    Amazing doorbell

I was hesitant on purchasing a battery powered doorbell but this product has laid that to rest. It works terrific and the battery has been quite good so far. It has been 5 weeks and the battery is still above a quarter of the charge with motion alerts on and set to low sensitivity. The camera captures very nice quality video and has a great field of view. Set up was fairly easy but I the app is a little slow to respond to certain changes like chime tones. The response time on alerts to my phone has also been very good. I do have a very strong wireless connection set up for the device however. The basic subscription at $30 per year is also affordable in my opinion. It seems like a reasonable price to be able to record and save alerts without the need of a physical storage device. Overall this is has been a great investment and is optimized pretty well at the moment.

Laggy, buggy, and sometimes just doesn't work.

We bought into the Ring hype recently, and installed multiple doorbell 2 units and chimes. It's been nothing but a headache since. The Ring system requires a cloud service, and it will actually just stop working if there are any problems anywhere in between. After fighting with it for days to make it work at all and working with support who only seems to be trained enough to blame your WIFI, we finally got it working with good signal strength. The first problem, the Ring Doorbells couldn't communicate with the WIFI it was assigned too because there was another WIFI network in close proximity that interfered with it even though it was on a different channel. The Ring extenders don't allow you to set the WIFI channel, so the only way to correct poor signal to an extender is to relocate the extender somewhere that it doesn't conflict with your neighbor's WIFI or to not use an extender at all. Lesson learned. The next problem is the lag. Many times people come to the door, and the Ring device notifies 30-60 seconds later if not longer. It's rare that a notification event happens within a few seconds. There are times when we've come in the door, and walked all the way to the other side of the house before the event hits. Other times, it never comes in at all. Again, support blames your WIFI rather than their own awful cloud service. Right now, my front doorbell 2 has an RSSI of 45 and my ISP bandwidth measures 75/10 but if you wave your hand in front of the doorbell it'll be a solid 30 seconds before the chime on the other side of the door goes off, and it could be a minute before you get the notification on your phone. Half the time you answer the doorbell on your device, you'll get a black video with the controls overlay. If you stop and restart the app, it'll sometimes fix that. Sometimes it won't. At times when you answer the doorbell or just select live video it'll hang at sending credentials or activating the device. If you look at the doorbell on another device at the same time, it'll report healthy. Even looking past all of that, they didn't bother to scale their cloud systems in preparation of Halloween last night resulting in a huge outage. It's hard to know if there are kids at your door if nothing happens when they ring the doorbell. What made it worse was the fact that they had these really cool halloween sounds, but none of the kids got to hear them. As I was writing this review, an Amazon delivery came. The person rang the doorbell, left the package, went to his car, and drove off before the notification came through. That’s just not acceptable for the amount of money you spend on this system. The bottom line, I really wanted to like the Ring system but due to the amount of latency, the number of missed chimes, the constant failing video, and their support only being able to blame on my personal WIFI and ISP, I'll be returning it and getting my money back.

Great video and pics also has motion and if you don't have an existing door bell the uses electrical wire well it's ok because it come with a battery pack that works just as good as electric wires you just have to take the battery out and charge it using your usb cord that comes with it but you will not have to do that for about every 4 to 5 months try it i did thumbs up

The ring has been a great addition during the holiday season. Not only does it let me know when the doorbell has been rang, but it sends a notification when there is motion. From a security standpoint, that is nice. The quality of video is good and covers a large area. The bonus that I wasnt expecting is the neighborhood watch. There is a blog of events around town so that we can work together to fight crime. Negative - there is a battery, although it lasts quite a while and you have to pay a monthly service charge to keep recordings. Overall a good product

We love our new Ring! We installed it directly into the existing doorbell outlet (extremely simple and I was only electrocuted once!). This has amazing video quality and is simple to use and set motion parameters. When I'm at work and my family are at home, it's nice to know we have another way for protection and being able to answer the door.

The Ring Video Doorbell 2 is a solid product that works as advertised. It was fairly easy to install on a stucco exterior surface, although the included drill bit was the wrong size. The video quality is quite good. I strongly recommend purchasing the optional doorbell, which plugs into an AC outlet inside the house. We use the one with the wife extender. The doorbell, with the app and doorbell, is a valuable product. The annual cost of retaining video for playback is only $30. I also recommend purchasing a second battery so that you can swap batteries when one needs recharging without losing functionality. We're quite happy with this product.

Ring Doorbell 2 overview after 1 month of use. Daytime video is nice and clear and provides a very wide viewing area. The motion detection area and sensitivity is fully customizable and works very well as long as you have a strong wifi signal. The nighttime video is OK but much harder to make out anything beyond 10 feet. If you have a porch light or other lighting outside it does help a lot. EI The videos are stored in a cloud storage and are 30 seconds each. Ring charges you $3 per month or $30 per year, per camera, after your 30 day trial is up. The doorbell can still be used live, but for it to save any videos you have to pay the fee. In order to hear the doorbell without always having your phone with you, a chime must also be purchased (unless you have an Echo device), so factor that into the cost as well. Overall I find it very useful and cool that I can access live view at any time and see what's going on at the porch. Although people complain about the monthly fees, to Ring's credit, they also have a $10/month or $100/year plan that provides 60 day cloud storage for unlimited cameras and also full monitoring of the Ring alarm system if you have one. That is an absolute steal of a deal. And, that plan also includes lifetime replacement warranty on all the Ring products (so no need for Geek Squad, sorry Best Buy).

good camera not the best quality. Movement doesn't always trigger sensor & has a slow delay to respond these times are many and reason why I've decided to continue using it. It does the job however could definitely improve on the quality. Regardless I've noticed it has made a difference with people as some have actually walked away as soon as they realize it's the Ring.

