      Hello Chocolate,

We understand how important it is to have your device installed to secure your home. The Ring Floodlight Camera is intended to be hardwired to a 110-240V outdoor junction box. We are here to help you find a home security solution that works best for you.

A good alternative to this device is the Ring Spotlight Camera - Wired. This camera also features bright security lights to illuminate the area you are trying to monitor. It is powered by a power cable that plugs into a standard AC outlet for non-stop power.

For a totally wireless solution, we recommend the Spotlight Camera - Battery. As the name suggests, it's powered by a Ring Quick Release Battery and can be mounted almost anywhere.

For more information on these devices, please see our Spotlight Cameras section here: https://ring.com/security-cameras.

Please visit our community forum at https://community.ring.com/, for some additional tips and support.

      All the best,
      Marlom at Ring Ring

I got this installed 8 days ago. I had my guy install this during the day. Everything looked fine and great. As night approached there was a huge problem. The first night, the lights were not going off! No motion at all. The finally shut off later that night. So the second night comes along. What happens? The exact opposite! The lights would not come on! So I decided to call their support team. I was on with this very nice lady for about an hour. The end result? She fixed it by pushing an update from her side. I guess it was a special type of update, because it showed no new updates on my app. So it's been working great ever since. The lights are pretty bright for my driveway. The camera has very good quality (Especially during the day). The intercom works pretty well. The siren is a nice feature too. If you see something suspicious, you can sound it off within the app. While the alarm is not the loudest, it is loud enough. Android app on my Note 8 works very well. Setup was easy for the guy who put it in. Overall I love this. But it should of worked out of the box. Hence, the 4 stars. The device itself when working is fantastic. And my home feels more secure combined with my ring pro doorbell. Case it point, very solid offering by Ring. Customer support was great.

In the past month, I have purchased 2 Ring floodlights, and one Video doorbell 2. The floodlights were installed by an electrician, the doorbell, I installed. I am very pleased with all of the items, although I did have problems with connecting one of the floodlight to my wifi. It is connected to a chime and works just fine. All of the products have given me a sense of security. After I save some more money, I intend on purchasing 2 solar spotlight cameras. My house will then be completely covered. If you feel unsafe, or just want to moniter your property, purchase these products! You will not regret it. Money well spent!

Installing the floodlight was really easy since I was just swapping out the old floodlight. Had a small issue connecting the floodlight cam to the WIFI because Ring does not allow special characters in the password. The video is good quality, and the motion zones are quite large if desired. I had to dial back the motion and light zones because passing cars were activating it.

    So far, so good

I had been researching the various different Wifi, hard wired, and wireless cameras that are currently on the market, and none of them had all positive reviews. I decided to go with the Ring flood light camera and told myself that if it didn't work, at least I'd have a high priced new flood light. Installation was fairly easy, and the set up on the app was very easy. I noticed that the app had only 2 stars when I downloaded it, so I was a bit scared. So far, I haven't had many issues. As far as the camera and flood light go, it has worked well. I was amazed at the clarity and the wide angle view when I pulled the live view up on my phone. my existing flood light was mounted on the bottom side of the edge of my roof, and I had to do a lot of positioning to get the light and camera angles that I wanted. I liked how you can change the motion zones to eliminate unnecessary motion alerts. I had rather low expectations about this, so I didn't get too disappointed. My only gripes were that when objects are moving quickly, the image has to catch up, and you don't get ALL motion alerts. What I mean, is that you may not get a motion alert, but when you open the app, it shows motion was detected but the alert just wasn't sent. This doesn't happen a lot, but occasionally. That being said, we really like this and will purchase the Ring camera next.

    Great Product/Easy Install

I purchased the Ring floodlight cam last week and finally installed it today. Prior to purchase, I had to extend the range of my Spectrum wifi because the placement of the floodlight had a weak wifi signal. My Ring doorbell also had a weak signal. I installed a Luxul access point in my garage and ran a CAT 5 wire from my router (under the house) to the garage. Once it was set up the wifi signal was strong. I removed my existing motion sensor floodlight and replaced it with the Ring Floodlight cam. Easy installation and easy to set up with the Ring app. Now the wifi signal on the floodlight and the doorbell are strong. So far no issues to report with the floodlight cam. I created my motion zones on the app for the floodlight and works perfect.

