my ipod. Also gone is the in-line volume control.
The only thing could really push this ahead of the pro v2, is the chroma ability to cycle colors, and match up with the other kraken gear you have, if that is something you desperately need, or want then the Kraken 7.1 V2 Wired Virtual Surround Sound Chroma USB Gaming Headset is for you, otherwise i would recommend the pro v2 instead.
overall, if you can afford this and not break the bank, I would highly recommend

The headset is easily the best headset I've ever had. The sound is very crisp and clear. Not to heavy after long gaming sessions and comfortable around the ears. Easy to install and I like the configuration process. What I love best is how immersed into the game I am in because it's very hard to hear outside noises.

Cons
-It's USB only and does not include volume adjust on the fly. You'll have to adjust the volume manually through hot keys or software.
Pros
- The sound quality is solid. It allows you to calibrate a practical 360 degree field for that gaming edge. The bass and treble quality are quite satisfactory too. You can really hear a range of low tones as well as crystal clear highs. They're loud enough too; they're not going to leave you wanting for more like other headsets.
The Chroma lighting is a nice aesthetic. The lighting syncs with other Choma enabled devices; it pairs well with my mouse.
Overall this headset has minor inconveniences but I'd recommend this to a friend. A Satisfactory and Comfortable set of cans right here.

Great headphones. These are very comfortable and the sound is phenominal. I have been using these with Tom Clancy's Wildlands and Tom Clancy's The Division. The only complain I have (and it is a personal one due to my use of a Logitech G720 gaming keyboard) is that the cord is too long. I plug the USB from the headphones directly into the keyboard and not into my tower. For others with a different setup, the long cord would be ideal.
