What do you get when you mix in Alien movie atmosphere with Metroid Prime game play and sprinkle in rogue-like elements? Returnal. Must buy if you like single player FPS.

Unique and fun gameplay. Really interesting storyline. Definitely frustrating and a but repetitive but there are a lot of ways to go about it. Definitely needs to be llayed in the dark.

Good use of adaptive triggers (best of all PS5 games imo). Great rogue-lite with good between-run upgrades that make progression feel good. Note that, because it's a rogue-lite that means it's run-based so you will die and reset run progress and start over so if that's a make-or-break feature to you, know it's in here (but I still think it offers enough between run progress to not make it feel as bad as something like more traditional rogue-lite like Binding of Isaac or Enter the Gungeon). Housemarque is always a great studio and nice to see what they make. I would say don't pick up outside of a sale ($70 for any of these games is too far for me tbh).

A must play if you own a PS5 and enjoy third person shooters. Great graphics and rock solid framerate with a very interesting story will keep you playing.

Been playing this game digitally awaiting this sale to by my physical copy. Game is brilliant and the disc came with everything a new game should. Very happy with my purchase.

Returnal is a must have PS5 game. It truly stands out as a gem of the next gen titles. The difficulty is hard for sure, but the replay value is through the roof. It's very satisfying to progress further each time through the different biomes. It's definitely worth checking out.

This is a really solid game. I've been waiting for something original on the PS5 and this is a worthy entry. If you're into roguelike style games, this will be right up your alley. Awesome sound and visual design on top of it.

Interesting game I’m not far into it but what I have played is fun. Best Buy had it on sale so plucked it up

I’m maybe 5 hours in and I’m blown away. I’ve never played a rogue like before and was hesitant to. But I’m an old school gamer and this feels very Metroid with tons of modern polish. It’s very engaging and has that “one more run” mentality to keep you going. Again, incredibly polished experience and this game was the reason I picked up a PS5 after praise from MyLifeInGaming (YouTube) and some of my friends. This game is brutal but if you love a challenge, welcome to Returnal!

This game is very addictive and very hard. There’s a little bit of learning curve to understand how the game works. But once you get the hang of it it’s very fun.

I played the heck out of this to the point I caused bad stick drift in my controller. I'm not usually one for souls like difficulty in games but it being sci fi and having long range weapons made it palatable

Amazing game. The 3D audio and the haptic feedback of the controller make it an immersive experience. Recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind a bit of a challenge. Worth the $70

Taking a rogue style, and stuffing it into a massive, EXCELLENT story like this is unprecedented, and just done so magnificently. A stellar game, albeit EXTREMELY difficult.

Bought this game to give it a try...never played a game by this company but overall it's a unique and great experience. I know that when you die you start over but I just wish they had saves in it where you can save your progress and then still come back to where you left off...then if you die, you start over again...but they need to be able to let people close out the game and turn off their PS5's. Just beware that you can't save in this game or turn off your PS5 after playing or you will have to start over from the beginning. Great looking graphics and challenging gameplay though...Great new game!

This is a great game, but pretty difficult. Not crazy about not being able to save your progress. That makes it much more difficult for a casual gamer who doesn't have endless hours to pour into the game.

The patches and how this game lacks saving really made the release week feel like a mess. I enjoyed playing it for hours, but was careful in how I managed runs because I didn't want to waste my time like others did that didn't know patches would restart the game. Or in the case of one rushed out patch destroy the save file. I thankfully kept track of what was going on and don't happen to trust new patches on new software. In spite of its fun game play and great looking environments I must knock the way they handled releasing this game. It's a good game, but falls short of greatness and really I question the value of it being 70 dollars. I would buy it again, but really it's still a shame games don't release in better shape.

One of the few games that offers a high challenge while also delivering a story that cant be figured out instantly.

This game will test tour limits as a gamer; you will die a lot and start from the beginning. However you will enjoy every minute of it. I highly recommend this game

Excellent game, hard to put down! One of the best non-series, original games I’ve played in a long time. Also really shows off the PS5 capabilities well.