I bought two ring flood light camera but now I am really feeling guilty for that. that is really not worth to but ring flood light camera. if we want just regular flood light then ring is work as regular flood light. we can not completely believe on its motion detection. I have installed one in backyard and one in the front side at garage door have very strong internet like fios gigabyte network also have orbi router and 2 satellite to extend the network. ring app shows network is very good.ring have lots of issues like not detecting motion all time we can not say when but I had 4-5 incident when lawn doctor came in to cut lawn but didnt detected that time. that i know because I was sure lawn doctor was there. what if we dont know some one come and not detecting.so long story short is it not reliable or 100% trustable security product. also for light many time when I turned on from the app and then I can not turned off from the app. I have to them turned off main backer and turned on this incident occurring almost twice in a month. I have contacted so many times to ring people and they always asked me to check network speed, and that was fine. also resetting the flood light (that is really not good as I need ladder all time to reset camera ) after eset works fine for few days and start same problem again. So tired with troubleshoot steps. they have sent me replacement one time and found same issue in that too. they asked me to check electric suppy. I had hired certified electrician to check that wiring two times and spend $ 1100 for that only. but same issue. wish i can get refund and can buy something strong security devices like from nest or ADT.

    If only it didn't suck

The idea of this product is a great one. And when in works, it works well - great concept. But as you have likely read from the other reviews, there are too many issues with the cam. Ours is mounted up on the side of our home. Problem is that whenever it goes out/loses the wifi signal, it involves dragging a ladder out and taking my life into my own hands to press the reset button or hold it for 15 seconds. Mine seems to lose wifi every few weeks. I hate to say it sucks, but it is what it is. For a $250 camera, another couple of hundred to have it installed, and a wifi booster in close proximity so that it will work at all, I'm several hundred in for a product that misses its mark. I would go in another direction if you're thinking about this one.

After someone smashed out one of my car's windows I decided to take action. So I purchased 2 floodlight cameras plus the doorbell camera. Since their installation I've had no problems with any of these products. The picture quality is above what I expected and I've had no problems with the wifi connection. I've already caught on video someone snooping around my property. So I just set off the built in siren and he immediately left my property. We recently had a wind storm and the blowing leaves set off the alerts, so all I did was set the snooze for 2 hours to avoid unwanted alerts. I am very happy with my purchase of these products.

NICE patio light replacement! We bought and installed at the same time as our Ring doorbell. It has been a nice compliment to our home. These LED motion activated lights work well. We had to make one adjustment, this light/camera is on a switch, so we had to condition ourselves not to use that switch any longer. I ended up buying a switch cover to help with that. My wife enjoys keeping an eye out for stray cats around our house!

    Bad Cam

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bad Wi-Fi Cam; I purchased this floodlight Cam for extra security due to the built in camera. I installed the floodlight cam and the floodlights work great but the camera does not. After working with Ring Tech Support, who are learning and will not call you back once you connect with them; after they know they can’t help you. I tried working with support because the camera does not pick up (record) images when people walk in front of the camera at my house. I found out that this camera needs a very strong Wi-Fi connection, so they say, for it to record properly. They sent me a Chime Pro, which is a Wi-Fi extender that they sell for about $50. My Wi-Fi Router is about 40 ft. away from my Floodlight Cam, I added the Chime Pro in between, about 20 between both; the floodlight still does not record properly. I wanted to add another Chime Pro but I was told you can only have one Chime Pro (Wi-Fi Extender) per setup. So I added my own Wi-Fi Extender to my system. I placed my extender about 27 ft. from my router which is about 13 ft. from my Floodlight Cam and it still does not work. I ran Wi-Fi signal test around the area of the Floodlight Cam and even further in front of my house on the sidewalk; my Wi-Fi signal is great but the Floodlight Cam still does not recorder properly. I have tried contacting Ring Tech support and they will not return a call, I have sent 3 different Tech support rep’s numerous e-mails and none of them have responded. To add to the sadness of this device, this morning (11/1/17) I had the police knock on my door to tell me that a woman was assaulted on my street and the suspect walked in front of my house. The police wanted to know if I could show them any video from my camera to try and ID this suspect but the Floodlight Cam had nothing. Bottom line is that this Floodlight Cam is not presented properly so be aware!

    Overall Very Good

The product was easy enough to install. And with the Chime Pro extenders we have pretty good connection. My biggest complaints are the occasional connection time to see what's happening when I get a notification. The light is fairly bright but honestly the flood lights we used to have were way brighter. That being said the infrared is awesome and you still get great night vision. I wish there was a way to increase the volume output of the siren and the speaker (which also has a lag). A trespasser was on my property and because of the lag I couldn't speak live but I did sound the siren. He was undeterred. I hit the panic button on my car alarm and that moved him away. If you want more visibility when you are away, this is definitely a good choice.
