    Fun with Laura Croft

This is a great game that builds nicely on the original Tomb Raider (2013) and while nothing is as groundbreaking in Rise of the Tomb Raider (ROTTR) it is far more expansive, bordering on an action RPG. It has a much more deep customization tree with different kinds of loot required for each upgrade (instead of just salvage). This game actually makes hunting worth your time. ROTTR also has side quests that are long enough to be engaging and interesting, instead of the just the same "Find X and bring X to Y" cookie cutter quest. The graphics are gorgeous on a regular PS4 and I'm sure they are better on PS4 Pro or mind blowing on PC. Gameplay is smooth and it's really fun to use the bow. I don't get as much satisfaction out of the guns but I really like they included a bolt action rifle, which fits my play style a lot better than a AK-47. This 20 year celebration edition also gives Laura tons of outfits, which is really fun. The packaging is also beautiful for this edition. Overall, it's a really fun Tomb Raider experience. If you like adventure games you will love Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Anyone that played the first Tomb Raider reboot game will be thrilled for this one. My only complaint is that it comes in a cardboard book instead of a plastic or metal case like or normal games. It's also like a centimeter taller than other PS4 games, and it's asthetically displeasing

Just received it this week so still only half completed, but I wanted to post to anyone who might be hesitating which ps4 game to purchase next, don't hesitate to add this to your collection. I played through the last installment countless times on my old PS3 and it was one of my all time favorites. It's a shame we had to wait a year for the PS4 version to be released, but I'm just glad it finally happened. The game play, story line, weapons and detail are all improved and state of the art and the controls remain very intuitive. I like also, that on those occasions I wind up being defeated in a skirmish, I don't have to go back and replay a long sequence to get back to where I was without constantly doing manual saves. It takes me back to just before I was overwhelmed, or missed a jump and plummeted down some ravine, or was skewered in a spear- lined drop pit. I read reviews critical of Laura's personality being bland or changed in this sequel. I have no idea what those reviewers thought changed, but if anything, she seems more confident and self assured. My only complaint is that I have to be careful when I start to play a section, because I can easily look at the clock and groan that somehow it's 3 a.m. and I need to get up for work the next day. But that's the beauty of getting so immersed in the story that you forget about the time and your surroundings. Highly recommended, especially now that the price has retreated to the usual 20 dollars less than the release price a month or two after release. (I paid the full price and still know it was a good value since I'll replay it many times until the next sequel.)

I have purchased this game after I played Tomb Raider Definitive Edition. I liked the game TRDE gameplay storytelling and the cinematic cut scenes. Though I didn't play a lot of side quests in TRDE, I was more focused on finishing the main quest. But I thoroughly enjoy every sec of it. SO I've decided to buy this game. Though it arrived one year late on PS4, the graphics are way matured and more detailed. The story is intriguing, I couldn't stop playing the game. You'll definitely enjoy this even if you had not played any before from this series.

    The Best Yet

Great gm. Tons of fun. Recently bought a ps4 that came with Uncharted. Also got Arkham Knight. Two phenomenal gms. But once I got Rise of the Tomb Raider it became my number one. The makers stuck with the blueprint of the previous incarnation and expanded on it, in a good way. The cut scenes are seamless and it seems to strike the perfect balance between action and adventure. There's almost an unlimited things too do. From exploring caves, tombs, side missions, combat (just to name a few) and finding documents that help u find even more things, this is a epic game. You could literally spend 1000 hours uncover everything. Fortunately, if ur not willing to put that much time into it you still can finish in a fraction of time by sticking to the main missions. Nice touch when Lara gives u helpful hints if ur stuck and she'll look at things of interest. The bad- It is a little buggy. Enemy solders freeze up or even disappear into thin air. There is some 'pop in' with the background and the gm did freeze up on me once. The map is a bit of a weakness. With the over head view, it does require some abstract thinking determining where things are in relation to Lara. Besides all that its still super fun. I'd say its the best Tomb Raider yet!

