Wouldn't link to my wifes' older I phone. Only way to download would be to have Onstar on this newer Chevy. Not paying for Onstar just for this. Took it back.

We are quite confused by the review as the R316 does not require any sort of paid service to work. Our product has no relation whatsoever with Onstar. Could this review had been left for another product? rexingusa

I’ve been using the Rexing R316 dash cam for several days now, and it’s easily one of the best upgrades I’ve made to my car. Setting it up was a breeze. Right now I just have it connected to my cigarette lighter. It’s basically plug and play when you do that. I do plan to use the Smart wire kit to connect it to my fuse box, but I’m making an appointment to have that done professionally. Depending on where your fuses are in your car and if you actually know anything about fuses, you could possibly do this on your own. I for one do not, and so will be going to the professionals. The dual-camera setup is what really sets this dash cam apart. It doesn’t have a rear cam, although there is a place to connect one if you choose to get one, which I may do down the line. But it has a front camera and a cabin camera, which is perfect for rideshare drivers or anyone who wants to keep an eye on what’s happening inside the car. Also, one thing I didn’t realize until I actually had one was that the cabin camera does help the driver in the event of an incident. For instance, it can prove that I looked over my shoulder before changing lanes, or other things like that. The front camera has a wide-angle lens, and the image quality is fantastic (4K baby!)—so I can clearly see license plates, road signs, and any details that might be important. keep in mind that the cabin camera is not 4K but it is still fairly good quality considering. I also love the loop recording feature, which means I don’t have to worry about managing storage—old footage is automatically overwritten unless it’s marked as important. If there’s a bump or crash, the built-in G-sensor automatically locks the footage, which is good because (knock on wood) if I wasn’t an accident, I don’t think my focus would be on locking in the footage on my camera. I haven’t had a huge opportunity to use it yet, but I love that it also has night vision (on both cameras). Even in low light, the video is sharp and clear. I’ve had cheaper dash cams before, but they didn’t come close to the quality of the R316, and honestly, the R316 is pretty reasonable priced in my opinion.

    Great dashcam, some minor annoyances.

Overall I found this dashcam to be great. Initial setup can be either extremely simple or a bit complicated, depending on your specific car and how you want to set it up. You can power it with a 12v DC plug for ease of setup, but I chose to power it with the provided fuse taps for a cleaner look - which is a more involved install. You need to power it this way if you want it to work while parked. It requires finding two different fuses to tap power off of, one of which should be constantly powered, the other should power when the car is turned to accessory mode. This allows it to determine when the car is actually running so it can decide when to switch recording modes. I didn't want the parking mode enabled because my car has a relatively small battery to begin with, and I didn't want to worry about coming outside to a dead battery. To allow it to use fuse taps without enabling the parking mode, I simply just ran both fuse taps to different accessory fuses. Once it's powered, initial setup is fairly simple. Connecting to the Dashcam's wifi can be a bit of an annoyance depending on your phone - because it doesn't provide internet access, many phones will try to automatically disconnect - so you may have to change some network-specific settings to prevent this. Still fairly simple to do. Something I found quite annoying is that after saving enough clips, you will eventually need to remove the microSD and insert it into some other device. Once clips are marked to be saved, there is no way to delete them from the camera or the app - at least I wasn't able to find a way to do so. It's not a huge issue unless you're saving a LOT of clips, but still bothersome. One fascinating thing is that you can actually physically remove the interior facing camera - you could turn it off in settings, but you can also just remove it from the camera altogether for a cleaner look and peace of mind should you not want to record the interior of your vehicle. I found footage to be very usable both in daytime and at night, it works great in that regard. The interior camera has infrared lighting which makes it quite usable at night as well. Build quality is fairly nice overall, but I did have the angle adjusting nut come off - I didn't even realize until I found it in my seat a few days after install - without it the dashcam would have eventually fallen off its mount, so that's something to keep an eye on. The included microSD is perfectly sufficient for the dashcam, but I am a bit worried about longevity. There's no guarantee on the quality of the microSD, and with it being constantly overwritten I'm a bit worried it'll die fairly quickly. A larger microSD would help mitigate this, as each spot would get overwritten less times. I'm not worried enough to get a new card, but its something to keep in mind especially if you drive a lot or use the parking mode.

