FANTASTIC Game, O.K. Remaster
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this game for under $15 dollars (love Best Buy Sales and Gamer's Club). I have beaten this game numerous times on the PC, and my PS3. However i love this game and decided to pick it up for my PS4. This game is GREAT! Granted, the remaster isn't anything too special, i will be creating this review MOSTLY from the mindset of a new player experience. Pros: - Story : This game is HEAVILY focused on the older characters from the Franchise, and ties up loose-ends with Wesker. The story is VERY well done, and despite a few hiccups and cliche's (the game's plot is very similar to RE4), the game is clearly top-notch and the variety and voice acting is superb! Gameplay: I know many people knocked the game for its "Action-Adventure" gameplay, and the move away from Survival Horror. Yes, that is true it plays more like an Action game, but that isn't a bad thing. The game does this VERY well, and TBH, the gameplay isn't that far off from RE4 EITHER (which is considered by many to be amongst the most successful RE titles). It is very smooth to play, and very fun. The only gripe i have is the game is meant for co-op, so the Friendly AI is not so Friendly, and rather unintelligent. Also the fact you cannot shoot while moving is a little less to be desired GRANTED it moves away from Survival Horror. But it isn't anything major. Graphics: This game was ORIGINALLY released in early 2009! That is ALMOST a full decade ago, and these graphics are on par with late PS3, early PS4 generation! The Remaster gives a near 60 FPS boost, and a few fixes to things like anti-aliasing....but nothing massive (most won't notice) But the increased FPS makes the game more enjoyable. - Replayability: This game gives us the BEST Mercenaries mode currently out there. RE4 dabbled with this, but now with 2 player Mercenaries, I can say i spent MOST of my time playing this. MY cousin comes over often and we aim to get HIGH scoring SS Rank on ALL stages, with ALL Characters. There is something so satisfying about this mode. Cons: - Difficulty: The only main gripe I have is the difficulty. On lower difficulties the game is pitifully easy. On higher difficulties you do get a challenge, but not for the right reasons. Poorly built AI will get you killed (or they die, hence you fail) and the increase to difficulty is primarily to the enemy POWER. Their health doesn't really get an increase, the amount of enemies isn't changed, NOR their tactics. I do felt the devs were a little lazy here, and would be my only negative Summary: Overall this game is a MUST buy! It is only 20 bucks, and unless you have a laundry list of other games to play, or have played this to ad nauseam, then it is worth it. I love the RE franchise despite of where it has gone, and think Capcom did a great job on this game. Just KNOW you are not getting Survival Horror here, you are getting Action Adventure.

Excellent upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you never played the PS3 version or even if you did, this game is still worth the purchase. Amazon 1080p graphics as well as 60fps this game will have you hooked. The co op is excellent weather it is split screen or online it was designed for 2 players all the time even though solo works well too.

Not the strongest RE title but still a solid game.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Resident Evil 5 seems to get a lot of hate but I personally believe that this is a good game. The main points of contention that I see for it is that the AI for your partner Sheva isn't that good. Which is completely true, she'll waste ammo and get herself killed if you're not careful. However I still feel that the gameplay far outweighs the negatives of that. If you have someone to play this game with I think that RE5 can be one of the most enjoyable co-op games around. If you've played this title back on the 360 or PS3 I would say this is a decent upgrade. The framerate and resolution are the only real changes here, but it's definitely an improvement.

Great action packed remaster
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Resident Evil 5 is a great survival horror game that excels in delivering intense action segments. RE 5 borrows the pattern of RE 4 in which the player is thrown into situations where waves of enemies are coming at the player while figuring out puzzles and protecting your partner. While RE 5 does not really deliver any real scares like past RE titles, it does excel in providing an arsenal of great weapons, good storyline, and great action. The game does have a few puzzles and some grand boss fights. Some of the bosses are not only huge but present an interesting challenge. The game features an upgrade system where you can collect jewels and other forms of currency to purchase weapon upgrades , armor, ammunition, and weapons. This is very useful and plays a part in the gameplay. The graphics still hold up well and the remaster merely just cleans up the overall look. All the dlc is included with no extra cost! Great game to pick up if you are a fan of action games.

Great port of a great Resident Evil game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Between excellent co-op, a solid single player experience, and the outstanding mechanics of RE4, which are built upon in 5, you have the recipe for a great game. It's true that 5 is inferior to 4 in many respects, but it's still great in it's own right. As for this version, it runs in 1080p at 60 FPS, and it looks beautiful. It also includes all DLC, which means it's a great value at $20.

Still my favorite RE
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buy it! I love this RE game and highly recommend it to anyone who loves: a great horror game, great story driven game, a fun coop game, a great gameplay experience overall. The voice acting is good, graphics are excellent, and gameplay if phenomenal. There’s a lot of content in the game for several weeks worth of entertainment. However, you’ll want more than one play through because it’s that good.

Great port of the original
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an upscaled port of Resident 5. originally released in 2009 for xbox 360, ps3 and pc. It looked and played great and had substantial dlc. Its much more action based than the previous Resident evils, so dont expect too many scares. Pros: 1080p resolution, 60 frames per second, includes all of the DLC and great co op (split screen or online). Cons: produces black borders for split screen making it harder to see (like resident evil 6). Overall its a very good product for the value, even better with gamer's club unlocked. Side mode Mercenaries alone is worth it.

