First, the good things: 1. The interface is super easy to navigate. Switching between screens isn't "blazing" fast, but the structure is easy enough that a even a relative technophobe could fumble his/her way through the channels and programs with minimal instruction. 2. Even while actively streaming, this thing doesn't pull more than a few watts. Great way to save some wear and tear on my XBox360, which is a heat-generating, noisy power-hog that is great for games but is a little overpowered and "underfeatured" when it comes to streaming tasks. The Roku draws minimal power, doesn't generate much heat, and is basically dead silent. 3. Loads, loads, loads of free content. Yes, the Roku will let you take advantage of your paid subscription services like Netflix, Amazon, HuluPlus, HBOGo, NHL Gamecenter, and the like, but where it really beats the life out of other streaming options (such as the XBox and Blu-Ray player I have previously used for streaming) is in the amount and variety of freely available content. Through various channels, users can access streams from CNN, BBC World News, and loads of other news streams from around the world. Like Mexican and South American soccer? No problem. Korean dramas? Japanese game shows? Classic movies? Newer movies? You can find all of it. The not-so-great: (1) When you first add a channel from the Roku website, it won't show up on the device right away. The slightly cumbersome workaround is just to pop into the settings menu and tell the unit to update the software. Once the unit confirms that the version of the operating software is up to date, it automatically downloads the new channels onto the device. Jump back to your channel menu and you're good to go. Really just a minor nuisance though. Ultimately, I have to give this five stars for its ease of use, efficiency, for the wide variety of audio, video, and information content that is available (with much/most of it being completely free), and for the price point. I can't speak to the higher end variants of the Roku, but the LT is a big bang-for-the-buck gadget.

I bought this for my bedroom so I can stream Netflix while I relax a bit at night. I'm capable when it comes to electronics and setting them up, so I didn't find it hard to attach and set up, but the fact that you have to use the arrow buttons to input text does make it take longer than I'd prefer. However, it was easy enough and I was able to add my Netflix account in addition to a few of the other free streaming options. (Disney, Blockbuster, etc...) The Disney selections didn't seem to include movies but they had a bunch of short clips for children, so be prepared that the free options for them don't seem to include movies, even older ones. (Unless I missed something - I admit I wasn't very thorough in my search.) All-in-all I found the system easy to use and I've had it for a few months now. The remote is a bit small and almost awkward, so I've dropped it a few times while lifting it off of my nightstand at night, but for as much as I've dropped it on my hardwood floors it seems to withstand the abuse just fine. The streaming has worked great and the box is small enough that it doesn't take up a lot of space next to my TV. The only real complaint I could add is that the Netflix version on the Roku doesn't automatically play the next episode in a series like the newest version on our other (wireless) TV and Playstation 3 does. Both of the other systems were recently updated and start the next episode within about 20-30 seconds after you finish the one you're watching - which I would prefer. When using the Roku, I have to actually reach for the remote again to hit "OK" to play the next episode and I'd rather just zone out at night and have them keep going until I turn off my TV, but it's a very small complaint and I hope they're able to update the software soon. I definitely recommend the Roku - LT as a cheap streaming option. Great little box!

Great product, we use it for Netflix and Pandora. Very simple to use, setup takes about 15min but once its setup your ready to go. We never have any issues with it not working or streaming right.

This was a xmas gift for a room where there was no gaming console to access other options. The cable for that room was also basic with no cable box. This was the perfect addition to a room without a lot of room for large items. Fits perfectly and works easily no fuss no involved instructions...great item

This is my 1st streaming device so I have nothing to compare it to. It was easy to hook up and get it running. I am not a neophyte just a normal person that can follow directions and figure out things most of the time. I am still exploring what the Roku can do and am pleased with what I have found so far. I subscribed to a lot of channels and then decide if I want to keep them. There is a lot of free ones to watch tho it was got mainly for Netflix and Hulu. I have cut way back on Dish and now spend about $60 less a month. If I could get local channels Dish would be gone all together. All in all I am pleased with my Roku. I will probably give this one to my daughter and upgrade to a Roku3 for the speed and the headphone jack so I won't disturb the wife.

I was looking for a device to stream Netflix and HBO Go and I was so pleased to find one for a great price. It is very easy to set up (you do need a credit card but you're only charged if you buy channels). I used both the cords provided and an HDMI cord (not provided) to stream the channels and the HDMI cable gives great quality picture! The only problem I have had is sometimes what I'm watching stops to buffer a lot. It's only happened a few times and it may have been on account of my WiFi having a lower signal at the time. Other than that I think it's a great streamer for the price!

We loved the Roku off the bat as it was small, a great price, and easy to install and use. However, very quickly we realized it wouldn't work for our use. We are not heavy TV watchers but one of our favorite sites is YouTube and that is not available. Also not available is NFL Game Rewind which is also one of the main sites we watch. With these limitations, we returned it and bought the $179 Sony player that has a Google browser. Works great and we have not run into anything yet that we can't watch.

I bought the Roku for my daugher who wanted a TV in her room. However, I could justify paying another $10 dollar monthly fee from my cable company. Since she already like to watch a lot of Nextflix content, I thought this would be a great addition. The set up was easy, however, they do want to store your credit card information. But the price of under 50 dollars was right and only a one time fee. About 1/2 the applications have no cost or are tied to existing applications that you may already have. (Netflix, Facebook & Picasa)

I would personally skip this model and just go to the Roku streaming stick. It allows for 1080p instead of the 720p. Other than that the functions are good and work seamlessly.

I purchased the Roku LT because I wanted to take advantage of my Hulu subscription and my HD tv at the same time. I wanted the 1080p version but that after reading several online reviews everyone said the LT was better, even if it was 720p. I have a 52" Sharp HD tv and there is no way you can tell that the quality is 720p. That and the LT is a lot more affordable! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the pleasures of streaming tv without breaking the bank!

We use this with our bedroom TV to play Netflix, Vudu, and Amazon Prime videos mostly. No problems with the device after more than a year of use. We do wish it had YouTube streaming, but that's a minor issue for us, and we don't use this on our main TV. Definitely a quality product at a great price point.

I have been using this for a few weeks now. Works well and I didn't have any issues with streaming. I have a WiFi hot spot I run on my phone and it connected with ease. The box is small and not intrusive. My 15 year old set it up without any direction. Love the different channels. I'm going to buy another for my room.

The Roku streaming tv is inexpensive and very handy

Only issue during set up was change pic resolution to 720p, and then had no pic, had to unplug unit, then pic came back in 720 p. audio quality streaming pandora, is not as good as when I stream pandora via directv, but on netfilix it is fine on stereo system. Most of the free apps in the store are pure junk, overpriced for free lol. I purchased to replace a defective blueray player to stream netflix to big screen hd tv, give this unit 5 stars for that purpose .

I bought this for my not very computer/tech savvy daughter, and she was able to set up and use with ease and very quickly. Great way to get rid of the cable bill and watch Netflix and Hulu and Pandora. She loves it

I purchased this for an older TV that I have. I have not had any problems with streaming quality and it works great with my TV.

Apps on this device is better than any other device I have used. There are more features on the apps than the same apps on other devices and very easy to use.
