TV Mount -- Extra Sturdy

I recently installed this Rocketfish Mount for my tv and it’s great. The installation was easy, but I would recommend getting a taller friend to help.
Honestly, mounts generally scare me. My tv weighs 40 to 50 pounds, and I don’t trust extending the single arm options because I’m afraid I’m going to come home with a hole in my wall and a tv on the ground if I don’t remember to reset it against the wall – worse, with two tweens, the last thing I want is for them to hurt themselves making an adjustment.
This mount really appealed to me because of the two rectangular frames that attach to both the wall and the tv. This mount is sturdy and is rated to 125 pounds and 90” televisions.
I was impressed with how sturdy the mount feels. It’s not light, so this is key for me. My tv is completely secure to the wall, even after I pull it out or adjust the tilt. You'll want to have a reasonably strong and tall friend to help you with the installation. I will mount this higher up on the wall in the future, but an admittedly foolish oversight.
I have also attached a picture of the easy “Wall Mount Template” – a cool feature that helped me confirm that I had the tools that I needed before I got started – it works on installations for both wood or concrete and the other tools needed.
I can adjust the tv to reduce glare from the sun and in the direction that is best for me and my family. It took a little time to get all of the pieces assembled, but now that it's up, it's solid as a rock with no fear of it coming off of the wall.

This is a really nice TV wall mount. It was easy to install, has clear instructions and a wall template for easily marking drilling points and making measurements, and is smooth to use and adjust. My TV is extremely near the maximum capacity for it at 86” and 115lbs, as well as 600x400 VESA which is also the most the mount can accommodate, and while it does have a tiny bit of flex at one spot it is holding up very well so far. I had my screen attached to its stand sitting on my entertainment center for a few years but always lamented the distinct lack of adjustability that setup offered, as well as an unfortunate slight tilt backwards at the top since the stand wasn’t extremely sturdy. Getting a full motion wall mount allowed me to transfer the screen off the entertainment center and get it at the proper height and with a bit of forward tilt for a more cinematic experience. It’s a slight change but it made a dramatic difference. I can also now much more easily access cables whenever I need to make changes since the entertainment center is now independent of the heavy screen sitting on it which is also great. You do have to have a fair number of tools, and decent know how in using them to get it installed properly. One aspect that was a bit tricky is the instructions ask you to measure from the bottom of the screen to the center of the mount that is attached to the tv to figure out how high on the wall to install the other half of the mount, but it doesn’t indicate where exactly that center measurement should be precisely. So, that required a lot of checking and rechecking to make certain I had the numbers right. Its also a bit surprising given the diminutive size of some of the hardware that this mount has such a high weight and size capacity, but it does seem to be able to handle it. Attaching the TV onto the mount was easy due to the triangle shape point for getting it hooked up, but it was nerve-wracking hearing all the settling and creaking right after letting the weight of the TV fully press into it. After that, some light leveling and centering and I had it precisely where I wanted it to be. My big screen looks great on the wall, and I’m happily able to adjust it if necessary and enjoy my home theater experience more than I could before. I don’t think I would recommend maxing it out with an even bigger screen than mine as it does feel like it is already at the limit, but if you have a large screen and want it to live on the wall then this mount is an excellent choice.

I used this for a 55" TV. It allows for substantial rotational movement of the TV from side-to-side with some tilting. It moves easily but is not sloppy. The TV stays firmly in position. Installation was easy. Hooking the frame component installed on the back of the TV onto the hook on the wall mount was simple. We used one person to lift and another to check alignment when lifting it onto the hook. The lift and placement was less than a minute. I used a Best Buy soundbar mount with the frame on the back of the TV and that worked well.

The Rocketfish Full-Motion TV Wall Mount is very sturdy and well built. It holds the TV securely and the full-motion feature makes it easy to adjust the viewing angle in any direction. The extension is smooth and works perfectly for flexible positioning. Installation was straightforward with clear instructions. A great choice for large TVs and highly recommended.

I received the Rocketfish Premium Mount a couple of days ago and had it professionally installed by the Geek Squad. The Rocketfish Premium Mount markets itself as a highly customizable mount, able to be pulled out from the wall and turned in either direction for a nearly 180 degree viewing experience. In addition, the mount can be adjusted side to side for level, and can also be tilted forwards or backwards for a better viewing experience.
The Premium Mount comes with all the hardware needed to mount from from a 42” to a 90” TV, and can support up to 125 pounds. Mounting hardware and brackets support a TV that requires vertical or horizontal rails, so this is a huge plus. I have an 86” TV that ways a little less than 100 pounds, and requires horizontal rail mounting, and the Rocketfish kit worked perfectly. I highly recommend using professional installation to mount the Rocketfish Premium Mount, particularly if you have a large, heavy TV. It is worth the peace of mind to have a professional, such as Best Buy’s very own Geek Squad to handle to assembly and installation.
After the mount was installed and the TV placed on the wall, I had a couple of quick observations. One was the TV was difficult to level and keep level. Fortunately, the manual instructs you how to adjust the levelness of the TV, but every time I would pull the TV out from the wall and make adjustments, when I pushed it back in it would be out of level again. It took me several minutes and attempts before I got it close enough and just said ‘fine.’ The tilt adjustment requires a lot of force to tighten it up before you feel comfortable with using it. I was pulling the TV out from the wall, and suddenly the whole thing tilted towards me. It about gave me a heart attack. I was worried it was coming off on me. Fortunately it hit the stop, but I’m sure it isn’t good on the mount or the TV to quickly tilt forward like that. I had to get some channel locks and use them to tighten the tilt adjustment. I also noticed that the TV moves easily from side to side. Like as in it feels flimsy. I worry about the longevity of the mount due to that flimsy feeling. But over the last few days it has held up fine, so maybe I am being overly sensitive.
Bottom line is the Rocketfish Premium TV Mount works. It is very reasonable priced and highly customizeable. The four star rating is due to the difficulty setting the levelness of the TV, the issues with the tilt function, and the flimsy feeling that does not instill confidence in how well the mount is going to hold up. I would recommend, however, even with this slight misgivings.

