    So far so good

I've only owned the game for two days, and so far I have not been able to put it down. I bought the Rocksmith 2014 game with the Gibson Maestro guitar, and I cannot complain about the combination. I have always wanted to learn to play the guitar but could never make the commitment to sitting down and reading a book and couldn't afford to take private lessons. This game in the short time I've owned it has already made me feel like I've improved from knowing absolutely nothing to feeling like I'm getting a handle on playing a real guitar. I was a little nervous at first that it would be a waste of time and money because of my lack of experience, but with the improvement I have seen already, I cannot wait to see where I will be at the end of the "60 day challenge." It's great how they force you to refine certain skills through mini game challenges that make you feel like you are working to beat a high score when in reality you are practicing skills that benefit you in your overall playing. Additionally, when you learn new songs, they start you off as basic as possible, and slowly add a few extra notes to make you think a little more about what you're doing. On the downside, I think they could have done a little better in giving you a little more direction and a few more lessons. I myself being a new guitar player find difficulty in simple things like learning to pick the different strings due to the distance between them and changing my fingers on the fret board to different strings. They do touch on these topics in the lesson section, however, I think they could have gone a bit more in depth to help with these basics. Thankfully, for the picking issue there is the saloon skip mini game. I also find myself when I go to "learn a song" seeing some things that the lessons never touched on. Thankfully they put in the riff repeater option so you can go in and slow the section down to get used to it. Overall, I think it was worth the purchase and I think it will definitely give me a great foundation for guitar playing. I bought the game and guitar separate since the guitar came with lesson DVD's, a small amp, and other little starter things. I don't know if the Rocksmith kit with the guitar includes these items, but if not, I suggest buying them separate since it's the same price for a few extras.

This game builds your skills, and the games section is great. You need to try to play the songs on a regular amp as you might not be playing as "clean" as you can, as the game can sometimes be too forgiving. So don't be a Comedyman, be a guitar man.

What a great piece of software this is! Great for beginners, probably good for intermediate and advanced players, too. I'm glad I bought this "game" because it's making learning the guitar easier than I thought.

I like the game but some time it does not pick up notes other than that it is a very good game and easy to learn.

We had 4 attempts at exchanging the game as it would simply not work in the Xbox (many of forums regarding this issue). Once we got a disc that worked, there still seems to be some glitches and freezing in the game (all other games work in our almost new xbox). My bf, who is more advanced, finds some parts too easy. I am an amateur who learned to play a little from him teaching me and then reading tabs myself on the internet, and I even find some of the lessons too easy. However, it's still fun and gets better once you get the hang of all the lessons the game has to offer - it's not just as simple as playing a song over and over until you've mastered it.

This a great tool that's fun. I use the audio out from my xbox to eliminate any delay.