Excellent game. It is never dull. Good story, absolutely fun from start to finish with a good replay value to go back and get all the trophies. Also has the VR and normal new mission as well as all the previously released premium downloadable content and another mission. Plus there's challenge modes and such which give even more replay value — with the omission of multiplayer this time around, which is fine by me. Great job by Crystal Dynamics yet again in rebooting this franchise for Squarenix

Excellent game. I am really enjoying this game. This game is worth getting. It is a lot of fun. It was very hard for me to put the game down. I love the puzzles. I highly recommend getting it. You will not be disappointed. Excellent graphics on PS4 PRO & on 4k tv, immersive gameplay, gripping story, better stealth. Badass Lara Croft

I've really enjoyed the Tomb Raider reboots. They have a very Uncharted feel to them and that definitely works. The stories are fun, the controls are responsive, and the graphics are beautiful. That being said, One thing I really liked about the first Tomb Raider reboot was that searching for all the collectables did not really pull me out of the main story. I did not have to devote tons of time to searching out documents, artifacts, caches, and specific crafting goods. I am a bit of a completionist, and I really liked how the first Tomb Raider balanced the hidden bonuses with the story. There was enough to keep you exploring an area without completely pulling you out to go around collecting. That is the reason I have given Rise of the Tomb Raider 4 out of 5 stars. There have been multiple times were collecting and challenges have completely disengaged me from the storyline. Some people may enjoy that aspect of a game, but I really like gaming for the adventure the story takes me through. Being pulled out for hours at a time to go on a collection spree often killed the urgency of what I was doing. I still really enjoyed the game and, I would recommend it to ANYONE, but I wish the collecting would have fit into the story a little better.

I really enjoyed this game. I usually don't like action/ adventure, so I was surprised by how much fun I had. The combat is well done and the combat encounters give you multiple ways to approach as situation. There are a lot of weapons that you can purchase, or uncover, and it's always fun to find a new one. The exploration is really well done, and you are rewarded for doing so. The optional tombs are really well done and have interesting puzzles and rewards. The game has a sort of open world with large area to explore (where secrets like crypts or tombs are hidden), and the game encourages you to come back by locking things behind new skills. The story is standard action/adventure with some "lost" artifact that needs to be found. There are side characters involved, but they are not really developed throughout the story. The plot itself is serviceable. All in all a really enjoyable game.

I am hugely impressed with this game. I thought it was going to be plagued with the camera problems from the previous one, but none of that exists now. The story in this game is very compelling, as well as the acting. There are tons of things to do and even the "optional" tombs and missions are a lot of fun. It's very easy to get sidetracked from the main mission, but it's a blast to do so. I am playing this on a PS4 Pro, as well as a 4k TV, and the graphics are fantastic. I've not had any issues with frame rate tearing. This is one of those games that you'll get many hours out of.

Next Gen HD Tomb Raiding Awesomeness

Up front I'm still playing so this is only a review of the first few hours. That being said what I have played is amazing! This is the first next gen Tomb Raider (the last modern game was PS3 and Xbox 360) and it shows in the shadows and lighting effects, you can see their are textures and details that just pop out of the environments; hair effects on Lara's ponytail are still hit or miss though it's a minor gripe. If you played the reboot simply called Tomb Raider on PS3 or Xbox 360 (or that HD remaster they dropped on PS4 and XBone) then you know what you are in for this time: exploring a big map for ammo, resources, hidden treasure, etc. but this time there are also side quest tombs which have you solving traversal puzzles to get from point A to point B using climbing, jumping, and thinking. Also you will be revisiting areas previously explored as it has a slight "Metroidvania" aspect of being in a place but not having the right equipment to reach a high ledge or open a jammed door until later in the game. Story at this point revolves around an ancient treasure that Lara's dad was searching for but never found and ultimately discredited him and shamed the Croft name. Lara has finally found clues dad missed and must race to get to the treasure before an evil mercenary group/cult called The Trinity can reach it. Like I said I haven't been at this thing even halfway through but if you like the last Tomb Raider, if you like Uncharted, if you like exploration and light action games then you should love this one.

This latest edition in the Tomb Raider series combines beautiful graphics, more realistic game play, and classic tomb raidin' elements, to amazing effect. I COULD NOT stop playing this game. In fact, I haven't stopped: I am going for 100% completion, if possible. The Fast Travel capability introduced in the last game is invaluable for those of us who want to explore every nook and cranny of the game's environments. Storyline was *slightly* predictable, but all the little details and fun side missions and challenges made up for it. Definitely a fun game.
