I recently purchased a Roku Ultra for a TV we don't use as much. I made some testing after buying and everything seemed in order so I stopped using it for a few days. I then decided to install it on my daughter's room, who streams Youtube and Netflix all the time and she immediately told me there was something wrong with the equipment, since the her Netflix show was constantly pausing on its own. We tried HBO and Disney+ and they seemed to be working fine, but the issue also seemed to be impacting Youtube. Unfortunately we realized this two weeks after the purchase, so cannot return it to best buy. I contacted Roku to see if they had a fix for it, and after spending an hour doing "troubleshooting" they finally confessed that it's an issue on the Roku software that affects the Youtube and Netflix apps. They knew troubleshooting wouldn't work, and yet they make you do it anyway to give you a false sense that someone's "helping you".
Do yourself a favor and just buy another streaming product. Stay away from this brand.

I bought this on SuperBowl Sunday with hopes that I would be able to watch the game. It didn't work. Thought I had 30 days to return. Went to return it in that time frame, and they said I only had 15 days from purchase price. This is why I will be buying from Amazon from now on. Now I am stuck with a 100 dollar item I will never use.

After set up and updates, It keeps messing up. after using it different times, It won't come on when I hit the power button. There is a spinning wheel on the TV, and eventually a no signal comes on the TV. I keep having to unplug and plug the power back in. I have checked for updates multiple times. Needs improvements.

I returned this. It was OK but it would sometimes “hitch” and go slow. The Directv app would sometimes not work. I ended up getting an Apple TV and am much happier.

The device works, but after I got it home to set up, the batteries leaked, making a real mess. I had to clean everything up to get the product to work.

Works great. Best Buy won't match a $20 reduction in price after only 18 days. When I complained agent tried to get me to buy a $50 membership then blamed the technology that wouldn't allow them to manually give me the credit. Next time I'll buy from Amazon. BBY is not easy to do business with. Terrible experience e.

The device constantly froze, I have to unplug it for a few seconds and plugged it back to reset.

The unit itself works pretty well but the remote does not. The buttons on the remote need to be pressed very hard to work and sometimes there is no response at all to any button presses on the fully charged remote.

Poor audio performance and connectivity

I received a 2024 Roku model 4850X, and I've had nothing but problems with the unit after the first 2 days. At least once a day, the screen will go blank and my TV advises that there isn't any input source connected; this is fixed each time by physically unplugging the Roku and plugging it back in. Audio levels swing greatly between apps, and sometimes within the same app, in a way that wasn't present with previous Rokus (in general, the volume output is 50%-70% compared to previous Rokus). Sometimes the rechargeable USB-C remote just stops working altogether. I tried troubleshooting in good faith, and then after I finally gave up, I learned there is only a 14-day return window for this item. It's probably a good idea to stay away from this 4850X model until Roku puts out an update

Work for 1 day without issues, then it would reboot about 3 times a day for no reason. Today was the worst, turned it on and everything froze, couldn't choose my streaming apps, would automatically default to the Roku channel then freeze up and reboot. I think it has gremlins in it. Going back to Bestbuy . I have a Roku Ultra from 2020 and never had an issue with it.

How convenient, device needs to be unplugged and plugged back in every time it is used and the battery on the rechargeable remote last < 1 day-- all 5 days after it is not returnable.

This device would not work correctly for controlling the volume on my tv. I have another Roku that is older that worked fine. We wanted to get the lighted remote and better performance,but if you can’t control the volume it isn’t worth doing.

Do not buy if in dorm

Do not buy a Roku if you live in a dorm or somewhere with shared Wi-Fi. People on the same WiFi can and will connect to it and be able to control it and there is no way to disable on device. Tons of forum posts suggest there's settings to stop it, but those settings do not stop remote control, just limit the kinds of control they can do (and the limits are minimal).

I had a firestick and was told Roku was much better and I will have better response and fewer buffering issues. That could not be further from the truth. I cannot stand Roku, always a problem.
