I would not use a stud finder to locate your studs as it says in the instructions. Since this will be holding an expensive television it's important to find the center of the stud so your lag bolts are really getting into the meat of the wood to hold your television. Take the time to find the Center of the stud and just follow the rest of the directions and you will be very happy with this product. One last thing, it's much easier to install if you have another person there to help you.