The directions are very easy to follow and understand. Installing on my IPhone was a breeze and the picture you receive is perfect. Installing by the front door was also very easy. Was a little more than I wanted to pay but looks now like money well spent, as the front door now is well protected now.

Replaced doorbell with the Ring doorbell. Setup was straight forward and easy. Be sure to allow time for the battery to charge before installing (takes several hours). Once battery was charged connection to home wifi was easy. Next step was to remove old doorbell and connect the ring doorbell. You will need to download the Ring app to your phone as well. This can be done while battery is charging. Final steps are to adjust the motion sensor to the area you want covered by using the ring app. Picture quality is very good and the ability to talk to the person outside from anywhere in the world is a great feature.

    Liking it so Far...

I got this RING last week and I was waiting for a technician to help me with the installation (of course would have to pay for the service) and I just couldn't wait for him, I opened the box and with a little help from youtube I did it myself IT IS SO EASY TO INSTALL... wanted to replace my actual mechanical ring bell and It was really easy to setup and install. Liking it so far, I am still playing with the configuration. I am getting alerts at 2 or 3 in the morning because of the sensor, but I guess I just need to adjust the motion sensor... The most thing that i like about it is that I own a Amazon Echo show and I can see who is at the front door and answer without lifting a finger.

right now it serves as a purpose everytime i'm away from home,i would be able to see who's at my front door because it notifies me if there's motion going on.i know for a fact that,i will be having issues since it's a wifi connection but i can deal with it because it all depends upon the speed of your internet and the location of your router.i would not recommend this for a 24/7 surviellance use since wifi is an issue here.as of this time i have minimal issues regarding this doorbell.with regards to the battery everyhing turn out to be good.i have this camera for a week now and i'm planning of keeping it.if you want a very reliable surveillance cameras there's plenty of them out there and i would recommend the wired ones if your looking for a better quality that you can monitor remotely and locally.other than that this camera works as what it said and i'm a satisfied customer.

Good doorbell!! Better than Ring stick up camera

First we had the ring stick up cam, that worked only half of the time. It wouldn’t load to live feed, we would only get sporadic notifications . We had that for two weeks when I took it back and exchanged it for the doorbell and the doorbell works 100% better! I wish the night vision went beyond my porch, that is my only complaint (porch light makes no difference, as I tried!!) we’ve had this for two weeks and only one time it did not pick up a delivery that we had, not sure why. But I highly recommend it!!

I was in the surveillance business for 35 years and recently closed down my business. Cameras used to sell for Hundreds of dollars and now they are less than $100 is much more capable than the technology are used to sell. This camera was very easy to set up no router port forwarding or anything like we had to do in the past. $30 annual fee to record and store video on the cloud is a bargain! If you do not have power the battery will last up to three months on normal activity. A highly recommend ring !

Bought two of these for a new house and they are clearer than the first version. Nice to have the battery pack option since one area does not have hardwired doorbell. Also learned they have a solar kit to keep the battery charged from the sun.

Pretty easy to install the Ring-video doorbell 2 and get it hooked up to our phones. This doorbell has a battery pack so you don't need to have a hard-wired doorbell already which is nice. Seems to work pretty well at notifying when someone's at the door and the video is pretty responsive when you use the live view. Doesn't pick up movement quite as far as we'd like in our situation, but not bad. Overall it's a pretty nifty and useful piece of equipment. Happy with it so far.

My concerns about the install were quickly alleviated when I opened the box. Instructions are embarrassingly simple and easy to follow. They even give you an extra screw in case you drop it. I've never had a product this easy to install. It works great, but it takes some tinkering with the width of the motion field so you don't pick up cars passing by. That said, this is also simple and easy to do. What I want to rave about is the customer support. I had one issue where my Nu-Tone mechanical doorbell didn't agree with the Ring. I called Ring support and Angele was so patient and helpful in resolving the issue. Angele would not hang up until we fixed it. I was on the fence about what outside camera I was going to buy. Not any longer, I'm all in for the Ring Floodlight.

I bought this to keep an eye on the outside of my house, to know who's coming and going during the day. So far it works very well, keeping an eye on the property is important. The image on the camera is pretty good, speaking through the device is also pretty cool. Battery life has been good so far, install was pretty easy, not much to it. Keep in mind there is a monthly fee to keep the recordings in the cloud starting at $3 per month. Highly recommend.

I like the Ring camera bell but it’s a little bit small for a big house. The camera is clear and you can adjust the settings on your app for when you want to be pinged by movement or someone at your door. There are larger sizes available too!