      Hello,

I am sorry to hear that your dashcam did not turn on at all. This makes me believe it could be an issue related to power specially if a USB connection is attempted instead of the cigarette lighter charger. This dash cam comes with everything that you need to record your driving experience. Two sets of cables are provided, one to use the cigarette lighter port and another to allow you to tap into the fuse box. I have to admit that it took me a while to know which fuses are always on and which ones are switched with the car. The benefit of using the fuse box cable is that it ensures that the dash cam always has power to record activities that occur when you are not driving. For example, someone backs into your car or tries to break in, you capture the incident on video. Why even have a dash cam? Simple, if you ever have a driving accident then you have evidence as to what really happened, the insurance company and other driver cannot try to minimize what occurred. The dash cam captures what is happening in front of your car and also what you are doing inside the car. You can buy an additional camera that you can mount on the back of your car so that you are recording what is happening behind you. The dash cam is veryeasy to affix to your windshield.

So, this camera is what I needed in a dash cam. I would have preferred a slightly more rectangular unit, to be able to better hide it, but this was decent enough. Video quality is good. To be honest, I did not try to app nor the wifi. If I need the video, I'll pop out the microSD and work with it on my computer. It's not that difficult. I saw several reviews complain about the location of the USB cable. I honestly prefer it up top, as this is where the wire comes down. I usually plug it in, then put the camera in the mount, so this works just fine. Video quality is decent (not if you are looking in the small screen in the camera, though - I feel that is mostly there for general situational awareness of the system operation; not the greatest frame rates, but it does the trick). Also, while Best Buy's product description fails to mention this, it also comes with the "cigarette lighter plug", which is my preference. I wish they would list that, as I was initially reluctant to purchase it because it did not have this. If I have issues with the suction cup, I may try to come back and edit this.

The Rexing R316 4K GPS WiFi Front & Cabin Cam is an excellent choice for anyone needing both exterior and interior video coverage. The front camera’s 4K video quality is outstanding, capturing sharp details that make a big difference in identifying important information like license plates. The cabin camera’s 1080p resolution and infrared night vision ensure clear recordings inside the car, even in low light. The built-in GPS and WiFi make it easy to track your routes and manage footage directly from your phone. The setup was simple, and the wide-angle lenses cover a lot of ground both inside and outside the vehicle. Whether you’re a rideshare driver or just want extra security, this dash cam is a great investment. Highly recommended!

Reliable and Affordable – The Rexing Way

I would consider the R316 dashcam package by Rexing a great value for your money. You get a front dashcam and a cabin-facing camera in this package. While no rear dash camera is included, the front dashcam and cabin-facing camera will do enough to cover the most important parts, the front and part of the back. Now that I have been using this dashcam for about a week, I have found that this dash camera has been an excellent investment for my vehicle. I am not new to Rexing products. In another vehicle, I have installed and used a Rexing V33. All I can say is that Rexing cameras are reliable, easy to use, and are worthy investments. That one is about two years old and still works as well as the day I installed it in my vehicle. The R316 can either be hard-wired or powered via the car’s cigarette lighter power outlet. I chose the latter as it was a quicker setup. The dash camera is mounted with a suction cup mount. Before hooking up your camera to power, slide in the SD Card and plug it into power. Setup was easy and took about 20 minutes which included prep, cleaning, and cable management. The R316 is looking like one of those that will stand the test of time. Along with reliability (so far), video quality is great. The front camera records in 4k resolution while the cabin camera records in 1080p which is still good quality. Night-time quality is clear as well. A 64GB microSD card is included. Although, just like my V33, I did find that storage does fill up quickly (I drive a lot). If it is in your budget, I certainly recommend buying a 128GB or 256GB SD card. Just make sure the SD card is “High Endurance.” These SD cards support constant rewriting which is what you want for a dash camera. Overall, the R316 has been a reliable dash camera thus far. I do appreciate how the dash camera is not distracting and doesn’t take up a lot of space on your windshield. I also appreciate Rexing for providing the ENTIRE package without having to buy any additional items. Yes, there is no rear camera, but I have found that the cabin-facing camera does cover a decent portion of the rear. I drive an SUV with large rear windows so that likely helps with rear coverage. Regardless, a rear camera is available for purchase if it is needed. If you are looking for a reliable and affordable dashcam package, you cannot go wrong with this one.

