I owned this game for PC before I got an Xbox One. It was fun on the computer but much better on the Xbox. I can't honestly say it has taught me to play guitar but I have enjoyed pretending I could play by using the game.

This game is AWESOME! It's a game yet you're actually LEARNING an instrument?! I think alot of people will be disappointed if they have never played an instrument before. This is not guitar hero, you are actually learning how to play the guitar.
It comes full of lessons starting from how to pick, sliding, to learning chords. My best recommendation with this would be, give it time. Keep playing 30 minutes to an hour a day. Don't get discouraged after a 2-3 weeks if you've never played before, you'll start to play songs and then something magical happens while you're fumbling through a song and you get it. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn guitar, whether they have played another instrument or not!

I bought this after my I got a nice guitar and figure I could use some nice tutorials. This game is great and has really helped me move around the fret board more easily and better understand how to play my guitar. Its fun but at the same time challenging! It also bring the cable which important to have in order to connect your guitar to the game.

It's fun AND you learn how to play the guitar.
I picked up a used guitar from the pawn shop, plugged it in, and was learning from the start.
You start off learning all the basics and slowly move up. This is great for beginners and experts alike because you can also skip ahead to more challenging portions of the game.
This is a great way to get kids interested in music. You learn so much in such a short amount of time.
5 Stars doesn't even speak high enough for this.
I would still recommend picking it up when it goes on sale. 80 bucks is great for the game, but saving a little on it to spend more on a guitar is better.

Rocksmith 2014 is so much fun and makes it much easier to learn songs. The upgrades to the in song tools make it easy to learn parts you struggle with and it takes you at your pace. Plus it let's you get all the songs from the previous game, sadly not for free. If you have an electric guitar collecting dust, or if you just got your first beat up six-string from the second hand store, or bass guitar, Rocksmith 2014 can teach you more songs to impress your friends. It also has a studio option that allows you to make your own tunes, but when I tried that it seemed a bit clunky. Another improvement on this latest version is it allows you to choose to play lead or rhythm guitar so you can learn the parts of the song you wanna learn and improve the techniques you wanna improve. Deffinately worth every penny, if anything just for the cord alone!

The game does exactly as it is advertised. I had some experience playing the guitar when I bought the game and thought I would breeze through it, boy was I wrong. This game has helped me fine tune some of my shortcomings from being self taught and the lessons are well organized. I gave it a four star rating because I did and still do have a had time understanding some of the settings.

I love this game! It has a lot of great songs with more available for download. The game let's you work on drills or attempt songs. The game will recommend portions of the song to practice and suggest other drills to help you improve. As you learn more of the song additional notes are added. The only thing it doesn't do is put the practice time in for you.

This game is pretty neat in that it uses your actual guitar as the controller. I like how it starts out teaching you the songs with basic notes and chords but increases the complexity as it detects how well you're currently playing. I've played guitar for years, not sure if I would necessarily use this to learn guitar, but it''s still fun.

This game makes it really fun to learn to play guitar. I think this is aimed more toward beginning guitar players. I think that more advanced players won't get as much out of it. Although it would still be fun to play for guitar players of the entire spectrum.

We loved playing Rock Band in the past and kind of thought this was going to be like that but it is so much more. I had dabbled with guitar for 25 years and just playing this game had made me a much better player.

I started learning guitar from a book. The progress was slow and I had sonmanybquestions about technique and whether or not I was doing things right or if I was creating bad habits right off the bat. I decided to purchase rock Smith after reading online reviews and it was one of the best decisions that I made in regards to learning guitar. Rock Smith makes learning guitar more like a video game then an actual lesson. It's hard to put down any just want to keep playing. I noticed leaps and bounds in my ability within the first couple days of starting the program. I highly recommend this to anybody wanting to learn guitar.

This game is great for beginners as well as more experienced musicians. Overall the game does a great job at allowing players to become better at guitar. I do believe that you need some experience to play (the learning curve might be a lot for someone with zero experience). We all wish for more songs but I would like more lessons. Also, the game is a lot more fun to play through a stereo or sound bar.
One issue I did find is that when using different pickup configurations the system can misread your notes (that you missed it) when higher up on the neck. I moved my pickup switch to a different position and it corrected the problem.

Had been wanting to try rocksmith 2014 on the xbox one for a while now, but hadn't been able to convince myself to spend the $80. So when it went on sale for $40 I was pretty excited and purchased it later that day. I've been hooked ever since then. It comes with a great variety of songs from different genres, decades, and difficulties. Having practiced here and there when I have time (roughly 3-4 hours a week I'd say) for about a month now, I can personally see how much I've improved, and so can my roommate! This is a great game to keep you engaged and motivated. It will teach you the muscle memory you need to play the guitar fluidly without you ever knowing it's happening. Oh, and you can play/buy dozens of your favorite chart toppers. A+ for this game. A+.

If you are patient and really want to learn how to play guitar. This is a good choice.
The learning curve is there, but, hey, they guarantee that you will play a song in 60 days. I like it. Great game and fun to play

Great for beginner and for Simone like me who's been playing on and off for 20 years. There is an audio delay, but use the optical connection or plug headphones into your controller to fix that

Bought this so my brother and I could play and learn guitar together. We've been having an absolute blast, and it gives you a decent mechanical base to start to learn to play on your own!

I've wanted to learn to play the guitar for most of my life. I've dabbled in a few instruments but never committed to really getting good at any one of them. I bought a guitar I thought looked nice and fully expected the usual: play it for a week and never touch it again once I realize I won't get good at it. However, I bought this "game" to try it out and in as little as 4 weeks I am actually impressed with my progress.
It's obvious that a century's worth of guitar knowledge has gone into the design of the game. On the surface it's not all that complicated. It's a compilation of lessons, a Guitar Hero style music game, and a ton of extras that could have very well been sold separately at full price. I can't stress enough that if you want to play guitar, but don't have the time or resources to get legitimate lessons, you HAVE to get this game. It's a steal even at full price. My guitar came with a practice amp, but when I want to pluck something just to hear it I will plug my guitar into this game instead. The ability to try out different tone configurations is something that seems way too powerful for a newbie like me. I've had this game for months and it still surprises me with the shear amount of... stuff. I can't even list it all. Let's be honest, this review is long enough already.
Bottom line: if you play guitar, want to play guitar, or own a guitar, buy this immediately. Even if you're an expert in guitar, I would recommend picking this up. It's too packed with value to pass up.

I played with this on the xbox 360 before. I used it to learn guitar AND bass. It's so much fun that you don't even realize you are learning :)