This is a review for Rockfish Full-Motion TV Wall Mount. Used to mount a Sony Bravia 75 inch screen that weighs approximately 75 lbs.
First the good news: this is a well built, heavy gauge steel assembly. It’s heavy and very good quality build. Operates smoothly and has plenty of adjustment. I would've given a 5 except:
The bad news: it was missing the template for wall mounting. Had to create my own by tracing the wall bracket on to cardboard. It was also missing the concrete wall assembly kit. I had to contact customer service but they said it would take at least 1 week for shipping and I couldn't wait that long.
In addition, my setup was somewhat unique: two left bolts had to go into wood studs and the other two right into concrete; I tried different locations but kept going back to this spot. Also, I had two layers of sheetrock for a total of 1 inch on both the wood stud part and the concrete wall portion. Customer support could not address these issues. Ended up calling a structural engineer friend and suggested to use galvanized lag screws that were longer by 1 inch and longer concrete shields (had to buy from Home Depot) combined with a 1.5 inch diameter washer between the wall bracket and the sheetrock in order to avoid any possible crushing around the bolts. Once I got the anchorage issue solved, drilling 4.5 inches into a fully cured 10 inch concrete wall was not easy. In any event, after about 4 hours the wall bracket was installed. The instructions were not clear about the relationship of the vertical TV bracket to the horizontal TV brackets (rails). The location of the hanging shelf on the back of the vertical bracket actually determines the final height of the TV. The pictures show it aligned with the horizontal rails but another illustration shows it below the horizontal rails. My TV ended being about 1/2 inch too low since I followed the first illustration which aligned it with the top rail. I may remount the TV later to get it a little higher but take note of this detail that is not fully explained in the manual.
Overall, I am very happy with the quality and the operation of the mount but installation was not that easy, neither was customer support able to address special conditions.

Perfect Wall Mount for Most Big TVs

Rocketfish has introduced their new 42" to 90" TV wall mount. It's an upgrade from the next smallest mount which is for 40"-75" TVs. The box includes the main mount bracket, wall rectangle base, TV attachment arms/center, hardware, and a trusty template/instructions. The mount comes with a manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty.
Disclaimer: Other important tools are needed for installation: Stud finder, drill/bits, level, screwdrivers, wrenches, possibly another person depending on TV weight and angles involved. I used a 55" TV though it can go bigger.
PROS:
-----------
* The mount is heavy-duty. It can handle up to 125 lbs and doesn't waiver even when fully extended.
* If you follow the instructions, it's not very hard to put together. It can be intimidating at first; however, the hardest part is getting the holes perfectly centered on the studs behind the wall. Once you have that, it's a smooth installation after that. Just KNOW where your studs are for both hanging and for cable management if you go behind the sheetrock.
* Can handle VESA patterns from 100x100 to 600x400 which is quite versatile. Some mounts aren't able to accommodate sizes in between.
* Operation was very smooth when moving TV and making minor adjustments to make level or angled.
* Though this mount is made to extend outwards from the wall, it can hug the wall pretty close - slightly less than 3 inches.
* It does have some decent cable management abilities built-in; however black zip ties work easily if you have some areas of concern.
CONS:
-----------
* This mount isn't made for vertical adjustments on the fly... it's mainly for pulling straight out from the wall, turning left/right, and can be angled if the angle adjuster knob is loosened then re-tightened. Just make sure you have the height right the first time.
* I like for there to be an opening in the very center of the rear attachment (where it connects to the rectangle wall "base") for cord management; however, since this center piece is solid, a hole has to be created to the left or right of that area. This would allow power/HDMI cords to be run behind the wall (and down and out another hole below) in a more "centered" configuration rather from one side. This is nit-picking, but just a preference on my part.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS:
-----------
* Know that you must install in studs. A basic wall anchor, no matter how strong, simply will not work, or your TV will be on the ground fast.
* Ensure that your TV has VESA mounting holes. You don't want to have your mount installed and then get to the point where you attach the bars to the TV and say "uh oh, no holes"
CONCLUSION:
=====================
This was my first wall mount as I typically put my TVs on a base or furniture of some sort for ease of use. This application ended up working well for us and in the end, the wife was happy. The template provided was great, and the mount itself is sturdy as a rock. If I had to hang another TV, I'd definitely buy this mount again if the area allowed. Great design overall A+

This is a fantastic mount. It was very easy to install with the included instructions and parts. I was able to easily measure on the wall where I wanted it, level it, drill the holes and then install the mount using the provided lag bolts. The wall mount itself is very sturdy looking and felt sturdy as well. The bolts were also very strong. I mounted a fairly heavy TV (about 65 pounds) and feel comfortable knowing it's not going anywhere.
The fact that the TV can slide on the mount and also be adjusted on the arm as well as tilting. This way I was able to mount it direct to the wall studs without worry about it being perfectly centered, adding to the sturdiness. I was then able to adjust the TV to perfectly center it.
It is also very flexible in tiling and pulling out from the wall (and back in with the arm). Overall, I feel very comfortable that it's not going anywhere and my TV is protected and the mount will last a very long time. It also came with plenty of Vesa compatible screws in case I ever change my TV and want to keep the mount.