    Every vehicle should have one

Vehicle technology has changed a lot over the decades since I started driving, one such technology being dashcams. I imagine someday dashcams will be standard equipment on all vehicles, just like backup cameras are now. But until that time comes we’ll have to continue to install our own; fortunately there are a number of options to pick from, some good and some bad. Bestbuy, partnered with Rexing, is currently offering one such option in the Rexing R316. I’ll share with you my experiences to date with this Rexing model to better help you decide if it’s right for you. Packaging Everything was well packed in the box and upon opening it I looked the camera over for cosmetic damage and found nothing wrong with it. Setup If you want the setup to be as easy as possible, then you can simply plug it in and accept all of the camera's default settings, and you're pretty much done. On the other hand if you're like me then you're going to need to explore every menu in the camera to see what it offers. Instruction manual I found the instruction manual good from the standpoint of grammar and clarity. Where the manual comes up short is in explaining what (all) of the icons on the screen relate to. Consequently I had to do a little online searching Accessories The cord on the cigarette lighter plug was long enough for me to plug it in the sockets that serve the backseats of my truck. A micro SD memory card and adapter are included (64GB). The Smart Hardwire Kit for the G Sensor I’ve yet to hook up. Suction cup mount A suction cup mount has both its advantages and disadvantages. One of its advantages is that it can be easily moved from one vehicle to another. This might be important for people that frequently switch vehicles for work and like to bring their camera along. On the down side they do tend to detach from the windshield a bit more than the models that have a taped on bracket. Image quality Image quality is what it all boils down to, Image quality can be somewhat subjective as there are many variables to consider. I've even seen bad reviews almost submitted, until the reviewer realized the lens protector was still on. Overall I'm satisfied with the quality of video obtained as it shows the degree of detail I think is important. As a very general rule of thumb, if you buy a cheap camera, you get low quality video, not something you particularly want if you're dealing with an insurance company. Cabin facing camera A cabin facing camera is new to me, and once I get over the paranoia of being recorded all the time I believe I’ll like it. Just remember a cabin facing camera is not the same as a rear facing camera, which can be purchased as an option. Overall, for the short amount of time I've used the camera, I've found it performed as advertised. I presently own one other Rexing camera and the only issue I’ve had with it are WiFi connectivity issues.

    Another excellent cam from Rexing

    Posted .

Dual Channel Coverage: This Rexing R316 dash cam can record both the front of the road and the inside of your car at the same time, ensuring that you have a complete view of everything happening inside and outside your vehicle. It is a little bit bigger than other cameras however if you place it somewhat behind your rear view mirror (on passenger side), it won't become a distraction. 4K + 1080p High-Resolution Clarity: It features a 4K ultra HD camera for the front view and a 1080p HD camera for the cabin, offering extremely clear and detailed videos, which is especially important for capturing things like license plates and road signs, even in low-light conditions. Dual-Band Wi-Fi & App Integration: You can easily transfer and manage your videos through dual-band Wi-Fi, making it convenient to access your footage using the Rexing Connect app on both iPhones and Android devices. Definitely a plus! GPS Enabled Suction Cup Mount: The dash cam comes with a suction cup mount that has a built-in GPS module, which helps keep the camera in place and accurately tracks your location, providing valuable travel data. It can be moved to other vehicles such as when you're taking another car or renting one on a trip. Extended Memory & Storage: It includes a 32GB Micro SD card and can hold up to 256GB, so you can store a large amount of video without constantly needing to clear space. I would definitely recommend upgrading to a larger one however check their website for recommended microSD cards because not all cards are equal. Advanced Parking Mode: The dash cam has a 24-hour parking mode that uses motion and impact sensors to automatically record any events around your car, giving you protection against potential theft or accidents even when you're not around. With the amount to people snooping around late at night or driver's backing up into your vehicle, this feature can definitely come in handy when needed. Rexing USA offers high-quality products with an 18-MONTH WARRANTY (parts and labor) if you register the product. It's 12 months if you don't register it. I have owned numerous Rexing dash cameras from the earlier 1080p versions to 4K one. One more nice camera from the people at Rexing.

If your in the market for a dash cam look no further than this Rexing R316 as it is amazing! This model records both front and cabin views, with 4K resolution for the front and 1080p for the cabin, so you’re fully covered in case of any incidents. The installation was super easy because it's not integrated with the rearview mirror or any of that fancy stuff like some others which I like because it’s just EASY. I thought it’s pretty cool that this actually comes with a 64GB microSD card and a wire kit included, so you’re ready to go right out of the box plug and play. The dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4G/5G), built-in GPS, and the fact that it uses a Type-C charging make it modern and compatible with a variety of setups you may want to use it in. I’ve found the app control useful for quick access to recorded videos or adjusting settings, and the IR night vision is great for recording clear footage even in low light. The camera also has modular capabilities if you want to add up to three channels, which is pretty neat for expanding coverage later on if you choose. The 3.16” IPS screen is a nice size for checking footage on the spot when needed, and the wide 170° angle lens up front captures a broad view of the road. Features like auto on/off, loop recording, and collision sensing give it an edge for safety and convenience vs others in this category. So far, it’s been a reliable setup for both daily driving and long trips, providing a full package for safety, especially with parking monitoring and no need for batteries. Definitely a solid choice for a dash cam if you’re in the market!

