Having tried both high end VR in the form of the Vive and low end in the form of Google Cardboard, I picked this up largely on a whim so that I could have a cardboard style headset with a decent strap to show off to people without needing to go through the trouble of setting up the larger Vive. Unfortunately, I can't say I was left very impressed by the overall experience. The build quality is cheap throughout. Moving parts are stiff and worryingly fragile, the controller is literally held together by friction, and the "Bluetooth earphones" barely work and offer some of the worst audio quality I've ever heard. The headset itself is fine apart from a large piece right at the top of your vision used to support a button to interact with the phone. I tried making several adjustments, but none of them made it any less distracting. I have to say I was more impressed by the Cardboard viewer I assembled myself. I had some hopes for the controller, but as it turns out it wasn't particularly useful either. As I mentioned earlier it's barely held together at all. It came apart in my hand after getting a thumbnail caught in one of the seams, and with so little pressure that I barely noticed. It's also oriented in a way that makes it pretty clear that they just put a cheap Bluetooth game controller in a different case that's been molded to mimic the layout of a remote or motion controller. To move the cursor up requires you to move the analog stick to the right, and most of the buttons are positioned directly under your palm. Given that you are expected to use this without being able to see it and that dropping it would probably make the pieces fly apart, I can't imagine ever being able to do much with it. The one saving grace is that they do seem to have fairly decent lenses in the headset. They're not going to give you a great field of view, but they do at least offer IPD adjustments that you don't get with a cardboard viewer. And the head strap is pretty nice. If you can live with the v-shaped chunk taken out of the top of your vision, the headset itself isn't that bad. But personally I'd either stick with cardboard or swing for something a little nicer with better build quality.

I was very intrigued to want to try these new VR headsets from Retrak. They were at a great price during the Holiday season and I decided to get two for my daughter and myself. I must say the concept is great, but there are a lot of Con's more so than the Pro's. First off, both say they come with a charger or (Micro USB cable), but neither of them had one in the box. The bluetooth earbuds are cool, but not if you have no way of charging them. I found the many apps that were available were below average and found that most Movie Advertisements through VR were better. The headset was comfortable, but I found that after about 30-40 minutes I was beginning to get a head ache. The controller is a little confusing and unfortunately doesn't work with a lot of the VR apps which makes it frustrating. I would say that the product was well made, but again I think these would be cooler in about a year or so, when there are better apps and games available. Retrak is on the right track, but I would suggest waiting.

The controller would not work with the game. It kept cutting off, and it was paired to the android smart phone just like the instructions said. There was not enoygh information available with it to find other compatible games either, we trued several from the website and nothing worked with the controllers. I took both sets I bought back to the store. I would have trued a different kind but they did not have anything else in stock. I was not happy because I had to wait 3 days fir the money to pist back on my card so my grandsons had to wait and it was a Christmas gift and they could not use it. I asked for refund in cash so they would not have to wait but was told no and there was nothing else in stock to swap for. Very disappointed in the fact that i could not get cash refund when they had nothing in stock and the 3 day delay to receuve refund on my card. They did not let me wait 3 days to pay for it so i should not have had to wait 3 days for my refund. I will not purchase Christmas gifts in this manber ever again. Thank you for asking.

I use an iphone. The remote control only works on the iphones volume up down. So, once you put the iphone in the headset you have to take it out again to start and stop the videos. But ...you say...there is button on the top of the headset that is supposed to push a capacitive pen type stylus..yes there is but it doesn't reach the screen. You can actually use a magnet though if you scrape the magnet across the front of the headset from left to right or right to left it can work for those videos that only want a touch to continue. The headset is not terribly expensive though and it actually provides a nice VR experience AND i can fit my glasses in the headset under the cushion so that's good too. Lastly it comes with a bluetooth headset that works pretty well and keeps you immersed in the experience.

I've looked at a few VR headsets, and this one is good because you can adjust the eyepieces both ways - front to back, and interocular distance (between the eyes), which many VR units don't have, but which is important. I would highly recommend this VR headset because it has several features that many in its price class don't have, including the remote control. The only problem I had was that the instructions said to press the button on top of the headset for certain functions. The first time I pressed it, it became stuck in the headset and wouldn't spring back. I tried, but couldn't get it to pop back up, so I returned it to Best Buy for exchange. I haven't used the new one yet, but I'm sure it will work fine if I don't press the button so hard.

