If you are one of the many who have become bored with "playing" the guitar using 5 buttons (I'm looking at you Guitar Hero and Rockband), this may be the game for you. This game/tool actually teaches you the basics on how to start playing the guitar. Plus, with the included dongle, you can use any guitar (accoustic/electic) that has the necessary output connections. Loads of fun to play, and an excellent supplement to learning the basics, you'll be surprised how quickly any aspiring musicians learn to pick-up the basics. Also, a newer 2014 version just came out, with loads of new songs.

Decent selection of songs and some exercises to help you practice. Not sure expert players would get much out of it. While this version isn't as robust as the 2014 version it's still a good value as you can import the songs into 2014 for a minimal fee.

This is working pretty good i dont have time for regular lessons schedule but this teaches according to my level as i get better it challenges me. Now this is not to take place of a teacher due to it does see some of the things your doing wrong like finger placement or how your position your hand, but it very helpfull to practice on your term. As for the hard stuff well will see soon or later but it wil be on my time.

Fun game. Good for teaching the guitar. Lots of songs. It is pretty challenging though!

I have been wanted to learn guitar a long long time. This one comes with the cable which alone cost about the whole bundel. You can do it with your pace, great.

Don't expect to learn much guitar, but expect to have more of a challenge than guitar hero or rock band. This is a game, not a guitar tutorial.

Love how simple it is to,use for learning how to play the guitar and at the same time having fun playing the game with your own guitar.

I would give this five stars based on ease of setup and has the cord for usb connections would be good for begginners and pros too

This game is a grat learning tool. It will help you learn to play a real guitar instead of just mashing colored buttons. If you'd like to actually have something to show for spending time with a rhythm game then this is the game for you.

I had never played guitar before and thought this would be a great way to learn some while having fun. I had to borrow a guitar from a friend. This was fairly challenging learning how to hold and strum at first. It became more fun the longer and better I became.

Love that I picked up this game. I already knew basics but this goes way in depth with teaching you techniques and the soundtrack is a far easier method of keeping you interested

Rocksmith is a great tool for learning guitar for those who have an interest in music and video games!

Great game to learn how to play a real guitar. I bought this for my son who is learning to play bass. Unfortunately... The bass program is not included... It is an additional on line cost. I was not pleased. Once I got it purchased and downloaded all was OK.

I really enjoy this game having played it for about 8 hours the first day until my hands were about to bleed. I have been off and on playing the guitar for the last 3.5 years and haent been able to fully sit myself down and dedicate time as needed to play. I started with Musician's Institute books, a few tutoring lessons, messing around on the guitar with some experienced coworkers after work, downloading tons of tabs and playing as best as I could. I used to force myself to sit down an hour a night during the weekdays perhaps longer, just to practice hand movements up adn down the fretboard and getting my fingers used to things. But for the last year I have not had any time to play, twiddle, practice at all. I was very excited when this game came out and planned to get back into things and was hoping this would be the motivation I needed and a fun way to do it. I started out with the first song, it was very slow and easy which was great for me. I needed a refresher and to get my fingers used to the guitar again after a year of not playing anything. By the end of the day I was jamming pretty good. I really enjoyed the first minigame (Ducks# which is basically Space Invaders but you shoot by moving up and down the fretboard and strumming to shoot up towards the ducks before they fly too far away. I made it thorugh 4 songs total and a bunch of the lessons workign hard to try and make it to Gold status. I am eager to get back to the game and find more time to see how the game progresses as it is supposed to learn your skill level and ad more notes along the way, so I am hoping it will really help me progress. I had some trouble with some of the notes registering which was making me mad on a few sections #the slide challenge mostly# This could be due to a dented fret on my Ibanez but I am not sure. Either way this is a great tool and I am eager to see what else it has in store for me with regards to minigames, skill challenges, and note additions to the songs I have already played. I would easily recommend this to anyone who wants to have fun and to progress your skills. I dont know if this will actually TEACH you how to play the guitar on your own, rather teach you how to move your hands around better and to memorize a few tab type songs, not necessarily make you into the guy who will be able to play Metallica songs because you tabbed a few songs in this game, I doubt it will be that progressive. But I am excited for DLC as well and hoping they ad some fun songs that I personally would want to play and learn myself so I can learn them. Granted it will teach you how to play that song and that song only not how to become good at playing other songs, but it may make it easier for you to play tabsa now that you have fretboard experience moving around and masically playing this game which appears to be mainly tabs #at this point as I have only been playing for 8 total hours) so we will see how it progresses.