The Rexing R316 is a windshield-mount dash cam featuring both forward and cabin-facing cameras in one small, compact unit. Measuring just 5" x 2" x 1.5" it virtually disappears into your windshield, yet still boasts a 3" display. It mounts easily to the windshield via suction-cup style mounting - so much better than 2-sided tape! The suction cup can be easily moved, yet holds the unit securely in place. It maintains a steady view of the road even over bumps and railroad tracks. The windshield mount is equipped with a GPS module which provides precision tracking. The unit is powered by a USB-C to accessory plug cord but I found that it also works with a USB-C to USB cord as well. The 4K forward camera and the 1080p cabin camera produce clear picture/video, even in low-light/nighttime driving and capture both exterior and interior views simultaneously. Rexing makes it easy to view your video files with the INCLUDED 64mb microSD card AND micro SD adapter. No need to run to the store, or search "that drawer" for an adapter to view your files - it's ready to go straight out of the box. The unit also includes a hard-wire kit which allows you to utilize the 24-hour parking mode. This automatically starts recording whenever it detects motion or impact. Rexing provides an 18-month warranty and 24/7 customer/technical support. This would be a great dash-cam for rideshare drivers as it provides great video in such a small package. And best of all, Rexing offers all of this without a subscription fee!

This dash cam is top-tier convenience all around! If you're looking for a front-end and interior dashcam combo you can't go wrong with the R316. It records the front end of your vehicle in 4k and the cabin in 1080p. The image quality is crisp and of course, it has a night mode. The Rexing Connect app is extremely intuitive and user-friendly. You connect the dashcam to the app on your phone and you're able to access all the videos it has recorded and saved. You can even download them to your phone. The installation was also a breeze. The suction cup mechanic makes it easy to test out and place where you want the dashcam in case you're not sure where the best viewing angle is. The fact that it came with all the wiring I needed to connect it to my vehicle was immeasurably appreciated. Whether you want to hardwire it into the car or if you just want to use the power outlet so you can switch between vehicles, Rexing has you covered. Something absolutely worth mentioning, there is no service fee for having and using this product. All your videos are stored locally on the SD card where you can freely access them through your phone. This alone makes this dashcam worth it to me. Additionally, the included 64GB SD card is appreciated and I found it to be more than enough memory for the amount of driving I do. Your situation might require more so just keep that in mind. Regardless, I don't see myself ever needing another dashcam unless this one bites the dust haha. I definitely recommend it!!

We wanted a dash cam for our teenage son that is easy to use, not distracting while driving, and provides the necessary proof if he ever experiences an accident. We couldn’t be happier with this device!! The Rexing R316 4K dash cam works great. It was easy to setup, and came with clear instructions. It simply suction cups to the windshield and plugs in with the provided adapter, or can be hard wired if desired. The front facing camera works great both day and night, and the cabin facing camera is just as good. Although I haven’t experienced it yet, and hopefully never will, it offers an auto recording if it senses an accident. The 64GB micro SD is plenty large because it has a continuous loop recording. The App is easily synchronized with the device, and the WiFi connection makes it simple to connect the device to my phone. Also, I live in 100+ degrees during the summer months, and haven’t experienced any temperature issues yet. I would definitely recommend this device to anyone looking for an all-in-one dashcam, that’s easy to set up and use.

I've used a few dash cams in my time and while this one is not the best one of the bunch it's also far from the worst. On a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is practically useless and 10 is angels singing kind of good I'd put this one from Rexing at a solid 9. This dash cam from Rexing has excellent picture quality is very much above average for a dash cam in the price range. When installing this cam I highly recommend reading the instructions. If you've installing dash cams before you'll probably be like me feeling that you do not need and instructions. Trust me, you will. You'll also thank me later for saving you and hour of your life when you can't figure out why it's going wrong. Thankfully Rexing included MicroSD card for you adding something you'd need to buy separately which you'll need to get any videos from the camera to your computer. Quick word of advice here, the first time you're going to use the camera use it to format the card. Again, you'll thank me later if you do this. With a solid picture quality, especially at night, and an otherwise ease of use you really cannot go wrong choosing this dash cam.