Limited field of view, tiny/incorrect instructions

My biggest disappointment with the Retrak - Utopia 360° Immersive Experience was its limited field of view. It was like looking at the wide world through a 4" black PVC pipe. With little/no peripheral vision, I had to turn my head to gain much of a sense of "virtual reality". Instructions were so small that I had to enlarge them to 200% to read. Even then, the diagrams are insufficient in that the poorly marked buttons on the remote control appeared to be in conflict with the basic on/off function. While the instructions, as distributed, are small enough to be kept as a reference for control of the VR headset & sound, they are not readable even after the headset is removed, which is exacerbated by the numerous unmarked buttons on the remote.

Was unable to pair with iPhone 6s or 8; slot for phone did not fit 6s Plus and holder presses on phone buttons all the time and messes with screen lock and volume; holder will scratch your phone! Cheap material - device button sank and stuck after pressing it just 2 (two) times - I am a woman and very careful with handling electronics; was able to get it to pair with an older Android phone but never got the remote control to work. Total waste of time, energy and money.

Initially I was impressed with my first VR product. It is really cool and this product worked great. Past tense. The tabs that hold the phone are fragile and broke the first week I owned it. I never found an app that used the remote so it was a waste of money. The Bluetooth headphones are nice and sound good. Zero support. I went into Best Buy to get a competitors product and found that I paid $10 too much. The price was different in different Best Buys stores.

My wife bought me this as a Christmas gift. I have a iPhone and this would probably work better with a android. It was kinda cool seeing the Eiffel Tower but that’s about it. Couldn’t get any games to work and it just ended giving me a headache. Needless to say we returned it, but it was a thoughtful idea from my wife

This was a Christmas gift for a grandchild; not on his list, so a surprise. Once all gifts were opened, this was the "go to"; got to try it now. It was a hit that then have everyone wanting to try it. Much like the TV commercials, it was a source of laughs for everyone as they observed the one using it. I was concerned if the price would deliver a comfortable, easy-to-use, quality VR experience. It delivered!

Works ok but my. iPhone 6+ must be positioned in the holder carefully otherwise the holder turns off the sound on the phone. Also have not been able to get the remote control to work. It pairs ok but has no response. May be because I don't have the right 3D apps installed on my phone. However, the pictures and efffects are very good so have been enjoying the device.

First the remote doesn't work or at least doesn't work with any of the apps I have tried and have tried many. Many apps that were recommended don't work well, at least with this viewer. You definitely don't feel like you are there. More like watching a close up video. It has taken a while to realize that this just isn't the best VR viewer, but too late to return.

The VR is good - some face sizes, like mine, this headset doesn't fit perfectly... the eye alignment is a little off. But it works for many games. The earbuds work well, fit a little awkward, and I've had no luck at all with the little bluetooth controller working with any app - it also seems to shut off all the time. That's why only a 3 star rating

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas. It was easy for her to use, and there are a lot of free games for her to play. To my surprise, she loves the virtual tours the best, and spends a lot of time on virtual roller coasters. There are definitely better ones out there, but for someone on a budget, this is perfect.

I found this headset to be comfortable for long sessions. It holds the smartphone securely and is as good as plastic can get. The Bluetooth earbuds work great too. The controller it not robust and suffers the same problem any plastic game controller does. Use it gently.

I purchased the Utopia 360 thinking it would it would be entertaining but I found it not to be advanced enough. It's still to early. I kept it and will probably give it a nephew in the family. I don't really want to say anything bad about it because for a young kid they might love it... good for ages 8-11 not adults!

My husband bought it for our girl because she really wanted it for Christmas. While not the best, it’s not he worst. She has not used it much, but her brothers have and they say it gives them headaches. My husband wasn’t too happy with the quality either, but it was to be expected due to price.

This was exactly what I was looking for. The price and quality were good. However, I was very disappointed when I found out that VR doesn't work on my phone because my phone doesn't have a gyroscope! So before you want to try VR on your phone, make sure it has a gyroscope otherwise you're wasting your time.

I purchased this VR headset as a holiday gift for my niece. She loves it! It's a great headset for young ones that want to play games as it comes with a bluetooth gaming remote and bluetooth headphones in the bundle. Easily one of the best VR headsets on the market at this price point!

This product was a glorified Viewmaster without the 3-D it was really a letdown, I guess I was expecting a lot more from a virtual reality experience from what I understand if you spend a lot more money you can get a true virtual-reality experience but it's going to cost you more than 50 bucks.