Pretty good, but not as great as past games
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game by itself is actually pretty fun! Loads of boss battles that are challenging and fun, and the story and gameplay are really great as well. Though if you're looking for a game more grounded in survival-horror, you won't find much of it here. This is more of an action, third person shooter game sort of like Gears of War. But if you enjoy those types of games, then you'll love this. Otherwise, I still say give this one a shot! It's still really entertaining nonetheless.

Still a great CO-OP game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I remember playing this on the PS3. The single player wasn't very exciting, but playing co-op with a friend was great fun (couch co-op split screen is little annoying with the 2 small boxes, but online is great). Although people bash it for not being true survival horror, the game still was very enjoyable and this remaster - which comes with the DLC and an updated Mercenaries mode with all characters unlocked - is a great deal for $20!

Back To The Beginning
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Resident Evil 5 HD Includes all post Launch DLC with improved visuals. RE5 is different from previous RE entries (I consider RE4 to still have a decent amount of the survival horror), as it REALLY strays away from the survival horror RE is known for, & changes into an Action-Packed game. While the main game is full of action, the Lost in Nightmares DLC will take old time RE fans to the past, as they enter a mansion similar to the Spencer Estate in RE1 & relive the survival horror they once knew, & it even allows them to change it back to the old-school camera for a while! The Desperate Escape DLC continues on the action the main game has shown us & the Versus mode DLC is a fun (though, unfitting for a RE game) gamemode as you fight other players or defeat Majini in an attempt to obtain the highest score solo or on teams. There are also new costumes & figurines to collect & unlock. Not to mention Mercenaries Reunion brings some new variations for both Redfield & Alomar. With some old & new faces joining the fray. Overall the COMPLETE RE5 experience a definite must own.

Great Restoration. Never Going To Be Perfect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like I said, it's not perfect but it's hella fun and the couch co-op abilities are awesome on this game. Definitely classic resident evil controls. I actually bought and played RE Revelations 2, then sold it and used the money to go buy this on PS4 because Revelations 2 just wasn't as solid as this game. It's definitely a great game and a lot of fun to play on co-op. I am definitely impressed with the restoration of this game from the xbox360 and Ps3. It brings the game up go full 1080p 60fps. The original is only 30fps. Many people online were upset at the restoration of this game but honestly, it will never be 100% perfect and that's okay to me. It definitely is solid on the new platforms. In comparison, the PS4 restoration is definitely better than the XboxOne in terms of frame rate. There are many times when the Xbox drops down to 40 or 50 fps rather than 60. Although the Ps4 does this as well, the xbox does it more often. Overall, if you liked this game before ...buy the restoration and play it again. Worth the money.

Still Holds Up as One of the Best RE Titles
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.RE5 is the best-selling of the series for Capcom, and while it may not be the masterpiece that was RE4, it is leaps and bounds better than RE6. RE5 was the start of Capcom moving the franchise towards an action-shooter with a little less horror, and a lot more explosions. It works here. The PS4 version enjoys a better frame-rate, and sharper textures. The improvements are subtle so if you've already experienced this game on the 360 or PS3, it's hard to recommend it. This version does include all DLC content. These add-ons are on-disc so if you missed out on the DLC, you may want to pick this up to play through the short stories and try the add-on costumes. Again, neither are meaty DLC, so if you've played the campaign already, it's tough to recommend. For those who never played RE5 on the earlier console, or (like me), started but didn't come close to getting anywhere, then the PS4 version is worth the price of entry. The game holds up pretty well, and for $15-20, it's a solid title that beats most other budget games handily.

Great co-op game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've played numerous resident evil games and this one is definitely one of my favorites. Not only does it have a good story, but you also get to play the whole campaign with a friend online. At the price it's at, definitely great bang for your buck.

Not as great as the RE6 port, but still good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Earlier, Capcom released a port of RE6 and greatly improved on the technical aspects of the game for the current generation. And now a port of RE5 has released, and this small review will focus solely on the port aspects of the game. Graphics wise, the resolution and clarity has been bumped, but nothing as major as the RE6 port due to the release difference when the game first released, seems to be using the equivalent of the high graphics settings on PC. The game does not hold a steady 60FPS, but seems to hover at 50FPS for the majority of the game. Audio presentation is the same as the previous generation, supporting Dolby TS. This does come with all of the DLC, both single player and multiplayer. Strangely enough, you have to finish the game first before playing through the single player DLC, even though the previously released GOLD EDITION did not require you to do so.

Classic Capcom
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Much like the Resident Evil 6 re-release, this is a very solid transfer onto current-gen consoles. It holds up pretty well graphically, there aren't any performance issues, and overall, it's still a very solid game. However, one thing I'd like to warn potential new players about is the game's "stop-and-shoot" mechanic, meaning that instead of being able to move while you use weapons like in countless other 3rd person action games, you can't move while you aim and shoot. It was super jarring when I first jumped back in, and while I'm sure I'll be able to settle into it again having played it before, new players who haven't played this before may find this mechanic off-putting. Overall, though, definitely worth the 20 bucks, and a very well-done re-release from Capcom again.

Really fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you like passing games with a brother or friend then this game is for you. It's Resident Evil 4 with Co-op.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you liked Resident Evil 4 you will feel right at home. It plays exactly the same. Same controls and you still can't move while shooting. You can play the whole campaign and mercenaries mode with a friend either split screen or online. This is pretty much just a re release of the Gold Edition so all DLC is on the disc as well as an extra mode called "No Mercy" that was exclusive to PC. The resolution has been bumped up to 1080p and it now runs at 60fps. The game isn't scary but it's still a fun action game.
